This simple model of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation is familiar to many, yet students will enjoy watching the process in real-time. You can use it for reviewing the water cycle, or introducing the process. You could also use it as an assessment by having students write what they see and explain what is happening.

This transpiration lab is easy to set up and allows students to see and collect water generated by plants during the process of transpiration. This plate tectonic model is an excellent demonstration for the classroom. Students can "view" convection currents caused by unequal heating of the mantle (oil) and watch the "plates" move! Models in science are necessary because many natural processes like plate motion are very slow and on a large scale, so this can help students understand the conditions and the process on a basic level.
