Quick Fix for Loss of Sensitivity in Roland V-Drums PDX-6 and PDX-8 Trigger Pads
I'd like to share a quick fix for the age-related loss of trigger sensitivity sometimes experienced by older Roland V-Drums PDX-6 and PDX-8 trigger pads. This gets you back up and running without having to order replacement parts and then waiting for them to arrive. It's fairly easy to do with simple tools and materials you probably already have.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Beyond The Next Rise - Song by Academy Shore - Music Video
Просмотров 1667 месяцев назад
Like most of us, I have plenty of regrets from the past. Beyond The Next Rise explores the notion of all of them gathered into one place such as a reunion event of some sort. What would it look like to face the combined weight of all of them at once? For the video production, the only things I bought were two poseable wooden mannequins and one airplane-sized bottle of whiskey. Everything else w...

Here's the music video for a new song I wrote/recorded as part of my music creation endeavor ACADEMY SHORE (academyshore.com). I wanted to get Clooney or Pitt, but I regret that my production budget of $0.00 forced me to cast myself in all the roles contained herein. Enjoy. I was inspired to write this song after noticing a few people over the years pan-handling with fairly clever signs on disp...
Making A DIY Canister Throne - Build a custom homemade adjustable canister throne for your drum kit
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.2 года назад
A canister throne is a hollow drumming seat that can also be used like a trap case to carry your gear. This video demonstrates a DIY method to make one at home from a couple 5 gallon buckets and some cheap hardware. This is essential for portable drum sets such as vintage Purecussion RIMS/Headset kits and the like.

I've created a music video for a song I recently finished writing/recording as part of my music creation endeavor known as ACADEMY SHORE (academyshore.com). I had to dig pretty deep to make it happen because just like my music production effort, my video operation is also a one-man-show. Enjoy. www.academyshore.com/ for more on the Academy Shore music effort
Classic Car 1968 Dodge Charger RT 440 Magnum - Old muscle car risen from the rust in a photo montage

I bought this car as a rusty heap thinking I'd race it but instead I parked it for nearly 30 years before finally deciding to make it beautiful again. I'm glad I never sold it although I did consider it few times. It's good to have it back on the road taking the journey with me still.
Video of Trains Running in the HO Scale Town of Ericson

See the HO scale town of Ericson mainly from the POV of the trains that run there. It's a fresh way to view a model railroad compared to the helicopter overhead view you tend to get when you visit a layout in person. Enjoy!
Model Railroad Town of Ericson - Find the ghost of Elvis while touring this HO scale layout

Please enjoy a tour of the HO scale railroad town of Ericson complete with background music written and performed by me. See if you can find the ghost of Elvis on the layout. No-Machine easy sod/turf removal method
Просмотров 813 тыс.3 года назад
This shows a process for removing turf/sod without using a powered sod cutting machine. It's not so much the cost of renting a machine but rather the fact that I don't have a truck or a trailer hitch for transporting it. This process streamlines the job of pulling up existing turf and produces nice neat rolls of sod that you can pass on to someone else to use. Saves you the trouble and expense ...

Rush - Limelight Drum Cover - Using only a 5 pc kit with single kick
Просмотров 7123 года назад
Neil Peart was a pioneer in elevating what could be done in rock drumming and influenced a generation of drummers to do more and to do it better. I've listened to Rush plenty over many years but have never done much of their music in the bands I've played in. Neil's passing this year inspired me to record a drum cover of one of my favorite Rush songs. I had to adapt it a bit for my humble 5-pc ...
Could you use a lawn edger / trencher blade instead of a skillsaw?
Totally! Many viewers have said they used an edger to make the straight cuts. I don't have one of those. Tried using a line-trimmer, but it just couldn't cut deep enough. Thx
Great idea... probably use an edger to cut the grass if you have one
Agreed! Thx
I’m having a slightly different issue with mine. When recording midi, the snare is triggering notes (extra notes) that I’m not playing. I’m thinking this is a sensor issue. Any thoughts on that? Thanks!
Not sure. The only time I've had extra triggering was when 2 pads mounted close together (on the same arm) would sometimes trigger each other due to vibrational crosstalk. There are often settings to reduce this in the control module (search "xtalk cancel roland" to find info about where to find those for your kit). Sorry I'm not much help on this one. Good luck.
Playback speed os normal? 😂
This is a great idea thanks so much I have the same problem can’t wait to go back home and fix it the way you did.
Nice! Hope it's useful. Thanks!
Thank you!
My pleasure. Hope it's useful!
Thanks for sharing this mad scientist effective message.
What tool is needed to remove the cover? Thanks
The tool I'm using to remove the 6 screws for the cover/head is a standard drum key (1/4" inch square). I guess I didn't mention that part. Thanks!
@@IsomEric Thanks!
wow nice work around!
Hope it's useful... thanks!
Wow, I am 77. My symptoms are just like yours. I have been suffering for more than five decades because I am so afraid of surgery. I will try your advice and I will get back to you with the result.
I hope it helps you. Thx!
During the summertime, as a Korean, I was barefooted at home, which means I was able to wiggle my toes. I thought the state of my foot improved. No, not at all😢. You helped me a lot with the pain reduction. Thank you so much, Eric(?). My bunion is much bigger than that of the video’s. I am almost jealous of your wisdom or smartness to think of sewing the socks. (Like those of Columbus’ Egg’s case) Bunion socks are inconvenient to wear and very costly. I will advertise your discovery or invention.
@@saimmoul Very happy to hear it was useful to you. Thanks!
Good grief. Just wait for it to rain. Next sunny day, put the shovel underneath and lift, put it in a wheelbarrow, lay it on topsoil. Water. Works great.
Your soil must very different from the hard clay we have here. I started by trying to skin the turf off with a shovel and it was a back-breaker just to get the first 10' up. After that it was clear to me that a more efficient solution was needed. Thx
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Holy Cow! All these videos on how to use machines, special cutters, dang, you name it and all I need to do is cut a slash in the grass with my circular saw and then roll it up! YOU ARE A DIY GENIUS! Your so good, that I'm subscribing right now - you earned it!
Thanks for the support! Hope it's useful.
why did you rip up that beautiful sod?
Great question! It was too small for my kids to use to play on - we have a bigger stretch of turf in our backyard for that. The small size also made it hard to water efficiently - a lot of overspray on the surrounding pavement and rock. We replaced it with a nice rock/mulch/shrub area that looks better and requires only a small amount of drip irrigation to maintain. It was easy to get someone else to take it because it was in nice useable condition - the guy who picked it up said he would be reinstalling it in his yard to give his kids a soft spot to play on. Thanks!
This is amazing! However, use a lawn edger instead of a circular saw (if you've got one 🙂)
Agreed! Edger works better if you've got one. Thanks.
Great video. I have already sprayed and killed the areas of zoysia that I'm converting shrubs and flowers. I'll see what this method yields given this difference. Thanks for the ingenious and money-saving idea.
Hope it's useful. Thanks!
Now I know how to remove sod in my back yard....
Hope it's useful.
I like this video, it sounds like an old Red Green documentary HeHeHe 🤣
Indeed... if women don't find ya handsome, they should at least find ya handy. Keep your stick on the ice!
I just put cardboard over the grass, covered it with bark chips. The grass is totally gone without much work involved.
I looked at doing that, but I didn't have time to let it die. That's a great approach if you've got the time to wait it out. Thanks.
@@IsomEricThat was going to be my reply. I have killed small patches with cardboard and mulch.
BRILLIANT!! Thank you
Hope it's useful. Thanks!
Why risk ruining an electric saw? Use a hand saw.
I found that it doesn't seem to harm the electric saw itself, it only harms the blade if it's not a utility blade suitable for masonry. Cutting into dirt will harm the blade on a hand saw just the same. I chose a powered tool mainly to reduce the wear and tear on my tired old body. Thanks.
To cut the sod from the soil, I use a saws-all wood blade fitted with a homemade handle.
Sounds reasonable... thanks for the tip.
You're a genius. Thank you for this. Probably just saved my neck and back some serious pain, and a good 50% of the hours I was about to lose working on this. Hopefully i don't hit any big rocks with the sawblade :P
Thanks for sayin' - Hope it works out!
Use a half moon spade instead of a circular saw...lift with a fork
You could use an edger instead of a circular saw, it's a long handled semi circle looking tool.
Yep, I used one of those all the time as a kid doing yard work with my folks. I no longer have one, but many viewer have said the same thing about using edgers (powered or manual) instead of the saw. Whatever gets the job done! Thanks
I HATE GRASS, I JUST WANT DIRT
Easier to just not water it for a few weeks and just hoe out the dead grass. That's a pretty nice lawn to just give away; Thats $100 worth of sod
I didn't have enough time left in the season to let it die, so I had to make it happen somehow. I agree I probably could've gotten some money for my turf, but I wanted it gone quickly. I was happy to see it go to a good home.
@@IsomEric Im wondering if you just put an ad on craigslist with a pic of the lawn saying "You come and dig it out, you can have it"
Thank you this is so helpful
Np... hope it's helpful!
This is brillant idea. I need to remove the grass about 2m×2m size. I will let you know in a few days if it works well. Thank u for sharing idea.
Hope it works out. Thanks!
Brilliant technique, thank you. However you have speeded up your voice (I think) and it makes it unpleasant to listen to. Much better to talk at your normal rate (imo).
I like listening that fast. You can always slow it down in the settings
I'd use a grass edger instead of a saw. It was made for grass and dirt.
@sf6476 Yep - Use it if you've got. Several other viewers have opted for the edger.
Thank you Jesus!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Hope it helps. Thanks!
Best!
It works good for sod that still green, But if you have dry patches grass that was not watered for so long, Not applicable…
Ingenious. Thanks very much for this video
Hope it's useful. Thanks!
As someone who work at turf farm using sodcutter everyday, this is very impressive
impressive
Neighbor: “Martha!…Jim’s out cutting his lawn with a circular saw again. Should we contact the mental institute?”😂😂
Martha: "Nah... just bring him a cold beer."
This. Is. Frigging. Brilliant. I've spent the past 3 days trying to pull up the sod in my front yard - I have blisters on my blisters. I'm totally stealing this idea. Thank you!
Sounds familiar - my wife and I were exhausted after going chunk by chunk ripping up just the first 10 feet. Plus it nearly filled the compost bin. I hope it helps. Thx!
If you keep on doing it, like for the next 5 years straight, those blisters turn into hard calluses. You'll be stronger than ever!
This is a crazy method.. I just rented a sod cutter for $78 from HomeDepot.. Very easy to use only took about 2hrs to cut and remove the sod from a 25x15foot area. Yes you need a truck or small trailer to get the sod cutter.. But the sod cutter is the way to go!!
"Crazy good", maybe... am I right!? Yeah, I don't even have a trailer hitch, so I was looking at a truck rental as well as renting the cutter. Decided to go the Red Green route instead.
Madness.
People thought Nikola Tesla was crazy... *sigh*...
Very innovative, nice results.
Thx for sayin'
Not sure how I can just tell from a nondescript neighborhood, but this is colorado!
Well spotted.
I just place weighted construction trash bags over anything I don't want to grow, then remove em 3 weeks later.
That's a great way to go if you have the time to wait for the turf to die.
an edger > circular saw
Yep. If you have an edger, use it instead of the circular saw - saves both work and self-respect.
This is genius
Many thanks!. Hope it's helpful.
I'm going to do this to level a large high area and put it back flat. Thank you.
Great idea! I never thought of that application. Hope it goes well.
what types of saw blade are you use for?
I used a general-purpose abrasive saw blade intended mainly for masonry. It was about $15-20 at my local DIY center. I bought it many years ago and it's been useful for many types of jobs (like this weird situation). Thx
@@IsomEric Got it. Thank you
Great technique! I’ll use an edger to make the cuts instead of a circular saw.
I’m not sure if I’m doing it wrong or my gras is of a different kind or the soil is too heavy but as I start to roll and cut after a few inches the grass tears apart and I have to repeat the initial part with the shovel which breaks the purpose. I’m not sure why this is happening.
Hmmm... I suppose the type of grass and soil composition could affect the results. My grass did seem to have a dense fabric of roots holding it together nicely, so I never really experienced what you're describing. Maybe some grasses don't hold together as well. Bummer.
Ill use my edger not circular saw, but the the rest is ingenious. Thanks for the video. Now time for me to get cracking 😅
Sounds good - several other viewers have commented that they used a power edger instead of the saw to cut the lines. Hope it goes well!
