A movie adaption of this book should’ve been made in 1999 or 2000. But sadly, the first movie ended up failing at the box office so badly. As a result, GoodTimes went bankrupt in 2005 before Gaiam brought the company afterward forming GT Media. By the end of the 2000s Gaiam stopped using the GT Media brand with the company solely distributing yoga and fitness media under the ladder label. In 2012, the company acquired and merged with Vivendi Entertainment renaming the combined subsidiary Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment. In October 2013, Cinedigm (now Cineverse) purchased Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment before Gaiam exited the home entertainment industry with the subsidiary merging with Cinedigm's New Video to form a standalone distributor under the Cinedigm name.

20:46 -- The song from this has stuck with me for years. You could say it's like an earworm. 🥁🥁📀

The intro starts as the TV turns on resulting in the old instrumental Bizak jingle at the time, complete with TV static sounds switching 3 times in various points with in-universe cartoons of Fairy Tails and Back Off Buzzard!, ripped exactly from the commercials, albeit the vulture laughs at the end of the latter. Fairy Tails singer:"Once upon a rainbow tree, a fairy is each lovely bird!" Back Off Buzzard! Man 1:"Give me the treasure!" Man 2:(takes it back) "No, give me the treasure!" Singer:"Back off, Back off buzzard!" The men get scared, and the children run away screaming as the buzzard laughs. The TV switches one final time as the camera zooms into The Wild Puffalumps background used at the beginning of The Wild Puffalumps with the Water Pets text as the announcer says, "And now, Playskool presents the Water Pets!" in the exact same voice as the end of the commercial. An extended version of the theme song plays with scenes from the cartoon including Stormfront the lion, which is just a recycled Stone Creature from the Hanna-Barbera version of Godzilla. Singers:"Water Pets, Water Pets, doo wa-wa Water Pets, Water Pets, Water Pets, Love getting Water Wet, They jump in the water, they don't need a boat, cause all the Water Pets love to float!" The characters introduce themselves on a blue background. Complete with the Yum Yums voices. "I'm Paige, I'm Lulu, I'm Jumbo, I'm Roary, I'm Spray and I'm Stripes!" The announcer then states the obvious. "Introducing Water Pets!" "They're the coolest pets around!" "Oh, and Water Pets are fun IN and OUT of the tub!" Nessie:"Bathtime!" Jumbo:"Let's Go, you guys!" Singers: (The obvious) Singers:"Water Pets!" Water Pets: (ripped from Snorks) "Hooray!" Nessie:"GRRRRRRR" Almost the entire theme, animations and sound effects are ripped straight from the commercial, with a few slight alterations to fit the cartoon. They then cheer, which is stolen from the Yum Yums. At the end of the theme song, the announcer then states the obvious again, this time from the commercial as the The Wild Puffalumps jungle background appears again, this time Paige the red puppy, Lulu the blue cat, and Jumbo the yellow bear jump out of nowhere at the top of the Water Pets logo. "Water Pets!" "Each sold separately, from Playskool!" The Water Pets then laugh, obviously from the Snorks.

I thought this was a fever dream I had!

You know how long LEDs last? That thing must've been up there forever. Or it's experiencing technical difficulties. Notice how the other lights aren't flashing. Might be an electrical short.

There was also a white tiger named Thunder. Oh, and they played UNDERwater sports. They also swim around only to see a rock in their way. They pull the rock underwater in the pool which then leads to cheering. The cheering sounds are stock and are combined from the Snorks and the Yum Yum cartoons. In fact, this dream show is the mix of tone from the Care Bears, Dark villains from My Little Pony, water, pool, and underwater theme from Sweet Sea, and character designs that almost resemble the Yum Yum from the Yum Yums cartoon!

You can't even replace bulbs in these.

I played one of the worms in second grade back in 1974

In my dreams, I noticed some more footage. I found that when the Water Pets were underwater in the pool, playing games and searching for the mermaid castle, there was an ironically slow, but friendly cheetah named Tracy who had Sourpuss Sue's voice, and a crane named Coby, who has Nicholas "Nick" McClary's voice from Wish Kid.

Based on from what I've seen in Chris O' Neal's videos in the dreamworld, The characters had the same voices as in the Yum Yum cartoon, especially Paige, who used Lucky Lemon Lion's voice for some reason. Jumbo the yellow bear with a lifeguard swimsuit and some weird spade-like tail used Goody Grape Mouse's voice.

Yikes. It's like it's trying to imitate the Three Stooges, but it sounds so eerie.

Searching over 40 years for this book and record. Would like to have my 78 year old mom hear the record, she has dementia Alzheimers and loves Peter Pan record stories, it would mean the world to my family. If you ever have a moment please please upload the record!! This may be our only opportunity to hear this story. It taught us to have empathy and to be more inclusive when we were kids. It has a huge significance for us and we have searched everywhere to play it for Mom/Grandma in NJ. Wow crying here, please consider if you can find a record player!

Yup! To avoid confusion with Puffalumps, the show took place in a pool. There was a land-living Loch Ness Monster who roared to make the Water Pets sink into the pool. Afterwards, they went on an underwater adventure.

The plot was as followed: It starts above a city named Harpsworld with land-dwelling sea creatures talking. Then the camera panned down to the Water Pets in a closed lemonade stand. Jumbo said a voice clip from the Yum Yums cartoon with a slight alteration like this: “Oh, me… Oh,my… Is the lemonade stand really that open?” Then Paige walked with water dripping everywhere and he said:”Nuh-uh-uh Jumbo, you have to wait 5 hours till it's open.”Then Lulu the blue cat walked with water dripping everywhere and declared:”5 HOURS? That's a very long time.”

Oh, and the land-dwelling yellow dolphin was named Dolly. The red dog was named Paige, the blue cat was Lulu, the yellow bear was named Jumbo, there was an orange lion named Roary, a green elephant named Spray, and a purple zebra with otter paws and tail named Stripes.

The cartoon appears to be lost, and I thought the cartoon started with an extended version of the song from the commercial. There was also a land-dwelling yellow dolphin.

Viewing from Michigan. Watching the deer is what i love to do where we are at but sometimes flushing a toilet can be funny too i guess!

I think there were lost Water Pet stories and there was a cartoon. The cartoon does exist, unlike what most people think.

The mirthworm specials are really underrated. They’re cute, they’re well animated and they have such a pleasant art style. The characters are really likable too. I know people hate using the word “cozy” to describe media but I think it’s the perfect word for these specials.

I watched water pets commercial when I was 4 years old when i was in preschool when the girls on it.
