In Jan 2024, at 49yrs I collapsed with an incurable brain cancer (Grade 3 Oligodendroglioma). Bugger!
Surgery, 33 rounds of radiation, and currently undergoing several months of chemotherapy.
Whilst my tumor was removed, this type re-occurs... so I'm living my life to my fullest, painting up a storm, surfing, and enjoying my family until I "drop my brushes". Hopefully not for a bloody long time yet!
My Channel is all about painting, making the most out of life, getting outdoors to our breath-taking beaches, rainforest and mountains where I live in Australia.
I hope you join me for a paint, learn, visit some beautiful locations and watch me carry on like a paint-spattered idiot gettin' busy living!

Join me in real-time as I paint an old stone building in the charming, historic town of Hahndorf, nestled in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.
During a break from my brain cancer 4th round of chemotherapy treatments, I was a bit knocked around but felt well enough for a road trip, so I took the chance to explore this beautiful area to paint and take some references!

Can you not make the colours yourself Matty? I honestly thought thats what people did.
I think you can buy the grounds and then add the binder, but for the sake of convenience and having a wide range of pigments, it’s easier to buy them in tubes. Good question though mate! Might be worth exploring for the more common colours you go through a lot of!
