Sad thing is that horses will, if at all possible continue to run even if they are seriously injured. They truly run their hearts out- humans just take advantage of that.

Tragic. I great joy in my life has been watching horses run. They are beautiful alone or in groups. Perhaps these courses should be reevaluated for height of jump and distance of course. Something is wrong if that many injuries occur!

It’s just terrible and I believe it’s abuse horse are raced at a very young age and those horses should be grazing and being worked on just a little. 😢

There has to be an end to this so called sport. So many horses are made to run way too young and undeveloped, then way too often injured and having to be put down. They're just used to make money, and it's disgusting.

Once again, let me say what the horses are thinking: "F×+k all you peoplewho pleasure yourselves in drugging beautiful animals and bring out the green sheets within 15 seconds cyz you don't mind shooting another in the head." But then we kill unborn human babies in the name of a mothers rights.

What a horrible way for such an intelligent animal to go.....hurts my heart.

Why do there legs do that

Just like with any athletic sport, humans or otherwise, injuries occur. The racing industry has come a long way from the past and most of the horses these days are drug tested. If they are found drugged in any way (steroids or others) then they are immediately disqualified and not allowed to race. All horses must be vetted the day of the race; before and after, to make sure nothing is wrong with them and to reduce injuries from occurring. There are also teams on standby in case a horse goes down, including equine veterinarians. The racing industry was a horrible thing in the past, but they are doing much better now. These lives were lost in a cruel way. I'm just glad that people are learning from their mistakes and much is being done to keep these accidents from happening again.

in a race once a horse has injured itself they should stop the race or the horse will injure itself even more trying to catch up with the others

As my horseback-riding teacher said, we should not shere this kind of videos to everyone, because people who don't know anything about this sport wants to stop "harming" horses imediately, because they can't see the good things. People too often misundertand this kind of accidenst

Years ago Tennessee Walking Horse were subjected to severe abuse to the hooves so the high stepping gate could be a achieved. It was awful. I had 2 of these horses. The natural gate was beautiful. I only had the hooves trimmed and a light shoe on them. A law was made to stop this abuse. I think steeplechase should be against the law. Higher and higher jumps in shows should also be stopped. A woman was killed near where l live when she was practicing jumps. The horse fell on her. My 2 walking horses lived to be 28 the other 30 years old. The pleasure l had was the love and care of them.

The majority of people treat there horses really well there are a small minority who choose to mistreat horses however at this high level especially these horses are treated like kings and queens

Why in the hell do they race these horses and make them jump? What a horrible practice. I would never put a horse through that I think the owners and riders need to be put down with them. It's only fair. I love them just as much, without the jumping.

It's not like the average person eats the flesh of thousands of animals on a yearly basis right? Animals are just like humans! Why don't we bury them like humans, with their own tombstone? Well, it is because we wouldn't have space for a road to drive on.. That's why.
