Thanks this was very helpful
I build a similar one with my daughter, except we had a buzzer instead of the light and we set it up in her room as a test to catch a thief.
How did you wire it
Been trying to figure this out for years on years now I finally found out thank you
The microbit only supplies 3v, but the sensors you provided in the link operate between 4v and 20v. Is this going to be a problem?
It worked for me with 3v without any issue
I was under the impression that one should always use a resistor in series with the LED so that it wouldn't draw more current than the micor:bit could supply, damaging the pin it was connected to. Do you know whether this is unneccessary?
Thanks Pauric. This was really most helpful. I was trying to code a "Bird Alarm' for glass bead Artists and this did the trick.
it workedd for me thank you very much

Do you know how to add bookmarks?
Thank you for this short and sweet tutorial. You got straight to the point.
This is excellent a great help to me never mind the lads doing ALT 4
Great video, well explained, I never thought to look at magnetism but I'll use it now sometime
how did u use it?
@@ollieroberts411 haven't yet, but I will, probably with next year's LC Tech
Hi there Pauric, I really enjoyed your video. I found this video after watching the video about St.Eunan's secondary school. My son's school sent me the link to your channel. You mention working in a classroom ...so are you a teacher at St Eunan's? My son loves this sort of content and Im smiling thinking if you are a teacher at the school these videos will be very encouraging for him. Nice to virtually meet you here btw. Helen
Thanks Helen for your feedback! Yes I am part of the Computing Department in Saint Eunan's and we primarily teach Computer Science from Transition Year to Leaving Cert (We were a pilot school for the Leaving Certificate course) including plenty of Microbit and Python programming. Our junior courses however are primarily focused on essential computing skills with some lighter programming. Hope that helps! POD
@@pauricodonnell9906 thanks so much I really appreciate you getting back to me.
it didn't really work for me. Good job!
Hi, thanks for these videos. I am just wondering if you could explain how I could radio this set of traffic lights to another microbit so that they are mirrored on the second microbit? Thanks
If you set both Microbits with the same radio group (you'll find codeblock under the Radio menu) and then simply add a "Radio send..." block each time you activate an LED - so when you turn on the Red LED, radio send string RED or send a number to represent the different colours. On the receiving Microbit use the "on radio received..." blocks to decide what to do with the received info "RED" etc. Does that make any sense? Sorry for rambling explanation!
@@pauricodonnell9906 Thanks so much. I will give this a go in the morning.
Excellent video Pauric. Are the sensor board sensors more responsive than the built in light and temp ones?
I don't have the data comparisons but from using them the dedicated sensor board is miles ahead of the built in Microbit sensors and allow for a greater accuracy. Hope that helps!
@@pauricodonnell9906 great thanks
Super video thank you
Thanks
