My business began when I moved in to my first 800 square foot apartment. I had a large space to furnish with a tiny budget. I quickly learned how to paint furniture out of necessity, and it turned into a full-blown passion!

How to Create a Resist Using a Wax Puck
Exactly what I was looking for - thanks for the great video!😊
Outstandingly clear and simple instructions... thanks!
This is such an easy step by step tutorial to follow! I thoroughly believe I can take on the task now :)
😊
I loved the tip about putting the screw in the drill hole case to find the right size - never thought of that before! Good simple instructions - thank you.
Hi! Great video! Will this method be good to use to attach 21" legs to a table top?
So helpful thanks
I prefer to allow it to dry an hour, then remove.
THANK YOU!!
steel wool would be 4 ott,, thats what this antique dealer used and had positive results,,
Simply expained thank you! Would you agree this method would work with chunky 16"H bench legs?
This video was well done.
Beautiful!!!! Love this color!!
Helpful, thank you!!
The 'side door" is not for storage, it hold the Chamber pot.. Also this a 'production piece', meaning its not "hand made" probably part of a set of bedroom furniture made ina factory and would have been ordered via a catalog. Those joints are machine done The details (with the exception of the center drawer detail) are not "Hand Carved" but all the straight line work is machine cut. It would have been worth more with the original hardware (even with one missing) that those you used,
Thanks 😊
Hermle movement
Thanks for this tutorial Jenn!! That's a lovely piece too!
Thanks Cindy!!!
I learned at least 2 new tricks! Great video and instructions. Thank you
You’re so welcome! 😇
This is beautifully done, and I will follow the instructions to attach the legs to my mosaic-topped wooden tables . Thank you!
So glad you found it helpful!
Love it, very helpful. Thanks
ill be using that hanger bolt trick for hanging big perches for my parrots,
So glad you found it to be helpful!!
thank you very much, so helpful
Never use steel wool on bare wood. The tiny steel fiber will lodge in the grain and will react to tannins in the wood causing black rust spots
Where is your sofa from?
Thank you! It’s the Trixie set from Raymour and Flannigan Outlet 😍
This was nicely done. Good videos.
Ty so much!!!
My pleasure, Lily!
Very interesting
Amazing, thank you so much!
My pleasure, Danijela!
Thank you!!! Subscribed!!!
Didn't realize how much in demand these carts are. I have one in an online auction and am amazed (and happy) how high the bidding is. I used Ocean Mist spray paint, but dislike using toxic chemicals. This sounds so much better. But does not look like a dealer is close by. I am running out of weather warm enough to spray paint so I am going to try milk paint on some of my stuff. TFS.
I have a victorian eastlake carved walnut cylinder roll top desk that has been in a fire, has a few broken pieces I have most of them save a part or 2, what do I use to remove old soot and its piece number 46 I belive it has Roman numerals xlvi carved into the piece is it worth restoring?
Try oxalis acid for the stains. If the wood is charred, it may not be possible to restore it.
One of the most simplest video guides to do this! Thank you so much!
Wahoo!!! So glad it was helpful 🥳
This was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much!!!
My pleasure!!!
Is that really strong enough to hold those feet? Seems if you tipped the furniture on two of those feet, the bolt would bend. It's only being held in by like 1/4 inch.
So glad you asked about their strength! Because the bolts are screwed into a metal plate underneath, they are very strong. Remember, the majority of the bolt is in the wooden feet, so it’s a very strong system. Our chest has held up incredibly well, and we do move it very often!
Awesome!! Thank you!!
interesting at first but too much talking🙄😒 ..lost my interest now..
Thanks for watching! There's a lot of up front information most users need if they're new to MMS Milk Paint :)
I just scored a full bed bedroom set with a dry sink with mirror and nightstand with all original hardware and some signs of wear, but no gauges.I paid 150 from a guy on craigslist.the product you are using looks like just what the Dr. Ordered. Thank you for the video it was very informative.I am only learning about Eastlake furniture today.I knew once I saw the drawer joints ,that it was old.aparently the owner of the set had no idea what he had as it was left inside a home he purchased full of the previous owners belongings. Is this a good deal? Thank you in advance
So glad you found the video to be helpful! I can't really speak to whether that's a good deal because prices vary depending on where you live and how limited antiques are in your area. If you think it was a good buy, that's all that matters!
Very nice!
Don't buy! They changed the formula and its crap now. Does not remove like the previous product.
Hi Ken! Thanks so much for weighing in here. You're right - Citristrip, like many products in the paint industry, needed to change its formula to stay in compliance with Prop65 regulations. While the formula is different, I personally still find it works. Patience and applying enough product is key. You can certainly use a more caustic stripper, but it comes with side effects like increased safety and disposal concerns. You can read more about why I prefer Citristrip here: www.eighthundredfurniture.com/how-i-refinish-wood-surfaces/
I just used Citristrip for the first time to remove latex paint from my master bath countertop. I am preparing to use Rustoleum Oil based pant to cover the service. Thank you for the tip to use 0000-grade steel wool along with the mineral spirits. Had the Mineral Spirits, NOT THE WOOL! I appreciate your input!!!
I'm so glad that you found this tutorial helpful! The steel wool really makes all the difference. If you're going to follow up with a water-based paint, make sure you let the mineral spirits dry for 24+ hours. ;-)
I love that ugly cart as is, but you improved it with milk paint. It's really versatile on wheels.
Seems straightforward
Turn your camera. I can only see the middle portion of the screen.
Yes, I know 🙂 This video was filmed in my Instagram stories, so that format is vertical. Thanks for watching!
Great video and tips. Thank you 🌸🦋💕
I’m all about painting furniture. I’m just learning about antiques and how to identify them. Since this piece is so old...your still going to paint it? Do you ever not paint a piece? How do you decide?
Hi Lynette! This piece had a tired and worn finish, so I didn't feel terrible about painting it. It's really a personal decision. If you would like the piece better painted, then by all means...paint it! That being said, I don't usually paint over really gorgeous wood grain like Bird's Eye Maple or Burled Wood Veneer. Those I try to let be. The choice really is up to you :)
I love this video!! Do I have to use Mineral spirits? I saw on another video they just use a brush and water to wash after the citristrip. I don't want to use too much chemicals.
I DO NOT suggest using water. Water could potentially warp your wood and cause excess raising of the wood grain. The odorless Mineral Spirits get rid of the excess "goo" from the stripper and are essential for getting a surface that is clean and ready to be sanded down. :) Great question!
@@EightHundredFurniture Thank you for responding!! :)
I reuse my chip brush. I only use it for specific project and label it as citristrip with permanent marker.
Is the music in the background what Tieks uses for its shoe ads???
Ha! I don’t know actually. Mine was purchased in iTunes 🥰
Jenn, I am so glad I met you at the show in Lebanon! I now follow you and watch your tutorials, and feel I have learned so much from you. Your tutorials are exceptional! Thank you! Thank you! The piece is beautiful by the way.
