As I am always mesmerized by the sounds of nature , I was inspired by the singing of the crows at sunset on a snow tree. So, I composed this little poem in Quechua Spanish and English. I am so lucky. They often stop by my house at the sunset before going to bed at Still Creek.

Gigantic green frogs singing the low "A" in harmony with my Andean bass flutes. I went to play my big flutes at the lake and was in total surprised to see the frogs singing in the background on perfect key on my Am pentatonic song. First I thought that was a mama goose and the I see right in front of me a gigantic green frog inflating his chest and making a big sound. Later many frogs came to s...

Hi Rene, I’ve been blown away by the sound of your quena - it’s so unique and beautiful! Most quenas I’ve heard don’t have this kind of tone, and I’ve been searching for this exact sound. Could you share where you got it, or if you made it yourself? What makes it sound so special? Is it the material, the tuning, or something else? I would love to know so I can find or create a quena with the same tone. Thank you so much for your amazing music and for sharing your talent!
Hi; I am glad you like the sound of the bone quena. I got this one in Lima in the market of musical instruments of Plaza Dos De Mayo. Cheers!
Hello. I am singing Hanacpachap cussicuinin in a concert in London *this friday*. I want to pronounce the Quechua language properly. Is there any chance you could help, perhaps by recording a video of you saying the words, or another way if you can think of an easier method? I cannot find a proper pronounciation anywhere on the internet, everyone pronounces it as if it was a latin language and I really don't want to do that! The words are: Hanacpachap cussicuinin huaran cacta muchas caiqui Yu pai rurupucoc mallqui runa cunap suyacuinin call pan nacpa quemi cuinin Huaciascaita Uyarihui muchascaita Diospa rampan Diospa maman Yura tocto hamancaiman Yupas calla collpas caita Huahuar quiman suyuscaita Ricuchillai Thank you so much if you can help! Riqsikuyki!

Hello I love your Quechua videos. Would you ever want to do more? If you are open to suggestions I would love to hear a conversation between two speakers, annotated like you have done here. Maybe a conversation at full speed and one slowed down. Anyway thanks so much for all of these!
Hi Nicholas. Thanks for the suggestion. I will think about it. I have not published videos of Quechua for a little while. I will soon restart again. Cheers

Saludos
This guys jackets are great
This is almost reminiscent of Mapuche music that I've heard previously featuring a horn type instrument, although these are both obviously distinct from each other.
Yes. Musical expressions of South American ancient cultures are very similar.
These videos are great - I've been studying Peruvian music and I keep winding up here!
This is great! I read about the pot in Olsen's The Music of El Dorado and now I've heard it. Where did you get the pot?
So relaxing. Thank you.
You are welcome Jordan. Cheers
Sir, are you fluent in quechua language?
Yes. Quechua is my first language.

So, I'm here after falling down a history rabbithole in my quest to add some desperately needed multicultural flavor to Dungeons & Dragons. I've got a mapmaker the party is going to meet soon who is from a land strongly influenced by ancient Mesoamerican cultures and wanted to hear this language I was never even told about to understand how this new fantasy culture I'm working on sounds and now I'm more irritated than ever at just how flat and whitebread the modern fantasy genre is. Thank you for helping me add some much needed inclusiveness to my game and for teaching me the sound of a language I didn't even previously know existed.
You are welcome my friend! All the best in your project. I am happy this video helped you a little. Cheers!
Saludos

Hola don 👋 I have a small question about the Quechua language. This previous year, a franchise I enjoy recently came out with a Quechua character, and as a Guarani person it brought me so much joy seeing a character that represents people like me so closely, even if not exact. My question is about her name- Illari. I understand that Quechua tends to use the “LL” similar to that of the Spanish language (almost sounding like a “Y”), I've heard this in a few of your Quechua lesson videos! However, there are a few people claiming that her name can also be pronounced “ili-ari”, and that the LL in quechua can be said as “li” rather than”yi”. Is it true? And if so, is it dependent on the dialect, or the individual? The voice actress for the character says the “LL” in “Illari” as you do “Allillanchu” in this video, but other voice actors (who are not quechua or even latino, and who speak american english) say a very gringo-esque “iliari” (the LL being lost) Do you have a video touching on the LL pronunciation, and if there are different ways? If not, would you happen to have the time to teach it?
Hi; For the Quechua speakers the "ll" and "y" are so diferent. For example "llapan"" and "yapan". The first mean all - everything, the second means its additional amount. Also "waylía" and "waylla" Waylía is an Andean mestizo dance and waylla refers to the greenish and young quality of the plant of early Spring. Illary means sunrise, a secret terminology and it sounds totally different from iyary or iliary. If you say iyary, the quechua speacker will asume you are mispronouncing the word "listen" "uyary" And if you say Iliary they will think you are looking for some one cold Ilia or saying what about Ilia? . Thank you for traying to do it properly. You are inspiring me to do a video of the unique sounds of Quechua Language. For now I am not teaching on line. All the best!
@renehugo6454 Thank you so much for your response! I feel so grateful to have been able to speak with and learn from you. If you do ever end up making a video on the unique sounds of Quechua, I will 100% be watching and studying it, but in the meantime, I will do everything I can to learn with the resources currently available 🙏 I feel very lucky to have been able to receive such a concise and informative response from someone who knows the language first-hand.
Hi Rene! I am a student in Vancouver who is pretty interested in Quecha Maybe we can meet up for Coffee sometime? I'd love to learn more about your language&culture
Hi Ivan; Will be a pleasure to give you a hand. Go to my web site Rene Hugo.com and there is my contact there. Cheers

Yes. I teach in Vancouver. I am thinking about teaching online.
Hello professor ! Did you see the words ? What is your opinion ? . I promise I will not publish the video anywhere again.
Hi! Yes. It is truly amazing. Cheers
