Yamaha Motif XF Demo, Review, Sound Design and Simple Beat making[No Talking].

The Yamaha Motif series started in 2001.They Changed the sounds and style of the sounds from the previous Yamahas before it. They were sort of competing with the Korg Triton, which was very popular at that time. It had a lot of acoustic and realistic sounding sounds, but they did it better than the Triton and they eventually passed the Triton in popularity. The Motif series wound up staying rel...

    That's interesting mate. Especially considering Kurzweil saying the K2700/PC4 lines are mostly the same in terms of hardware specs. Are they using difference converters on the 2700 maybe? The codebase is supposed to be the same as well. I've had a PC3k8 for about 10 years now and after I bought that I went backwards and bought a K2600x. Those two sounded pretty similar I thought. Similar enough that I eventually sold the k2600x. Now I'm kind of looking for the PC3k replacement and was looking at the pc4-7 mainly because of space issues. Thanks for the great overview by the way. Not that many Kurzweil videos out there of this type.

    • @g-soul4771
      @g-soul4771 Год назад

      I would say if you are concerned about cinematic sounds, synths and modern sound design. If you more concerned with overall bread and butter sounds stick with the Kurweil PC3 because it’s more organic. You can always get sound libraries to compete with the pc4 sounds. The K2700 sounds like a PC3 and a K2600 but with the modern sounds of a PC4 so it’s almost like they went back to the old organic converters.

      @@g-soul4771 I produce UK garage, all kinds of techno, house, some dub step etc. The only thing I want/need is the VAST synthesis. I like the Kurzweil sound as far as digital goes. That and the CZ line of synths is kind of the only digital I have/use right now. The PC3K replacement is more to do with the fact that some things are starting to fail on my PC3K. The modulation wheel is squeaky and I broke a few keys in the upper register. Can be replaced but 10 years is a long time in the life of a studio keyboard. And this keyboard has travelled the world with me. I bought it in Sydney Australia when I was living there and then took it with me when I moved back to the UK. Then it went with me to Canada when i was working in Vancouver a while. Then to Austin TX after that where I was working/living. It's had a pretty busy life this keyboard. The only sounds I want are the synth sounds. The rest doesn't see much use. That's interesting that they went with different converters on the K2700. I was really hoping to save some space and maybe get rid of the weight. The PC47 is about the same height as my PC3K as well which is kind of my limit as far as keyboard height (space issue) so it's kind of perfect dimensions wise. The K2700 is taller which wouldn't work in my setup. I also like the empty space on my PC3 on the left and right side of the keyboard. I put my trackpad on the left. Not possible with the PC4 because of the modulation wheels but maybe I can use my right hand I don't know. Anyway, some other issues to consider. Mostly ergonomics. But it sounds like I'll have to listen to them side by side and see what's what. Thanks for the heads up.

      @@Screaming-Trees The PC4 is the best for electronic music and synth sounds. It is also half the cost of a k2700. It is digital compared to the K2700. The K2700 was created for People who want that old school kurzweil sound but with the new Pc4 sounds. They also wanted to use the old Krz libraries. So that’s all you paying for in a K2700. @@g-soul4771 Nice one thanks. How's the keyboard on the 7? Not the nice Fatar on the PC3k I understand but I am hoping it's a bit better than on the 88 note (I tried the PC4 88 and didn't really like the keybed that much).

    Arrived after seeing the item on ebay. The 13inch. Too bad you have zero feedback. Plus, with these apps, you really need at least 32 megs of ram.

      Maybe after effects. But I don’t have problems with nothing else. After affect runs the same on my 32g and 16g. You just got to be patient with it. Photoshop, premiere pro and all the music apps and vsts, people have been running them for years on 8g. Ssd drive also plays a part on the loading speed of apps. All my videos demonstrate all these app and the whole world see that they do just fine. Also a lot of people feel that anything past 16 g is a scam unless you run like 20 apps at a time all the time. Do your research.

      I would say go for. It beats everything even a PC4. The only thing that can compete is a Montage and Kronos but it has the edge on both of those when it come to good sounds and daw is integration.

    Really good demo. Just got my Krome EX 73 and loving it. First bought the new MODX7 Plus but couldn't update the firmware though I did everything right. Turns out there was a problem with a bunch of them. Sent it back and got the Krome, couldn't be happier, love it. The acoustic piano sounds alone are worth it, but you show what you can really do with it, can't wait to approach some of that.

    A really useful run through of the patches!! I’ve got the FA07 which I was really lucky to get a used one here in Australia. Nobody is selling their old FA’s because they are such amazing value, still. The weakest patches are the brass and electric guitars in my humble opinion- even the PSR series from Yamaha are much better. The pianos, EP, pads and synths are epic, and the sequencer is pretty easy to use. That was one of main reasons I got this unit as having my existing midi board permanently setup to my DAW was just too much hassle as I need to work on the same laptop!! Stand-alone rules - and nothing stopping importing a midi sequence into a DAW later and re-assigning with your favourite VSTi’s.

      This one is a little more synthy sounding than most Rolands which is not too much of a bad thing but the acoustics are not as strongs as say the integra 7. It is a perfect standalone instrument though and it damn fun to use.

    I have the krome Ex 73 and it works well for me. I do use a good pair of AT 50 headphones due to the fact i see many people use headphones that add base and the like (looking at you beats by D.) and it changes the sound profile. Good rundown of the Ex man--rock on.

    I have both. But my Kronos 2 is the limited edition Titanium version that looks like a d@mn Trinity/Triton. Kronos 2 is great for live performances. Since it has performance physical buttons and ribbon strip. Nautilus is great for studio use. Nautilus has same synth engines/effects/sampling as Kronos 2. Plus Nautilus has updated modern sounds and the old af Kronos 2 sounds. I can make my Nautilus sound exactly like an old af Kronos 2 preload. Cant make a Kronos 2 sound like a modern Nautilus preload. So Nautilus is superior in the sounds regard. Kronos 2 is superior in the live physical controls regard. It has vector stick. Surface controls. Ribbon strip. Aftertouch. It also has digital i/o. Although that bs is nothing. Since output is only stereo tracks. Not 16. I prefer the interface on Nautilus over the ancient bs on Kronos 2. Even though Kronos 2 screen is bigger. It is not clearer than Nautilus. Kronos 2 interface goes all the way back to Trinity. So if you have Trinity/Triton/etc, you will be able to work the sequencer, effects, etc in Kronos 2, easily. IDGAF about Karma. I prefer arp in Nautilus. I also prefer look of Nautilus. Kronos 2 Titanium looks like a 1995 Trinity with a bigger screen. Nautilus stands tf out. The 61 and 73 keys.

      There used to be a series of Korgs (m1, N series and X series) in the 90’s that had a distinct sound that everybody like. Korg lost that sound around the the time the triton and trinity came out. The Kronos bought back that sound it was clear and high quality but depressing and lo fi at the same time. A lot of korg fans fell in love with Kronos after being disappointed so many times in the late 90’s and the early 2000’s. That’s why the Kronos stayed relevant till this day because it’s a masterpiece. The Nautilus is underrated. It is an improvement but it is aimed towards the modern age which I feel would be better as a vst or stripped down like a Krome. Korg should have made the nautilus the korg krome at that price and scrapped the original krome.
