All this arguing... Why does nobody get that this is the GLENN MILLER version of the song, NOT the Benny Goodman version. This was performed by a different orchestra for the movie "Swing Kids"
glenn miller arrangment drummer gen kruper glenn miller on trumbone also red nickols on cornet has was tommy and jimmy dorsey the all was orginal five penny`s it also an old piece of a jewish folk tune
Sing, Sing, Sing, written in 1936 by Louis Prima, as an harmonic interpolation from a march tune called Christopher Columbus, mainly played in the New Orleans repertoire for more than 90 years. C C was also recorded by Benny G, among many swing orchestras of the swing era. As said before, this version came from the movie "Swing Kids". Goodman's clarinet solo is played note for note by swing veteran clarinetist Abe Most. ;-)
No you're wrong too. I know this song. It's from the movie, Swing Kids. It takes place in Germany leading up to the war. German kids are swing dancing to our music, like this great piece. Check out the amazing dance scenes in the movie!
OK. The title is wrong. This IS Sing, Sing, Sing written by Louis Prima for Benny Goodman. "Swing, swing, swing" is John Williams' version of "Sing, sing, sing" for the movie "1941", but I wish Prima had gotten credit as well. Listen to them both.. Also check out the original and Williams version of "the Bugler's Dream". He has done this before.
Oh how I wish I could go back in time and pic a sailor out at a club and swing with him to this song!!! I envy my grandma for being a young woman during this time period!!
this may be a classic but its by benny goodman you can hear his clarinet solo and the song is called sing sing sing glen miller is just as good like in the mood thats good one same swing style im in middle school and in know this no thats sayin something
Im looking for COMMUNITY SWING BY GLENN MILLER..when i typed it in search it came up the name with his name after it..i found the name of the song orginally in his bio. would anyone happen to have it i wonder????
Sorry misread your comment, you didn't really talk about the original composition, but who plays it. Searching a little I found out there was a new recording for the film, so it might be this one. But it's still Goodman's arrangement. So it's (or may be?) a new recording of the Goodman's arrangement of a piece originally written by Louis Prima. Had to be said though.
This track existed for so long before this movie came out... It was written by Louis Prima and this version is played by Benny Goodman and his orchestra. It's like saying Clair de Lune is from Twilight's movie soundtrack, as it is in reality from Claude Debussy :P
Is BENNY GOODMAN mate !!! Actually, the song is originally from Louis Prima and originally was called "sing bing, sing", in honor to Bing Crosby; but was BENNY GOODMAN who made it popular and made and icon of it !!
Oh please excuse me. I thought I was in Tuliyollal for a second there.

The song was popularized by Benny Goodman and his big band, but this version was performed by another orchestra for the movie "Swing kids" (1993).

Goodman always started with the drum piece, and the overall sound of this one sounds more like Miller.
