Welcome to my channel! This channel will primarily feature different rides that I plan to share on MotorcycleRoads.com Occasionally, I may post things more random, but don't expect this channel to be about politics, or anything of that nature. It's all about the ride.
The music showcased will always include a purchase link. These artists all work hard, and please support them. If you're in a band, and you wish to have your music showcased in a video, please contact me. Maybe we can work something out.
I'm also always happy to take on sponsors! If you support my riding, I'll be happy to shill for you.

Reality Check: Current State of Affairs
Great review! I’m curious if this helmet has channels for glasses? I’m looking at picking one up this week. 👍🏼
It does not.
Nice vid! Did you have issues with bottoming out the suspension? Also if you don't me ind, how much do you weigh? I'm 215 at 5'10 and I'm a little worried about bottoming out the suspension.
@123smartcontent No, BUT... I'm not hitting motocross tracks or straight dropoffs. I mostly adv with it, and have years of MX experience that taught me to seek the smooth jumping lines. The small logs are soaked just fine by leaning back and lifting the front wheel. If I were to start going hardcore with it, I wouldn't get a dual sport. Even so, upgraded suspension is always a good option on many bikes if you have the money. I would happily upgrade the suspension on both my Versys and this if I could afford it. For reference, I am 235 lbs.
Can you do ender in exile?
Thanks. I love the Enderverse a lot. The big problem would be time. This one was something I squeaked in for my kids and nieces. With the Wheel Trouble music stuff taking off, time to do audiobooks would take a fiscal commitment that I don't personally have the resources for at the moment. (Mastering is expensive) If enough people hit the Ko-Fi tip jar, I may be able to get it done.
Thanks for the reply. I'm in the UK and can't access the audio books for a lot of the ender verse. Thanks for recording this.
"domestic supervisor" 😂
Being that alcohol leaves no residue....you can use alcohol.
I just ordered a set for my 2000 YZF R6, hope they're as good as everyone says.
I was shocked on the first ride of the one I just put on the front of my Honda. Sitting on the bike stopped and trying to turn the bars felt like the tire was stuck to the pavement. My old tire must have been in worse shape than I thought. The steering and handling is so much better than before. It's the 3rd front tire on a VFR750 @ 20k miles.
what speakers are you using with yours ?
I've been using the Lexin B4-FM that I've had since I did the product review for those. They've been darn near bombproof.
S stands for standard!!
I wouldn't disagree with anything said in this review. The only thing that I would point out is that just about any 80/20 tire I've come across doesn't do well in the mud. If you're going to be encountering mud on any sort of regular basis your probably better just going with a 50/50. That said mine have done great on gravel roads and hard packed two tracks. **Follow Up** So I have a '23 Versys X and after watching this video I looked at mine and it looks like IRC made an update at some point because mine has wear indicators down the middle and at 45ish degrees on both front and rear tires.
I follow you right now❤
Hello my friend
oh lawd
Thanks for the review! Just one thing about air cooled bikes. I'm 62. ALL bikes were air cooled when I started riding...well into the 80's. I put 10's of thousands of miles on them. Heat is not a deal unless you are in a real hot climate. I had bikes from a Z50 to KZ1000's and never had heat issues in the Summer in Washington state. Yes, it does get warm sitting on pavement in the city, but water-cooled bikes do as well. I'm sure it is a non-issue for this little bike. Just sayin'
These and many other small displacement air cooled dual sport bikes are ridden in Southeast Asia where it is HOT year round.
I appreciate the effort in this review. Seems like a good tire.
S=street
I was looking into getting the regular 230. Think it will be good for me at 6’5 230lbs?
We weigh about the same. The bike will pull you just fine. The regular will definitely be a better fit for you as well. If you're looking for a fun trail bike, it would do just fine.
Domestic supervisor😂 💀
appreciate the insights here! thank you for the video :)
🤣🤣reading their ad?
I’m 6 3 would I be too tall??
If you get the regular sized KLX230, you should be fine. The S model was shortened for smaller riders. At 6'3", I would avoid the S variant.
It has been a year since, how this helmet doing? I do most on road in a hot and rainy tropical island.
I'm still rocking this skid lid. It's behaving quite well with no real issues. It breathes well, too well for winter. We get 110s here in August, and the helmet is still comfortable at those speeds, without feeling like a sauna.
Is it true it squirts a lot? How about noice in on road?
Delivery today battle grey 230klx.
Bike delivery was delayed because of bad weather. Hopefully today. Just completed my motorcycle e course training and have my certificate for the two day road obstacles course training. May 6-7 . 8hrs. First day, 5hrs. next day. Then finally I will receive my M Class license!
Good choice. Picked the same one, non s...
Great video, if you don’t mind me asking What size are you i am also short at 5’3” and currently looking into getting a 230S Are you comfortable with the size?
Yes. I am "just" comfortable with it. The seat is narrow enough that a small scoot to the side at lights is all I need. At 5'3", you may consider lowering links, but my kid rides it and he is 5 ft on the nose. The install on the lowering links wouldn't be too hard.
I am 5 foot three and I do great with it. However, I have long legs for a short guy 30 inch inseam but I do really good with no problems at all. Maybe this will help you good luck.
@@wheeltrouble Do you know your kid's inseam? I'm 5'2" but have a short inseam at 26" to my ankle (29" to the ground). Do you think I'd be okay?
@baileyjb88 yeah. I think Eco's about 26-28 inseam right now. Cycle-ergo will help you out a little with what you can expect.
Cool video
Good review. My sportmax tires on my cbr600 slide alot on the front while corning. I had had super corsas all my life and these just scare me
When you admit you're a manlet by saying the world is manlets. I'm glad you found something Wheel. You manlet.
Gimme a sec. Imma go grab my slingshot. 😉
even if the game doesn't become an absolute classic, im sure others have taken notes, i wouldn't be surprised to see the player recorded movement mechanic in other games
I hate the words "in todays day." With that said, IN TODAY'S DAY--THE AGE OF BALANCING YOUR TIRES AT HOME IS A LIABILITY AND CANNOT BE BETTER THAN A MACHINE--UNLESS THE PERSON DOING THE BALANCING IS SLOPPY. iT IS NOT LAZY TO MACHINE BALANCE YOUR TIRES.
Would you recommend this tire for a cbr 600rr?
It's a great tire, but I took the "300" part of the Sportmax name to indicate the target cc class. It would work, but would probably wear quickly.
thanks for the guidance, just installed it onto my versys. Makes bike look more complete. Merry Christmas!
I'm doing mine this week, Merry Christmas 🎄

Great review! Keep them coming!

Pay me! Actually, I do have a few more vids coming up. I got a care package of moto gear, and I'm probably going to include clips of me destroying my kid's motorcycle.
I think I would mostly agree with you. My Kawasaki Z 900 RS café came with these tires from the factory. I currently have 2900 miles and I’m definitely seeing tire where although more so on the front tire than I expected. I think I could probably push them to 5000 miles. I’m probably gonna go with the Michelin Road five because I do want the longevity along with the performance. Obviously you’re going to pay a lot more for the Michelin but I would love to get 10,000+ miles out of a tire. I generally ride between 3 to 5 tenth meaning I don’t push myself or my motorcycle hard so I should be able to get some pretty decent mileage out of a decent set of tires
My test was on a CBR250R, and only managed around 6k-7k miles until wear bar levels (totally used tire). There's no doubt a 900cc bike would chew through these tires like a kid at Halloween candy bowl. For what it's worth, as a street tire, I still am fond of the Sportmax, but my VX is running a mismatched TKC70 front and. TrailMax Mission rear. I'm not trying to drag knee on it, so a sticky tire isn't as big an issue. Definitely get the tire that best suits your riding style. Having said that, not having a sticky enough tire can bite you, and you won't find out until your bike hit's that magical angle.
will it fit a 2021 versys x300?
It should. The Versys has been largely unchanged since launch. Even so, check T-Rex's page for exact details.
@@wheeltrouble thanks dude..
I almost bought cardos until I came across these and looked into the reviews.
Hello Its Kevin Drew from Stinger Trailer. Please call me whenever is convenient for you.
Solid review bud. Hard to find info on this helmet. So is it safe to say that coms fit? Cutouts in the eps?
No cutouts in the eps, but comms fit just fine.
@@wheeltrouble thanks for the response.
Put them on and walk with them, you are reviewing boots after all dumb ass fuck.
I can’t get the sticker off of the back :(
Brooo I can’t even take off the 3M sticker im struggling rn
Hello! How are these behaving in terms of ankle support after some years? Thank you.
Like new. I've even started running trails on my kid's pit bike with them. So far, I have only managed to scuff the leather. They're holding up wonderfully all around.
@@wheeltrouble Perfect, thanks!! Will try to get a pair as soon as possible. Cheers
T-Rex Racing has the Heavy Duty skid plate and it is the best one on the market. It doesn't use the original little brackets that holds the plastic lower cowls below the engine. These brackets are attached to the screws/ ears on the fragile aluminum oil pan. The oil pan was never designed to take the punishment from any serious off road action. I have several videos on the T-Rex Heavy Duty skip plate beefing even that unit up with a 5th brace to address the fore/aft lack of support and this week uploaded a new video showing my bike up in the air on a motorcycle jack with the T-Rex Heavy Duty skid plate. I've uploaded many X300 upgrade and modification videos on my channel. Thanks for sharing.
I've seen the new HD ones, and you're right. They do look much better. I was an early adopter to the Versys. At the time, it was this or the Ricochet, and that was it. If I decide to take this bike through more single-track, you can count on the TRex heavy to be top on my list.
Good points - I have experience one of the gripes. My bike was purchased from my local dealer and I had to buy everything as I had no gear or accessories to begin with. I spent thousands on the new bike and again thousands on all kinds of gear/apparel/parts. This year inventory has been so low that my dealer didn't have a set of adventure tires for my bike. I checked for month - nothing. So I went out on the internet and found the 2 tires I needed and it took weeks and two separate purchases. So I go to my local dealer and was told I had to buy the tires from them at full retail or these will not install them. So there I was - the dealer couldn't sell me tires and they could not get them and I had tires that I wanted on the bike and was shut down. I stated my case that I was not happy with their policy especially now with the dealer could get tires and that was over months of me asking. So I think the dealer just screwed them selves. I get a free tee shirt for every $150 I spend in the store and I have a stack of them and being left out in the cold by the service dept. sucks.
Ouch! I would definitely shop around for a new service shop. Having said that, there is a real reason many shops will not install parts they didnt order for you. It comes down to work warranty. In my opinion, it is a very mistaken way to deal with perceived liability. Every shop I have worked in just gets around that liability with a waiver. In other words, a good service shop will just have you sign a disclaimer that they do not warrant 3rd party purchases to be free from defect. Good luck with whichever service shop you go with. On the plus side, it sounds like you have plenty of shop rags from the other store.
do I have to wait 48 hours before putting the bay station on? and does it matter where on the wall I put it?
Technical answer is that the adhesive takes that long to cure. Actual answer? It's a sticker. It's relatively immediate. Use your own discretion.
How did you find the width? I just ordered a pair of these. I have a wider foot and find most ADV boots are really narrow.
They fit my foot well, but I have a fairly standard foot. They seem wider than the smx1 did, if that helps. Sorry I can't be of more help on this. If possible, try a pair at a dealership. I realize that was hard pre-beer bug, nearly impossible now.
@@wheeltrouble Hey thanks for the quick answer. Trouble with dealerships if they never have what your looking for and if they do, not your size. These actually look ok to me and have watched many reviews on them. Guess I'll know in a week. Thanks again.
I just did a 2-week 3,200km trip around western Canada this September (would say 80% unpaved - forestry, logging and gravel roads ). My rear stock tire on Versys 300 is ready for replacement now at 14,000km (8,750miles) but the front one is still good. I took this bike through some very rough terrain quite a few times and the tires have never been an issue. On the contrary, it appeared to me that on gravel roads they were much more stable than TKC 80 on my other bike 2008 KLR. Clearly, they are not designed for mud or ice but if you're crazy enough like me both is possible :-)!
Well said. Premium companies needto not be pricing out themselves.
