This is another little video of some nice classic cars. The location is Knoll Park in Port Colborne Southern Ontario. It is September 13th a Friday around 6 in the afternoon, and still 80 degrees out. This the last get together for the year, and there is a band playing tonight . It just does not get any better than this

I spotted this 1989 Dodge Dakota Sport Truck at a local car show. Altogether, the Dakota Sport Convertible wasn't much of a success, and production ended after 1991. Only 2,842 were built for 1989, 909 for 1990 and just eight rolled off the production line in 1991, for a grand total of 3,759. This one is a VERY NICE example. It has no rust , and never seen a winter.

One of the members of our Niagara British Sports car club is the present curator of this 1973 Gilbern Invader production # 180 of about 200 made. They were made in Wales from 1959 to 1973. Oldsmobile Convertible

This Convertible really caught my attention, not only because of it's age and looks , but because it is an Oldsmobile. It is a shame that General Motors dropped the Oldsmobile line. I would think that a car collector would want some of these in his portfolio.

    Hello David. I have another club car rack and pinion question that I hope you can help with. I need to replace the splined stud that is in the rack and pinion assembly and attaches to the 'knuckle joint' on the steering wheel column. I can't get the round rubber seal out of the section that holds the splined stud, no matter how hard I try. If you have done this, I'd sure like to know how you got that black round rubber seal out of there. Thank you.

    By 'eyeball', my Club Car was very 'toe out'. I eyeballed both fronts, and adjusted the tie rods to what made the tires look straight ahead. I then took it for a spin, and got 20 feet at 5mph, and I thought the cart would tip over from shaking. Keep in mind, the cart drove well with the obvious toe out. Lucky I counted the threads showing on the passenger side (9 threads) and driver's side (6 threads) before I started, so I could return it back to original settings. The cart now drives as before, but seriously toe out visible. I'm not sure where to start. Should I 1. Center the wheel 2. Crank both the tie rods down to .. say.. 5 threads showing each and work towards the 1/8inch difference by turning the tie rods both 1/2 turn at the time or something like that? The steering wheel is canted to the right at about 1 o'clock. Thanks.

      @@davidandsuzy2516 Hi David, and thank you for answering. I've read all of your previous comments, and here's what I think I'm missing: With 9 threads showing on the passenger side, and 6 threads showing on the driver's side, where do I start? I'll center the steering wheel (from the 1o'clock position that it's in now. Now what? Should I crank in the passenger side (from it's 9 threads now showing) to match the 6 threads on the driver's side? And then once they're matched (both at 6 threads showing), then crank each side down by a small amount - say 1/2 turn until I get the 1/8" toe in? That seems the logical way to go about it, but I'm certainly not the expert you are. I'm using two angle iron pieces and tape measures like you suggested. Thank you.

      What do you think David, am I on the right track to starting off by setting both tie rods at the same (6 threads showing) and then slowly work down to the 1/8" toe in measurement. I just need to know where to start. Thanks.

      @@johnbowes7965 you always try to have an equal amount of thread on each tie rod, which should be no trouble if you have done all the proper steps make sure there are no worn out or bent parts MAKE sure the str. wheel is centered in the straight ahead position. To do this turn the str, wheel from lock to lock if it takes 3 turns lock to lock then half of that which would be 1 and a half is what you turn the str wheel back from a full lock position, and that is where the str. wheel MUST BE IN THE STRAIGHT AHEAD POSITION if not then undo , and remove the str. wheel and re-position it before you set the toe

    I built this jig and tried it. How do you know when the wheels are pointed forward perfectly? I have the desired toe in, but there is a slight pull to the right if I center the wheel and let go when rolling. I'm not certain what to do next.

    • @davidandsuzy2516
      @davidandsuzy2516 2 месяца назад

      a few things First read my comments below from 3 years ago. Then once you have read them a couple of suggestions. Because now that you have made a jig similar to mine do the alignment again making sure that while you do it the steering wheel remains in the straight ahead position. If the str. wheel is still not straight, some people remove it and re-position it. Personally if the str.wheel is off a bit to the left and you know that the total toe in is correct then loosen the jam nut on the 2 tie rods . you will want to toe the right one in , and equally toe the left one out. If the str. wheel is not that far off being centered then just turn the tie rods about a quarter turn.. Then road test it again. You may have to tweak this again. If the Str. wheel was off to the right then do the opposite.

    Great Video... Have you ever seen a king pin break? Had a tournament last week and a king pin failed (broke) on a cart driven by one of our players and the course is saying that it was due to negligent driving. However, there wasn't any sign of a damaged fender, bumper, wheel/rim, tire etc. just a broken king pin. The course wants to charge us $600 King Pin and bushings + labor. The driver of the cart told us that the cart started steering rather oddly halfway through the round and then finally it went bonkers and the wheel splayed out at the top ( apparently when the king pin totally failed) Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

    I have almost the same cannister. But it says (from left to right) purge (goes to base of carburator), air cleaner (I think just access to blow through the carbon cannister and also back toward tank), and then "tank" (assume this is a line that brings vapor pressure from the gas tank especially when filling and when empty). Tank line has a small disk like diaphram perhaps? in line to the "tank" fitting on the cannister. I assume this is like a "check valve" of sorts maybe to prevent the clogging of the line with charcoal or ??? Thanks for the video, the gas smell was the clue, I don't have pressure on my gas filler cap. Just some kind of back pressure that perhaps makes the fuel pump work harder hence the longer revolutions to start.

My cannister is I think same.... part # 1708715JU. Will check the vent (called "purge" I think on the top of the cannister. Or is it the "tank" line that is the breather ?? Please help. thanks

      hello I am not positive that this is your problem BUT it is an easy cheap thing to check , and eliminate . Disconnect the line that runs from the gas tank to the Canister. Do this at both ends. Now blow compressed air into the line. to see if it is blocked. DO NOT BLOW AIR INTO THE GAS TANK.

I installed a new blend door actuator and a new gear. It went on very easy. Putting everything back together was the frustrating part. Anyway, tested it out afterwards and it’s not working. Did yours work right away without any other work needed?

      @enjoylife7030 5 месяцев назад

      @@davidandsuzy2516 So after I made the repair and was able to "free up" my blend door by hand which was stuck, I put everything back together. Mine is a 2015 and the actuator did need to be "calibrated" with a diagnostic handheld tablet per the manufacturer. I took it to a shop to have the calibration done and they said that the computer could not get the new actuator to calibrate with the computer system for the HVAC. At this point I assumed that the whole assembly that houses the blend doors was damaged beyond repair even though I had gotten it to move by hand. These doors do have rubber and foam sealing around them and if they rotate too far they can not only become stuck but also get jammed so bad that even after you free them up by hand they still don't function as they should. Today I got back to the issue because ours blows heat constantly and now that summer is nearly here it needed to be replaced. The dealer is pulling out the dash and removing the entire blend door system and replacing it with a new one which while expensive is a necessary repair for the vehicle to have proper A/C in the summer. These dual zone climate systems are great options and luxuries to have but they are quite complicated. If I tried to do this bigger job myself it would take me many days so I threw in the towel and have paid the shop to do this more complicated repair to the HVAC system. Your video was very helpful to me in replacing the actuator but I knew there was a possibility it would be a bigger issue. At least I got a proper education of what may have been wrong with the system and I don't feel like I am having an unnecessary repair done. Thanks again.

      @@enjoylife7030 I am glad that you watched my Video and got something out of it. Sorry that you have to take it to the Dealer now. To me there are only 2 gears, the one mounted to the door, and the one that drives it from the actuator .There is only one way that they will go on correctly . When you assemble them so that the index is lined up then no need to calibrate.

    My door , on the right leg of the passenger side door just blocks the blower , sitting way down . The gear supposed to move a door ? It looks as if there’s something that held something but it’s a shaft that is missing ? 2008 jgc with barely any air flow hot or cold !

      Actuator and gears move freely and teeth intact it just doesn’t move a flapper when turning because the flapper fell way down and not retained in any way to the driven gear , did I lose a shaft from the top gear ?

    May I ask where you purchase your bushing kits. There are numerous places of course but would value your opinion as to a seller with good parts. Also, I see the king pin bushings (top and bottom) both have a flange. I have seen where the bottom bushing has a flange but the top does not. Of course, I like the two flange bushings better.

    Thank you David for your update. I've been on the fence about buying a mid-rise lift. My ceiling height is also 8 ft and my garage is very small. I've been considering just using it in my driveway but I worry about being able to move it in and out of my garage by myself. I probably won't use it but maybe a couple times a month. At one time I had four cars. I only have one now. I will check out the Titan lift if I decide to go ahead and buy one. Carl
