    Broadcast error: at 8:49 the narrator says that Hermanski was replaced by Myron McCormick. Myron McCormick was an actor in 2 movies released in 1949 (memorable in "No Time For Sergeants" in 1958). Mike McCormick was the new right fielder, a good defensive outfielder who had come up with the Reds. A minor thing, unless you are in either of the McCormick families.

    • @charlesezell7043
      @charlesezell7043 14 дней назад

      Myron McCormick was Mike McCormick's given name. Mike was my Dad's cousin. After the Dodgers clinched, Mike's dad Mac, and my great grandfather took my dad, who was only 11 years old at the time, on a drive from Stockton California to NYC. They only got to see game 5. It's a long drive. Mike is in the Reds HOF. Starting in Right in the 1940 WS. He also played in the 1946 series, with the Boston Braves, subbing for an injured Jeff Heath. He had a great arm.

    It appears the Yankees of that era put on a clinic of baseball skills while the Dodgers exhibited an emotional effort. Not to say the Yankee clubs were cold robotic players, just that when a sacrifice, bunt or hit and run behind the runner was called for, each player did so. Each team had their stars, just that each Yankee player delivered regardless of their public persona and acclaim.

    • @BaseballBarnstormer
      @BaseballBarnstormer 20 дней назад

      @larryloveless2967 That's what I love about baseball. There is so much history and statistics about our sport, you can start understanding the players. I have never played strat-o-matic, but Im sure the sim gives you that feeling of watching the drama unfold. Does your version of the game have the same results over multiple plays?

    • @larryloveless2967
      @larryloveless2967 20 дней назад

      @@BaseballBarnstormer No. It is all about a dice roll of 3 dice with one determining whether to use a pitcher or batter player card and the other two for what happened. Defense for a at times is a separate roll The batter card.has the hitting probabilty for that player's season but the pitchers card for that season also comes in to play. The stats play out well over a full season but in a short series you never know. It gives you a very realistic game and pitching is very important like real life. I would say my 1950 Yankees team beats the 1953 Dodgers team more often because that staff of Raschi, Reynolds, Lopat, and Byrne with good enough reilef pitching is the difference. In this era I also have their 1954 Giants and 1954 Indians teams. They are fun to play. I am a Cards fan since being old enough to follow the game around 1960.
