Here is my hot take on shipping culture. Shipping is built into the foundation of k-pop, particularly western fan culture! Just like how idol's are presented as the ideal love interest, they are also put together for shipping purposes, because shipping goes insanely viral in terms of compilations and edits. Shipping is just another layer of free promotion with very little effort on the idol/companies part. Like you can not tell me that Minsung, Woosan and Yeonbin as insanely popular ship's are not hugely encouraged by the companies, and frankly all these idol's seem VERY aware of what they are doing. Heck they call each other pet names, hug, fake kiss each other and even joke about being married couples and dating. It's all very intentional. So when you take into consideration that the majority of Kpop fans (particularly in the west) are girls between 12 -18, you know girls with a lot of romance on the brain, a little experience with fanfiction (which is primarily gay shipping) and beautiful men completely unattainable for them, acting in this very much not subtle affection and romantic subtext, which I will say again is intentionally being used, can you really blame them for resorting to shipping these idols. Can they really be condemned for essentially doing exactly what they have been set up to do by these companies? Like whether it is justifiable is another question, but personally I think this responsibility relies with the company. Just like Parasocial relationships, the industry is literally built on it, and even if reasonable adult's acknowledge that this is a messed up system, can people really be blamed for essentially using the product (Kpop) as intended by the Manufactures (companies.) Like I said, that doesn't make toxic behaviour's morally okay, but who is truly to blame here, the emotional, hormonal and naive children who are consuming what they see as a fun and harmless hobby as it was intended, or does the fault lie with the Multi-Million dollar corporations which are boxing up these unethical practices in a shinny costume and selling it to these children? For me that's a pretty damn simple question.

UPDATE AFTER KG’S STATEMENT: Kg’s statement was one of the first things I have seen after waking up and even after 2 hours I am still speechless about it. I am scared for the girls, terrified about what they had to go through and knowing a member had an attempt is worrying me the most. I am 100% supporting the girls and I hope they will get out of the company as soon as possible without any more harm. Praying not only for KG, but for all 6 girls and I hope they will find a peace in their life again. No one should ever go through something like this. I am shocked that JYPE is capable of something like, I genuinely had the biggest faith in them out of all 4 big companies, but once again this proofs we don’t know what is going on behind the closed doors. I thought I learnt my lesson long time ago, but I’ve always found myself in this same sh*tty situation again. I hope the girls won’t experience any more harm from now on. (Please excuse any mistakes, but I wrote this sincerely from my heart and I don’t really feel like I should let the grammar checker check this one)

This wasn’t a survival show until 2022 hit later in December starting then, while Vcha was bought in with empathy creating their friendship, supporting everyone especially the youngest! People gotta stop comparing when Vcha was here before them, dream academy training studio wasn’t even a thing until they released all these episodes and pop star on netflix

It’s crazy reading the comments from a year ago say VCHA was going to have a bigger fanbase than Katseye and be more successful. But VCHA has been MIA for quite some time now. They were pulled from the biggest stages and festivals to get their name out there to the western market they were created for. I knew once they decided to debut the girl who was 13 during the time in which they were making a big deal about minors in the industry they weren’t going to get far. It’s sad but unfortunately it’s the price you have to pay for the decisions you make as a company.

I love Baemon, but they need to be in sync , im a 3rd gen stanner, so i obv habe a habbit of watching group, even if you actually realise that the 4th gen groups are also in syncs on stages, tiktoks, mv's, practice, so with rhe type of training period they have gone too, i obviously expect better
