Fragrance reviews for the Connoisseurs of the finest fragrances.
Fragrance Addiction. Do you have it, and how to deal with it. (including my story)
Today I brave the topic of addiction, namely fragrance addition and how to cope or deal with it.
Fragrance addiction. Do you believe you have it? Do you actually have it? If so, how can we tackle this problem?
I tell my personal tale of "addiction". How it began, how I recognised it, and ultimately, how I keep a close eye on it.
I hope this video finds anyone who is struggling with addiction or is concerned they may be succumbing to addiction. I hope this video resonates with anyone who is battling addiction and reassures them that there is light at the end of what seems a very long dark tunnel.

THE JOURNEY STARTS HERE - An Introduction to Higher Scents with Haz
This is the most adult, well thought out and best explained discussion on this topic I have seen. Life is all about moderation. I know people who spend 20 hours of a 24 hour day on TikTok. They buy a wide range of things that are shown on that app. Yet they look at my collection and say, "You have a problem!" I have other friends that drink 3 times the amount I spend (on fragrances) monthly, but again, I'm an addict. I learned a long time ago, live your life, and manage said life. I personally think the "Addict topic" is yet just another click focused topic. Not saying there aren't people addicted to fragrances, collectibles, sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I just think this is the new hot topic and sadly new experts are appearing to "help" solve said problem. Who knows 🤷🏽♂️? I am definitely locked in to your channel now. Look forward to your next installment. Cheers! 🎉🎉🎉 🙂
@raucusretread pleased to have you on board Sir and thank you for your very kind words. I'm pleased the video found you and has been well received.
First video I've seen from your channel. Lovely presentation and excellent choices. You have a new sub! Look forward to seeing more from you in 2025! Cheers! 🎉🎉🎉😊

Reminds me of zaharof black rose
@parvan89 I have that one as well and yes they are similar. Zaharoff is a bit darker imo.
LMFAOO y she start laughing at bro 😂
@oudscuo was so strong it made her eyes water and from wlhow I was describing it, she was clearly getting something different ie. A strong unpleasant smell! Haha
Really enjoyed this. I thought I was becoming addicted but I've realised it's just a hobby after watching this. I love wearing fragrances that the majority of people have no idea about.
@DazSplash great to read this! I hope it has helped broader the horizons and I'm glad you see things in a better light mate.
Excellent video mate. Ive been thinking of adressing my own issues but yet i dont find it to be a problem even though i know it costs a lot of money
@TheFragLad cheers bro. We all have our problems but the key is recognition and devising a plan to address it so like you say, it doesn't become a problem. If you enjoy it and it isn't a problem to yourself or others then ENJOY IT.
@@HigherScentsmy fragrance hobby is and always has been vital to my mental health. They help me relax/meditate. I think the channel has also helped me focus the hobby into another direction.
@TheFragLad 100% mate. Same as me. Use it for positivity.
Great video mate 🙏
@@Charlie-Butcher appreciate it.
It's a difficult one. I had 900+ plus fragrances before Christmas, all from different price brackets. I was holding off buying more as I didn't want to hit 1000, then one of my many daughters said to me that she thought I had to hit 1000 as I was thinking about it too much. 'Thoughts' are very much at the forefront of my career - they say therapists need more therapy than almost anyone else! Anyway. This month I went on a spending spree - I have the money, that's not an issue. I now have 1007. The idea was to then reduce the collection, with the help of my daughters. We haven't finished a bottle yet - they also have their own - ranging from 26 at the lowest up to over 200 at the most - my fault maybe. It almost scares me to use fragrance up. I have plenty of my own issues, but money isn't one. I have neglected other things such as the gym, but never work, my daughters (or their uni fees!) or other relationships. Sleep, most definitely. I can be looking at online, and testing fragrances at home when i'm supposed to be in bed. I've given up on my other hobbies. Make of that what you will. I am somebody that can do anything for a loved one, a client, someone in need, but my own issues I cannot. I will reduce the collection. I'm aiming to cull most things - i'm 50 next year and the girls won't want most of my things when i'm gone. Fragrances they share a passion with, and it's partially because of that that I have so many, because it's a common interest that bonds us even more, even though they live at home and we have so many other things to discuss and enjoy. Often, we'll wear a fragrance and when we've sat around testing a new one, it goes into the cupboard (i'm not as organised as you, mine just get dumped in draws, etc) not to see the light of day for a good while. I think they are just as scared, but just because they fear how I might feel if a bottle gets finished! I know it's something I must do. It's an interesting topic. Thank you for raising it.
@dayvidgee8767 wow what an insight! That's exactly the responses I was after and I'm sure other viewers as well as myself will enjoy reading your story and relating to it. The great thing is you recognise the issues and you have devised a plan to deal with it. You're not in denial and sound like a very intelligent genuine kind family person which is great. You've embraced your interest and managed to integrate it into your life with your daughters which will have created a bond and memories im sure. You haven't let it degenerate into a major problem and for that I commend you. Keep up the good work and little by little you'll get to where you're more comfortable and a touch happier. I thank you for your time and reply. ❤️
@HigherScents I'm also not allowed to replace a favourite until I hit 998, as I'm not allowed to hit 1000 again. I will but fragrances, but only to replace real favourites when the time comes. I'm envisaging a small but quality collection in the future.
@dayvidgee8767 I like your plan mate. Best of luck!
Good video! I like to layer that Jean Lowe with the Lattafa Honor and Glory sometimes.
@franknitti100 I appreciate that my friend. That sounds like a solid layering combo. Dont do much myself but it's an idea for a future video maybe!
I have pure havanne and pure malt. Those are my favorites. Maybe I will try naxos later 👍
@Pal-us9uv both excellent frags. I will have an upcoming Mugler A men line review including those 2! Naxos is an upgrade on malt so if you love malt... try Naxos!
Lauder ruined it.
@peterlangendorff9846 like everything else they touch, hunt down an older one which still has the magic.
What the fuck
Would be good if you did small tester packs of the colgnes in your video and let patreons/subscribes buy them from you
@yagayeetoffyafeet great idea! I'll mention it in future videos and if people would like a tester I can post them out for cost price if that helps viewers. Thank you for you feedback.
Check out my channel guys. Subscribe and enjoy the content! Plenty to come this year.
Was this just a way to flex the LV or ? 😅
@@yagayeetoffyafeet no i just match the frag name in with the topic mate. No flex.
Check out my other shorts and you'll catch my drift 😂
@HigherScents OK yeah I see what you mean now pal 😂 how do you rate the Cologne tho and have you tried any of the other LVs?
@yagayeetoffyafeet I think it's pretty good but doesn't last long. 4 hours maybe. Imagination is my favourite followed by Pacific chill. Ombre nomad probably in 3rd which is worth the hype imo.
@HigherScents Pacific chill is the one I were going to get. Instead, I went with creed original santal and original vetiver, I find the same thing with the creed, the projection only lasts upto 4 hours. Possible we are just going nose blind or have you had confirmation from others ? I read that uk weather ( being cold ) is main reason cologne doesn't last as long. Would you say the imagination and Pacific last longer ?
You got a follow from me for this one 🤣
@alejandroruiz442 welcome aboard and ENJOY!
Gotta love a bit of “dirty fruit” in a fragrance 😂

Extrait? This one isn't even on Mizensir's website....
@TheMontegonian extrait and exclusive perhaps!
Nice video, please add the name of the perfume in one of the corners it will make it easier for us to look them up
All links in description for you mate but yes that's a good suggestion. Thanks
Need more clone wars like this video
@jeffmurnahan I agree. Its certainly an area that needs more scrutiny with advances in technology. Clearly the gap is closing... FAST!
Agreed....I'll shoot the sub if I start seeing more of those.
this proves one thing of my theory, Alexandria Fragrances are not worth it, over hyped, cant even impress blind test
@waqaskundi it may just depend on the scent. I can *clearly* smell a quality difference on Visionary (Imagination clone) from them.
thank you for your honest opinion ! good review 🙂
@bartvanleene6202 always honest on this channel. Giving the best information I can to help viewers.
A very special and enjoyable video. Have you ever tried one of the Meleg perfumes from the Canadian house of the wonderful perfumer Matthew Meleg?
@safamreeh5785 I haven't mate, that's a new one to me so I'll try and source one in the UK if possible. Thanks for the recommendation, please you enjoyed the video.
ur best video till now, nothing new for me, but will help others, word maturation maceration doesnt matter, yes its maturation correct way 2 say, but main info is get oxygen in
Appreciate it mate, thought it would help here and there.
Its worth the money, the niche I got, i gotta say not all is worth the price

Holy shit 😂😂😂😂😂
@@TheFragLad 🤣🤣🤣
Very interesting. I know the average person normally wouldn't be able to tell a difference. The video I'm currently editing is about pdm althair verse the clone liquid brun. Now I'm more interested in that sceptre malachite to see how close it is compared to the mango bliss which I compared to God of Fire. Clones are definitely doing their thing these days. Keep em coming brother.
Let me know what you think mate. I agree clones deffo have thier place. Improved massively the last few years.
PDM isn't expensive enough to warrant buying clones of it. Besides, I'd rather have 10mL decants of every PDM scent than 1 full bottle of any one PDM frag (which is exactly what I have.)
@RationallySkeptical just do what I did and buy a bottle of every pdm fragrance that you like. I've found that I barely use decants. I buy them to test them out then I either buy the bottle based off the experience and rinse the decant or I'm not keen enough to buy it and therefore not keen enough to wear the decant
@TheFragLad yeah I typically do a decent amount of blind buys and end up taking the travel sizes i get from my subscription service to vacation with me. If I'm on the fence about something though I might buy a 5 to 10 ml to see if I'm feeling it. I got 5 ml of side effect and black phantom and I was not a huge fan. I might have to give them another chance but when I got them in I was glad I didn't buy the full bottle. Definitely need to get more of the pdms for sure.
@TheFragLad I don't mind a blind buy if it's a good enough deal but only because of experience of notes. Kind of exciting! But yes a 2ml decant is a great way to save money on a potentially unsuccessful blind buy. Then like Frag lad says, if you like it then buy the full bottle with peace of mind.
BTW coffee doesn't work anywhere near as good as smelling clean skin
@TheFragLad well i can only do that when I shower once a week mate! I find Kenco is top notch like 🤣
What's your evidence for this assertion? That's just sounds like your subjective opinion.
@RationallySkeptical the coffee thing was debunked ages ago and at least a handful of perfumers that refuted it all said about smelling clean skin or fresh air. The logic behind the clean skin refreshing you olfactive perception is that you are zeroing it back to factory settings so to speak because your own natural smell is almost impossible to detect because your senses are shut off to it from years of over exposure.
It works for me. Maybe it's more of a psychological distraction if nothing else but for me, coffee is so strong it kind of enables me to pick up on other scents easier than if I did not overload my senses with the coffee smell. I'm no scientist but it's what I've heard and it works for me.
@HigherScents more than likely placebo effect mate. If you just do a quick search you'll see it was disproven
That mic and the stand 😂😂😂😂😂
@@TheFragLad sponsored by Lovehoney dont ya know! 🤣
Spacecraft Air Freshener
Thank you for your honest opinion
@argosfragrances I appreciate that Sir. I try to be as honest and fair with all reviews as I can be. Very good fragrance but didn't quite work in my skin but heard it does on others so that's a "me" problem! I look forward to more releases from your house as so far, I've been very impressed with what I have tried.
Come on… If you create a questions, answers and facts video, please make it factual. More than five concentrations. Eau Fraîche Contains 1-3% perfume oils, and Attars Contains almost entirely perfume compounds and no alcohol. To name a couple. Another issue: Maceration doesn’t happen after the fragrance has been bottled. This is done at the factory. In fragrance making, "maceration" refers to the initial process of soaking fragrance oils in alcohol to thoroughly blend and extract their aromatic components, while "maturation" is the longer-term ageing process where the fragrance evolves and develops its full complexity over time, often after the initial maceration stage is complete; essentially, maceration is a specific step in the blending process, while maturation encompasses the overall ageing of the fragrance in the bottle after contact with oxygen. I can’t finish watching the video after the maceration part! Again, you have as much charisma as the rotting innards of unidentified roadkill.
@PeteFisher-f9f thank you for the partial view. I look forward to seeing your reviews where I'll be watching lying flat on the tarmac. It's a somewhat simplified answers video. Probably why you can relate to it so well. Ps. I did mention maturation whilst adding the caveat that I'm not a scientist or expert. I'll dm you my email and get your obvious qualities on board at Higher Scents. Thanks
@ What a daft response! It's only to be expected, given the lack of knowledge and clear script reading in your videos. 2/10 for effort.
@PeteFisher-f9f a very credible rating, I only expected a 1 after your enlightening response. Yes indeed my script was 1 side of A4 paper with 10 questions on it, I done well to fit 25 minutes of pretty constant badly informed information to my viewers from just 1 sheet didn't I? Bearing in mind it all unedited and free flowing.
@PeteFisher-f9f how have you enjoyed your 2nd day on RUclips Sir? 0 subs yet but you'll do just fine im sure.
@@HigherScentsI used the word “videos.” Come on, pay attention. It’s very clear that you used scripts in most of your videos. I’m a nice guy, so I thought I’d give you a 2 to keep your spirits up!
😂😂 happy new year
I have the og.. and a sample of 45... 45 is different... more musky, like old wood board walls in a cabin. Its signature scent worthy, maybe even more than the original... more masculine, more calming and woody... less acridic. But it may not work well in warmer weather, seems more suited for the cold. Whereas the OG seems much more versatile, or even the opposite, where it;s better in warmer weather.
@@josephl6289 couldn't agree more.
You have as much charisma as the rotting innards of unidentified roadkill

@PeteFisher-f9f or you could just comment using your self confessed top fragrance channel's account instead of hiding behind anonymity?
@@HigherScents What would be the fun in that?
@PeteFisher-f9f ah and here's me taking your comments as genuine. Such a relief. If this is your idea of "fun" you need to get out more bro!
I have the newer "F" batch version. Comes with a metal cap and performs very well with 8-10+ hrs of longevity. Smells absolutely fantastic. No complaints here

I got a bottle of this from xerjoff directly. Batch code 14824N. I literally pick up 0 tobacco or honey. I get pure floral sweetness. It smells like a granny
8 minutes ago
I'm wearing this one out on Christmas eve. I think the tobacco, saffron and iris blend gives it a powdery cinnamon vibe that fits the holiday. I have a vintage (super dark juice) bottle but I have also tested the modern formula. The modern is great, but the vintage has a slight edge on depth and performance. Either way, you can't go wrong with this one.
Hello my friend, I enjoyed watching this interesting and distinctive video. A few days ago, I tried Royal Crown perfumes for the first time and I really liked Royal Tabac and Habanos. Their perfumes are really distinctive, luxurious and beautiful, but the issue of price caused a barrier for me, especially the confusion that I had on the one hand, a prestigious house and its perfumes are beautiful but not unique, to be honest. On the other hand, their prices range between $420 - $480, and this is very difficult to accept. I think that if their price ranged between $300 - $350, it would be very reasonable, but in the end, their perfumes are beautiful and wonderful to the farthest extent. Despite this, I bought the two perfumes and I am very happy with them.
@safamreeh5785 glad you enjoyed the review and that you're enjoying your purchases from the house. A great choice!
Enjoyed the review! Backup bottle had me in stitches. Whats better than 2 habanos?, 900 sheets in my wallet ;)
Fancy sending me a sample? Have thousands of scents so would offer an unbiased review
This one definitely goes dark on my skin after just an hour. I get the patchouli and a slight dirty earthiness. Matches with the narrative for me.
I'm jealous!
