Although it was never mentioned, i think the film hints that Samara's adopted dad was the first one to watch the video tape and he was the one to drop ot off at that cabin for other ppl to watch in order for himself to survive. So when Rachel came and mentioned Samara, you can tell he was easily upset and dismissive. And im sure he was afraid of what samara might do to him therefore, he committed suicide.

The film itself is a good movie however it is not faithful to its source material the book wrote by max brooks is very different. It is presented as a series of interviews of different peoples experiences at the beginning during and after the outbreak has been mostly ended

After just two episodes, this has proven to be one of the best written shows in years. The characters are insanely complex and NOT “stupid” at all. It’s amazing, and as I commented in your first reaction, I’m thankful the show has caught on and is doing so well. You’re right: watch The Batman, and you can watch this immediately right after, and it goes so well together. Cannot wait for the next episode!

It’s such a beautiful movie. Only scary movie to make me cry. Haley Joel Osment who played Cole and Toni Colette who played his mom were both nominated for academy awards for their performances. He was one of the youngest people ever.

the horror was the family dynamic. that's why they showed the witch at the beginning. it wasn't ever a question of whether the witch existed - it was how the wilderness and the uncontrollable were eating the family alive. the witch was just the gasoline on something that was already on fire. the overwhelming noisiness of the younger kids, the pressure of finding food, the loss of community and their god, the loneliness, the distrust of Thomasin as an unmarried woman, you don't know if the two younger kids are pretending, the father's lies. the witch is the least of their problems.

This has been the best adaptation of video games EVER. I was so anxious because I wanted them to get it right. But they walked up to the plate, pointed to the outfield, and knocked it out of the park. The story of this game still haunts me to this day and I played it 10 years ago. There is something that Joel says to the solider guy "The more you kill people the harder it is to sleep, I guess" and it's only upon rewatch that it dawned on me that he has trouble sleeping and it might not just be because of Sarah (which is what I thought).

When I learned they were making it into a TV show, I texted my brother "PEDRO EFFING PASCAL FOR JOEL AND BELLA EFFING RAMSAY FOR ELLIE?" and he replied "Who's Bella Ramsay?" I tested "YOU DON'T KNOW LADY EFFING MORMONT ???? I AM DISOWNING YOU!"

What breaks my heart about this movie is you learn his wife was depressed because she somehow could feel him in the house, so she couldn't let go and be happy And you learn that Cole's grandmother couldn't pass on until she let her daughter know how proud she was of her. One thing that broke my heart on rewatch(es) is you see the exact moment Cole decides to tell Malcolm how to talk to his wife, and by doing so, meaning Malcolm would pass on and he would lose his confident. Yet, even know that, he still helps Malcolm. Also, the step mother had started poisonning the little sister. When they walk up to the house, you can hear someone say in the background that the little sister was also getting sick. The big sister saved her little sister by going to get help from Cole. This movie never gets old. Even if you've watched it again and again, it always gets to you.
