Why the grip is not completely coving the specimens width? This specimen holding can induce an unbalanced load along the specimen, which effect the value
The ASTM website says they use extra fabric to the sides, so that the test results in a value close to the value of fabric with surrounding material.

@3:21 Error in calculation. Per ASTM D792 specific gravity is not (a/(a-b))*(.781). It should be (a/(a-b)*(specific gravity of liquid). Specific gravity does not have any units and multiplying by density will yield units.
