Swansea Carers Centre is a specialist voluntary organisation providing support to carers and former carers across the City & County of Swansea. We support people who care for those with an illness or disability including learning disability, mental health problems, physical disability, dementia and other long term limiting illnesses.
Swansea Carers Centre aims to give much needed support and information to carers across Swansea by providing welfare benefit advice, access to grants and special funds, a counselling service, advocacy services, respite care, volunteering opportunities, carers’ mutual support groups, training, consultation opportunities and social events.
If you are a carer, Swansea Carers Centre may be able to help make things easier for you. We deliver a wide range of local support services to meet the needs of carers in our community. These range from support services centred around the carer’s needs as well as the person you care for.

Life as a Young Adult Carer Documentary
This Documentary tells the stories of three Young Adult Carers (YAC) in Swansea. The film was created with the support of MAD (Music Art Digital) and funded by Swansea Youth Bank. The YAC project from Swansea Carers Centre created this film to try and raise awareness of the issues that they face as 16-25 year olds in caring for family members and to highlight the importance of the support that they receive from the YAC project at Swansea Carers Centre.

This hit so close to home for me I stared to cry. I was born into the caregiving role, & it was a lot of stress, I cry a lot, I clench my teeth instead of grinding them, I have insomnia, & most days I'm depressed asking God to make them healthy or send me help with them in my prayers. After 30 years I'm more mentally & physically exhausted than I thought possible. Some days I don't sleep or sleep for only a few hours. I used to numb & shut off emotionally because I couldn't handle it anymore, then I started to complain & I couldn't stop. I feel so guilty when I complain or lose my patience with my two family members that I care for. What these people said hit close to home. Still I'd do it all again, & I'm blessed for everyday I get to spend with them. Sometimes holding other people's lives together will make you lose yours. That's the choice & sacrifice you make when you love someone. Unfortunately for me everything I've tried to do to get assistance has failed so all I have now is prayer & time.

I pray to our HEAVENLY FATHER to give you the strength to cope in these hard and difficult times, I pray to GOD to strengthen you and to guide you in ur life, I pray this in JESUS name. Amen.
