do you have to take take off and refill every so often just repack and fill the cap ?
Excellent job and clearly explained, I can’t wait to get mine this week to put it on my XI5 👏👏👏❤️
Thank you! Really appreciate that you did this and explained it so well.
Does it keep the transducer tight and in place? The Lowrance mount always loosens up.
Thank you do you put any sealant on the vault befire tapping it in?
I have read to use blue loctite on caps before hammering them back on. i forgot to do this on last bearing replacement and drove first 150 mile trip and when i got home cap was gone!
What kind of grease did you use? Thanks and nice video
Dexter Vault Hybrid grease
So with these Vault hubs, should they be maintenance free till you notice a leak? I have these hubs on my new trailer and I’m not familiar with them.
Yup, like anything else. Just keep an eye on them, and if you see something, you may have to go back in and fix.
Great video! Very informative and detailed. The same thing happened to me and this video really helped.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Definitely answered some questions I had
Thank you. Brake pads FYI come from a 1996 Kia Sephia, 19.00 bucks from O'Reilly's. I'm not kidding! Break the little squeally tab off the backing plate, you don't need that, takes 30 seconds to do 2.
how long did you beat on the seal before it came off?...I'm having some issues
Yeah they are in there pretty good. Takes some time sometimes. I just had to do one of my other wheels recently, and it was a bear.
Excellent job man … thanks for taking the time to film this.
There are two installation videos on RUclips. Yours and some guy that Fishobbsessed sponsored. His is terrible…. Yours is great. They should sponsor you! Thank you so much.
I 100% agree, they should sponsor him for doing an incredible job 👍
Could you tell me where the fuse block is located in this boat?
Do you remember what the part # was for the seal on the back of the hub/rotor? Was going to buy before I tore mine down.
No sorry. Your local marine dealer should know for your boat. You can also can your traler manufacturer and let them know your VIN#. Hope the video helps you though.
I enjoyed watching the video. Good information, but, did you put the rubber O-ring on, part of the Vault repair kit?
Yes, sorry if I missed that. When you take off the hub and bearings in front, there is a inner lip on the front lip that the old o-ring will need to be removed/replaced once cleaned...
Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Great video
Great job showing it… mines on the way..
Thanks for posting this have been thinking of doing something like this but wasn't sure how to start. Your video clears it up for me.
Once you open it and grease it again. Do you still need to check yearly if grease still good or since it vault system you good for awhile?
I just check them after every few trip to make sure seals are still good and not leaking. Still good to go as of today!
Great video thank you,was lookung mine over and the vault hub doesnt look to be sticking out real far . Is it possible it needs grease? I will be sure to use the hybrid grease you recommended.
Love my fish obsessed mount but don’t recommend the lock tight as it has a chemical reaction to the mount and it breaks. Had to get a replacement. But everything else is spot on
Best boat ever built hands down
Thanks Demetric. I absolutely love it. Best thing is I purchased it before the ridiculousprice increases. I've done quite a few upgrades to the rig since this video about 5 yrs ago. And think I may do an update video as well..Cheers!
Did you take the grease fitting back off or leave it on ?
I replaced it with a new one.
Take it off before putting the Vault hub back on.
got it done, thanks
Thanks for the video buddy
Are you still happy with the performance of the Chins batteries? I'm about to grab a full set for my boat.
Yes. They're still going strong and no issues. Think they're even less expensive now than when I got them almost 2yrs ago.
Great video. How did you jumper the battery’s to get the 200ah I’m going to do the same.
Wiring the 2 batteries in parallel will double amp hrs (100+ 100 =200). Here’s how to wire batteries in parallel: Connect the negative terminal of each battery to the negative terminal of the battery next to it. Do the same with the positive terminals. Connect the positive terminal of the last battery to the positive terminal on your application. Do the same with the negative terminals.
Great video! Thanks!
Pretty sure that is Romex 12-2 wire not duplex
No it's Duplex. Similar to Romex in homes but this is made for marine environment (solid vs marine tinned stranded wire). BTW I have upgraded this wiring since I created this video w 8GA Duplex wiring.
8/2 AWG Duplex Tinned Marine Wire, Red/Black 25 Feet a.co/d/gDuKPBW
Pretty sure that is Romex 12-2 wire not duplex
How and what did you make your separate pole mount to hold unit away from shaft of trolling motor? I need one of those.....thanks alot...
Great video man! I need to do this maintenance on my vault hubs. Thanks!
I love you’re boat, and have watched your channel before. Would you ever be interested in selling? I have cracks in my 2020 phoenix from factory and don’t know if they’ll warranty it. And I really want a legend.
At some point I'm sure I'll sell. Just not now. Really nothing I like out there to compare plus they're $$$$. There are some other V20s for sale of you're interested though. facebook.com/groups/1287726647911300/permalink/6280495911967657/
@@brewcrewfishing I’ve been waiting for approval into the group, I’ve been looking at v-20’s for a while but the ones I’d like is 40-75k
@@cjstammfishing2017 We'll once you get approved this one is $48.5k Very nice.
@@brewcrewfishing awesome thank you. I’ve seen a 18 with a 250 sho for 48k with 4 garmin units and garmin trolling motor. I’m probably going to buy without units because I’m blessed to work with lowrance.
Where does the O-ring go? On the cap?
I am trying to figure out the same. I just removed a set of vault from a boat trailer and I did not find any o rings yet it tells you to replace them.
Did you figure this out I’m wondering the same
@@tjswenson2394 I did not. Ended up having a way worse issue. Spindle was trashed once I got everything apart. Ended up having a shop replace the whole axle assembly. If you want my opinion I’d convert to an EZ lube axle that you can easily grease periodically. I’m no longer sold on Vault.
O-ring is inside front side of hub. Remove cap and look inside hub, you will see the grove and O-ring. Hope this helps, if you didn’t already figure this out.
Thanks for the video. Watched it 10 times while installing my new set of bearings/seals. Mine was doing the same thing, inner seal was leaking. Thanks
Very informative video. Thank you for taking the time to make/post it. I have a tandem axle trailer under my seaark and I have vault bearings. Within 14 months I've had 3 bearings go out and it's quite frustrating. I've been told they should last at least 6 years but my personal experience is much different. How often are you having to change/fix your vault bearings?
Really depends on how much you drive and the roads conditions I think. Always check your trailer before during and after a trip. Hubs are supposed to be maint free but I don't believe that.
Just ordered mine and it’s going on a Fishing Specialties pole so I’m assuming I just mount that on the Fishing Specialties bottom plastic rod ?
Very informative, thanks for putting this together!
You're welcome!
Thank you for making the video! How did it preform on the water?
good info, thanks
BILLS MAFIAAAAA
How many clicks are available in a full rotation? Turning to figure out how many degrees each click moves the mount.
Great video, thanks for sharing.
I do like the fact of knowing if my cranking battery does die for any reason. As we are well know they do and will die at the worst moment. Lol I would at least have a back up to get my big motor up and running. But I get why you switched but I will stay with a back up plan for starting my big engine. And also they do make some great lithium cranking batteries too in certain brands. I'm sure you already know this though.
Yeah if that happens I can just unhook the jumped one back on the cranking battery and get running. But that AGM literally has nothing else to do but crank and get charged running...
@@brewcrewfishing I use the Ionic 125ah for cranking and just my lights. Which hardly ever get used. But I do use my extra 125ah Ionic battery for graphs and as a back up for cranking battery
Here's a great source of information to use when debating the type and size of battery to use for cranking. www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=20671
get you a flat bar and bend it to a "U" done deal.
awesome video !!! helped a lot. Looking to add a support brace between my trolling motor shaft & live scanner…. any suggestions ???
No but if you find one let me know as well!
Thanks for the video, exactly what I've been looking for. Is there a military or discount code that they offer?
I'm not sure. I just paid for mine outright.
They do. Message them on Facebook or send an email. Took them about a day to respond to me with 10% off.
Hey Chris, my buddy was thinking about purchasing a 2015 Legend v20. Looks like you are still running one. Just wanted your thought. I have read that there were a couple of flaws, but not game changers.
They're beautiful rigs hands down. I always get compliments. Deck space is unmatched, rod and tackle storage is better than my previous 21' Triton. NO PLASTIC TO WEAR OUT. Everything is just quality. Bilge area is wide open for maintenance etc. Mine is a '15 as well and only thing close to it is the new Puma STS imho.. I do not care for the ez loader trailer though. Bascat trailers are the real deal! I had an aluminum I-beam with shocks and springs on my Triton and it was smooth as silk on the road. This not so much. Thanks for the comment!
When will they have some more for sale
I'm not sure. I would contact them direct if possible. I'm not sponsored by them just really like their product.
Looks like they're back in stock
Question , I noticed your axle had the arm hub assembly, is your axle a tor flex type or spring suspension. I just recently had a vault seal go out on a marine master trailer, and now in the process of awaiting to changing the axle. I’m thinking of proper maintenance and awareness in my future , it’s a major setback for sure. Great video Sir.
Yes it is a torsion axle.
The boat I had before (Triton) had a beast of a trailer. Aluminum I beam tandem with shocks and spring. 21'9" boat literally floated down the highway...
