"You Came Back" -- Adult Man Thanks Adult Friend For Hamilton Ticket
Просмотров 6566 лет назад
On May 11th, 2018, my friend Sam gave me a ticket to Hamilton. This is perhaps the nicest event that one friend can treat another friend to. The only way I could think to thank him was with a song.
Cricket for Americans

Eli Robinson, in a Metric Collective WESATOM, teaches the rules, strategies, and oddities of cricket
I'm in Australia and I am watching this. It is really excellent. The best quote about cricket is made by a dying school teacher in a movie sitting in his wheel chair when the Head Master comes up to him and they have a brief conversation which ends with the elderly teacher saying - "Cricket is such a magnificently boring game." And at this point, he dies. Mike in Oz
Cricket popularity: Division 1: India, pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Afghanistan,Nepal Divison 2: Australia, Newzealand Division 3: Namibia,Zimbabwe,Southafrica,Botswana Division 4: Anitgua Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana,Trinidad Tabbaco,Saint Lucia etc all carribean islands. Division 5: England ,scarely popular in ireland snd Netherlands.
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Afghanistan cricket is like a religion over there.
When he said a posh British dude explained him to him, I instantly understood why spin bowling is said as a bad thing. English can't play spin in 50 years
2:57 The One Day or 50 over ball is white as one day games are often played day/night, the players need to be able to see the ball under lights. The sight screens are then changed to black also. With the red ball, only day games are played and the sight screens are white, so the players can see that ball. 40:22 A no-ball is not a ball and the bowler must bowl again, and one run is added to the batting teams score as a penalty. These no-balls, and also leg-byes and overthrows appear as extras on the score sheet. Extras are sometimes one of the biggest scorers on a team.
Don Bradman was the first cricket 🏏 play to get a 336 runs in cricket 🏏
Everyone on their Phone/Laptop......Such a Shame!!!!
Ashes!
While i really liked your explanation. I really was offended at calling spin bowling sneaky . Well spin bowlers need to be intelligent, its an art. In fact one of the most legendary spin bowler is an Australian. The subcontinent produces more spin bowlers due to the surface its played being more grippy very indusive for spin
I remember watching this many years ago, decided to see if I could find it again and glad I did. Very well put together lecture that makes the hour fly by.
Good job. But nuances of the game still remains.
An American explaining cricket to other Americans and gets ‘who is Aroldis Chapman?‘ Nearly spilled my drink, and I’’m a Brit😂
Cricket balls were traditionally red. When evening play beneath floodlights began, they started using white balls for clarity. In general, white balls are used when part of a match might occur under floodlights.

Afghanistan 🇦🇫 India 🇮🇳 ❤🎉
Dont worry the sneaky Indians are already throwing fast balls and also on the way to host Olympics soon
Not bad, a few minor inaccuracies but overall pretty damn good. It's a hard game to explain to anyone let alone people that have never seen it or heard of it before. Test cricket in particular has so many subtle nuances and strategies, it's like a chess game in some ways. Greatest sport in the world, in my opinion at least.
You yourself need a good cricket class bro
Half knowledge is very dangerous. Red and white balls are not symbollic. They weigh different , they have different magnitude of swing . And as test match the jersey is white so red ball is used.
Great video! Very interesting!
A couple of updates: in 2021 a new super-short format (the Hundred) was launched in the UK with each side facing one innings of one hundred balls. To make this work overs have been cut from 6 to 5 balls.. A sort of world championship has also been introduced for test cricket. Every two years the two top-ranked teams play a one-off test match against each other to determine a new world champion. New Zealand win the first and Australia just beat India to become the second world champion team.
Cricket is played on an OVAL field, not an OBLONG one. How about another video: "Explanation of Geometric Shapes for Americans"?
excellent presentation.
LBW, btw, doesnt just mean your leg. it can hit you in the head and you be given out LBW. A runout is determined by the person running to the end that the wicket is broken at. So if the batsmen run and "cross" (meaning they run past each other) its the batsmen running from the other end thats out. if the batsmen start to run and stop to go back, its the batsman closest. Quite often in this situation you can end up with both batsment at the same end...and one of them will elect to step out and take the "out". If BOTH decide to stay in their crease (the safe zone), then the batsman that LEFT the unmanned end (ie, the one that ran to the other end), is out. By the way, one of the "other" ways of getting out on your list is "retired". A batsman that retires is not, actually, out. They can rejoin the innings later a commence batting again, though this doesnt happen except in the most dire circumstances, because they have usually retired "hurt" after being hit by the ball or something
Outs are a rare thing in cricket unless it's an England batting collapse.
Circket is complex and absorbing which is difficult to play well. People only say it`s boring if they know nothing about it. Apart from the techniques of batting and bowling, there is the psychological side, time-pressure and the weather. There are 32 separate fielding positions and it is part of the captain`s job to set them. The it is the job of the bowler to trick the batter into making a mistake and to try and limit the sort of stroke batters can use in the attemot to score runs. With 11 players in a side, there is one bowlewr and one wicket-keeper so there are only 9 fielders to cover a large area of ground. Well done.Good explanation. It is also quite dangerous, being hit in the face on the hands or arms can lead to broken fingers or bones. ONe reason for Bradman`s success is that he almost never hit the ball in the air. He taught himself with one stump and a tennis ball on the back wall of his family house.
Ireland and Afghanistan were granted Test Cricket status on 22 June 2017, making them the 11th and 12th Test Cricket sides.
Cricket is not that hard to understand. People just make it seem complex
@1.02 should have said "circular" or :"an Oval"
41:00 is wrong, the batters change sides not the bowlers
mate have ever watched or participated in an actual cricket match.
@@epsity5124 yeah, im Indian and I play everyday
@@legionstake The person in the video is talking about how the fielding side changes ends after every over which is true.
@@epsity5124 Okay, wtf, I just checked and IM SHOCKED. how did I not know that. 👍🏻😇
@@legionstake Np mate, every day we all learn something new. Cheers
He should also mentioned test cricket, 20/20. one day that could have been nice.
Wtf when does the bowling side change 41.22
Don't worry fellow Americans some points that seems weird are incorrect but respect this man because 97% is absolutely correct
This guy (teaching) is very racist...
To know about the rules of cricket you have to practically play it on the ground
There are cricket leagues in the USA and Canada. Its played in China and the Netherlands as well.
1:01:00 Re: Don Bradman played in an era when it was just a few nations had teams. He was playing against weaker opposition
Not really. He played over 70% of his matches against England who were by far the strongest opposition available at the time. He had very little opportunity for stat-padding with most of his matches being against bowlers like Harold Larwood, Bill Voce, Hedley Verity, Maurice Tate, Gubby Allen, Jim Laker, Alec Bedser etc. Not exactly a bunch of dobbers. Not to mention the fact that he played on uncovered pitches with huge boundaries, a little twig for a bat and no helmet. The fact that no one else has got anywhere near The Don in 75 years despite the game becoming much more batter-friendly shows just how special he was.
I'm no blaming you for your awkward explanation and naivete about the game of cricket , after all you are American
I learned Cricket in less then an hour. The rules were pretty straight forward and easy to learn. The finer points of bowling take some practice but , if you can't learn the game in one afternoon and start having fun...go play basketball.
13:10 u r fucking wrong
Think you missed rugby with 2 billion followers
Fabulous presentation of such a difficult game. Of course being an Indian we grow up with this and hence becomes way easier.
He's wrong about there being no trophies in test cricket; look up The Ashes
American geometry; oblong = oval Everywhere else; oblong = rectangle that isn't square
Panic attack when they realised baseball isn't there 👀
Nice
Great video. For an American for who cricket is an alien game, you definitely did some hard homework. Covered almost all parts of the game. Yes, you did have some mistakes but that's ok. But one thing you could have added to the presentation was to tell about Sachin Tendulkar, arguably the best batter cricket have ever seen, technically and even by many recorded greater than Sir Bradman. And he is called as The God of Cricket.
I love cricket Cricket is my life line
A lot of this info is a bit out of date. They aren't rules. they're laws.
pakistan and aus have most pacer in cricket
