Macintosh always sounds fantastic, but those vintage speakers please any modern speaker even under $500 will blow those away anytime of the day people need to stop with that vintage speaker stuff. They really suck.

I love Mcintosh gear. Except for moving it. Some of their amps weigh in over 100 pounds. I worked at a store in the 90's that carried Mcintosh and I remember unloading this crate that was mono block amps. I thought it was speakers because of the weight. It took 2 of us to set them up in the listening room. I couldn't believe it. 125 pounds per side of amplification.Then I seen Krell and Bryston amps that were like that too.

Love your videos. Here is some addition info you will find interesting. Sansui speakers were generally made in Japan not the USA. After watching your video I thought these look identical in every way to my KLH AV33 speakers I picked up few months ago. Did some research and found this: “Sansui made a collaboration with KLH to produce those speakers. very heavy weight boxes, closed ones.they sounds nice-great "big" bass and detailed highs” I have to agree they sound absolutely fantastic and are extremely well made.

Worst investment I ever made was on a pair of Sansui speakers that had reflecting drivers that fire out the top towards the back wall, they sounded bad, no real bass. Beautiful cabinet and grill. Don't remember what model they were. 50+ years ago.

Just hooked up a pair of theese yesterday to my sansui 771 sounds awesome

i hooked it ti a bluetooth receiver with rca cable and then use my phone as a music player. then buy a 10k potentiometer and hook it to the vca port so you can enjoy the power of the amp.

Vacuum tubes, electron tubes, or valves in Europe, operate by thermionic emission. In other words the part of the tube (cathode) that makes electrons flood the inside of the tube needs to get hot. So the heat is necessary and not an issue to the tube. They are designed to be very hot. Again, heat is not an issue with tubes.

I was a stereophile back in the day but at 68,I am long out of the game. You are doing a great service to those who have not entered the digital world. I no longer have a turntable or Stereo unit and do mostly CDs and MP3s on the pc. I still have a few rarities from back in the day but keep them as mementos more than day to day listening.

Also a lot of German speakers from the 70/80ties, Braun, Canton, Heco, Wega(partly Sony), Grundig, Saba etc are worth it to try. Most of those speakers have a 'closed cabinet' and start at pretty low hz. Using some nice Canton LE-900 speakers at this moment.

Stacking records like that unfortunately makes them warp & unplayable ..

I got some of the Sade records and original first press johnny Mathis records for free, I have a really cheap pioneer record player but I will be saving up for a better one. I got 117 records for free I'm grateful.

Do you ever upgrade older speakers with better parts? I want to on ny vintage bookshelf bostons,The only thing ive done is to remove the foam,greatly improved the midrange!,Try it

Ok I have owned 2 Sony Str 7065s...70 wpc...bought one in 1974 from Crazy Eddies for $349.00 bucks.Loved it.But back then you had to have 100 wpc...lol.I bought Sony ,because they are excellent and built to last.John Lennon had a Sony Str 6055 also the Allman Brothers have a Sony Str7065 in the House in Georgia ,there museum. I Sold it back in the 80s to buy a 100 watts,Lafayette...lol.I bought another one Sony Str 7065 ,5 years ago ...still plays great...I had Bose 901s, 2s hooked up to the Sony in the 70s and 80s.I bought them used from a guy in Manhattan, he lived on 59 st ,they were a year old he paid 600 ,I bought them for $350...

i haven't seen a Technics 1200 MK2 in person at any shop in really nice condition below $600 it's usually a $600-900 USD price range.i know you can import a used 1200 MK2 in beat up crusty looking condition online from $400-600 but you never know how good of working condition it is actually in till you receive it.good thing about Technics 1200s they can take a beating and still function really well.if i could find a MK2 in nice condition for $400-600 USD i would buy it right away i would consider it a really good deal.brand new turntables from other brands in that $400-900 USD price range can't compare to Technics when it comes to sound and build quality.

I've got five times that amount of stuff here and have tried to sell things in the past but all I get is $10 offers and no shows. I had two pair of JBL 250ti speakers in new condition and found them to be unsellable. The same with dozens of other high end pieces. I got one dirtbag after the other who wanted everything for pocket change. One guy told me that the 250ti and L100's I had were junk and no one wants big speakers or old receivers anymore. A two year long ad on CL got me zero replies. The same goes for cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and furniture. FB is worse turning up nothing but data miners. I must not be alone because every last vintage record shop and hifi store in the area has closed up in the past few years. We used to have a dozen shops that specialized in vinyl and used turntables but all are gone now. eBay brings more money but sales there are few and far between too and you risk the chance of finding a scammer or the sale item being damaged in transit.

Where an how to find them? It is hard here in MA as they dont show up anhymore at yard sales and no longer at Goodwill or old used shops.

Do you have a list of models and the prices for what you are going to sell? I am looking for a receiver. Have loads of speakers already.
