I had to book many years ago, never could master it now you may open my eyes and thank you
Fantastic job!! Very impressive!!
So good!
Very cool Stewart
Love the shuffle groove
Dude this is killer! Sounds great 😘❤️❤️
Not a drummer, but the simple explanation makes me want to try to be one.
❤❤❤❤❤
I’m new to all of this, but I think that both hands were meant to be on the hats (not that it matters that much, I suppose) but definitely there were to be no accents played.
Fantastic, thanks! I can't believe this has so few views. Are we the only ones who got a drum set for Christmas?
EXCELLENT!
Sounds great my friend!
Good
Thankyou for explaining this 🙂👍
BRAVO
Stew I didn't know you sang. You sound good bro.
Thank you, Chris!
nice
isn't this a double paradiddle, but otherwise great tutorial
Yes, it’s called a double paradiddle as well as a paraparadiddle.
All goes well for me until it's time to speed up.

Best part is when you are playing….which shows the natural technique….
This is KILLER. 💥 ps - 2:30 is especially great
Excellent! You play this smoothly
hello, i've been looking for a great drum shuffle, how can i get your file! Thank you
Hello I am so sorry, I have moved on from the drum tracks. They have been deleted. Thanks
Like buttah!
Nicely done.. thanks... I’ve been working on this for a little while now... my left(snare) hand doesn’t want to cooperate 😂.... any tips on improving that?... thanks again
Hi Mark. Thanks for checking out my video. Ah, the left hand dilemma. Most drummers go through this. I'm a lefty so it would be my right hand. I went through this same exact thing. I think there are a few things you could do to help the situation. First thing, start slow. Maybe use a metronome, and start at slower tempo, around 80 or 90 bpm. Gradually increase the tempo. Not sure if you practice rudiments, but working on rudiments ALWAYS helps. I believe drummers can't go wrong by practicing rudiments. Check out this link. vicfirth.zildjian.com/education/40-essential-rudiments.html Also, do you know the Moeller technique? It's a great technique. It is part of my playing. I use it on every gig. ruclips.net/video/yaRl3IbMjgc/видео.html Lastly, I am playing a rim shot on the back back (beats 2 and 4) to bring out the "crack" of the snare. This takes some practice to get a consistent sound. ruclips.net/video/zkviTbbZr4k/видео.html Hope this helps.
@@StewartBurr Thanks for the tips... I have practiced rudiments and moeller, wouldn’t say fanatically but they absolutely help.... the metronome thing is what I’ve been doing and it’s coming along... then my hand says nope not yet!😂.... but practicing is fun and I enjoy it... only way to improvement.... thanks again!
Epic jazz sound!! Your group sounds incredible. Spot on drumming man
Thank you...I am very new to reading and these demonstrations helped!
Who????
I think Gary may have meant to use both hands on just the one hi-hat for system one. That's my interpretation.
Correct.
I think the way its shown here in the video is actually correct. Because there is a note in the book saying both hands are playing at the same time so be careful not to flam. That note wouldn't make sense if it was intended to be LRLR on 1 hi-hat
@@everynameistaken567 Good point.
@@everynameistaken567 I studied with Gary for five years back in the 80's. For this first system you play both hands in unison on one hi-hat not two hi-hats. Also the 16th's are even sounding without any accents. Stewart is accenting the first of every four 16ths here and that's not what Gary wanted. And by the way you can flam on a single surface take for example a practice pad.
@@macvoutie I think he os doing it the he feels comfortable with playing the exercise, for independence, groove and using the 5th limb and taking it slow with quantity over quantity. He is grooving on the exercises and praises the book in many ways so I’m not sure why the criticism here…
Sweet!
Great job! A bit about the dotted eighth and sixteenth approach (like Jim instructs to do) and how to actually count the exercises would be helpful. Many thanks
Thanks buddy that's so helpful
great playing
Wow! That was great!
Very smooth... great job
She's awesome !!!!
Cool!
Great cover.
