      Sensitivity to history is so important to an architect. Ufortunately it is not fostered enough at the educational institutions. So good that some take it up - despite the institutions, like Pablo😊

    This is the most succinct statement on modern society I've ever seen. Modernism destroyed all the gains of technology in architecture, and all the other areas of life: art, music, fashion, morals, education, food, health, etc. No one wants it, but we're stuck with it until someone like Trump comes along and just undoes it. His mistake was that he did not do to big pharma what he did to big architecture. etc.

    'Veni, Vidi, Vici', I guess. - Vignola, ... - Palladio, who skip the easier proportions for Gibbs to fill in later. - Serlio, who humble himself and propose something else we can't ignore. I guess I don't know enough to realize what Vignola influenced the most. 😁

    • @ApexAlphaFoxtrot
      @ApexAlphaFoxtrot 2 месяца назад

      I did skim through some of the treatises and find the journey of each country pretty interesting. For example, British, by adopting Palladio, Isaac Ware translated Palladio's version to english. He also kindly included Inigo Jones' designs in his 1756 book, a Complete Body. Later on, Sir William Chambers had concluded British version in his treatise, 1862 (1000+ pages). I am not interested enough to look into French takes on the treatises. But, I found how the American Vignola flourished in another continent might be pretty useful. If these treatises are the core of Classical architecture, I think it would be interesting to see your in-depth knowledge apply to this core and see it flourishes, too. Best regards, Your student, 30 😁

    The mental health aspect is sooo important. I suffer from anxiety and bad, ugly environments make it faaaar worse. And of course obesity gets worse when people are depressed/everything is grey and there is no nature or green parks to go and take a walk!

      My point was that if you create cohesive urbanism walking become a natural mode of transport, not an activity. And this in general is good for physical and mental health. Regarding architecture yes classical architecture is calming for the soul!
