Tamron 17-28 mm F/2.8 Di III RXD, AF Issue (SONY A7III)

So this is what is happening with the new Tamron 17-28 e-mount AF. The Af-C is "focusing" on the center area. I'm using Cine4, s-gamut 3-cine; F 2.8, ISO 1000, 1/200. It looks like it's working in MF with the focus done near the camera. Does anyone else have the same problem?

I have the Tamron 17-28 on my A7 III and it just isn't sharp no matter what I do... I will try to exchange for Sigma 14-24... My other lenses are sharp, just not the Tamron. Edit: and BTW I have the most updated software on A7 III.
So many problem with tamron lens 17-28 f2.8 ..... better stay away until Tamron fix the many problem .... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂🙏
same issue with my A7 II the only solution is to turn off and turn on the camera

Borrowed a colleague’s unit and same issue on my a73. Glad i tested it first before buying. Will wait for tamron to fix it or sony to release a new fw update..

Is your camera running the most up dated firmware? I have two Sony bodies and the one with the older firmware will refuse to focus like that with the 17-28...but when I use it on the up dated a7 iii it seems to work fine despite being a little slower the all my native glass. Im going thru the phases of trying to get the 28-75 and the 17-28mm lenses to use for personal shoots and possibly some events or professional work but I do not yet trust the lens to focus for its self and with the silly Sony lower resolution in 4k video screen it can be harder to tell with such a wide lens if its really missing focus or not lol
Hey man, yes last updated firmaware. I noticed it happens when the camera (A7III) is working from some minutes... then, sometimes, the Tamron 17-28 stop to work in AF.
same thing is happening to me on the same camera. Any solutions yet?
Tell Tamron that you are having this problem, they must know that more lenses must be fixed! What I noticed is that this issue comes when the camera is switched on from more minutes... so I'm switching it off more times during the shooting. But I can't trust this lens right now so when it's time to shoot in low light I'm using my SEL28F20. Hope a new firmware will come out soon
Please Contact Tamron CS to check the lens
I'm in Italy. I contacted the polyphoto service and they don't know anything about this lens. They just said "we can send the lens to Tamron Europe and they will check".
