Just bought this from Amazon and want to say the quality it fantastic but doesn't fit if you have a phone case. Would like to see a design that has some adjustability for the charge port. But like I said the quality is perfect.

@@MDVYN Thanks for the comments. There are so many different phones and cases it impossible to account for all of them. I tested it with the most popular Android and iPhones and it works perfectly with most popular Samsung, Pixel and iPhones. The biggest variable is the cases. It’s designed using the OEM cases and some popular cases from Amazon. Many people put rugged cases and really thick cases and these just won’t work.

So far i have just wrapped the cardboard spools with electrical tape. I like this better. You could print the bambu spools in diffrent colors or even modifiy the spool size to be wider if needed.

I run Polymaker exclusively and I hated the idea of ripping cardboard from the spool and potentially wasting that whole spool. However, with the tape, this changes things quite a bit. Thank you for sharing this tip and I'm definitely going to be doing this going forward!

Given that moisture is the mortal enemy of 3D filament. And given that cardboard is likely a moisture sponge. Isn't it a bad idea for the industry to be standardizong on cardboard?

No need for tape on a new spool, it will never move as long as you hold the end of the filament through the spool hole on the other side.

This is a great solve for the cardboard spools issues. I put my tape sticky side out and laid the start of the filament on that, then wrapped around the filament. Then the only sticky bit is on the end of the filament after you remove the tape. Thanks for the great hack!

if I needed to do that for every spool i buy I need to hire some guy for a full time job lol. i dropped all cardboard spool companies cause of this. I recently had the problem with Polymaker PC Max on cardboard and used the original printed adapter for AMS. Files made by polymaker. Even then it not fit really. Unfortunately it is one of the better PC filament you can buy. On normal PLA and PETG I avoid to buy cardboard spools.

Good tip and video for others that use filament on cardboard spools. I do the same thing but all that tape isn't necessary and it's just wasteful. Simply tape down your loose end (start) of filament and rip once of the cardboard sides out. Then you slide on the one half of the Bambu reusable spool, flip over and do the same. My two cents ;-)

not a bambu user, and I had a lot of plastic spools till recently (finally using up a spool of filament or two). I thought about the plastic rings to reinforce the spools, but maybe I'll work out something like bambu's two part spool to swap the filament from a cardboard spool.

Is the end of the filament secured to the inner cardboard hub? Never tried this, but I would think the end needs to be secured to the spool for ams rewinds towards the end of the filament. Amazing, I cant to wait to get rid of all of my Elegoo, Overture cardboard spools!

Just what I was looking for. Carboard spools are cool and good for the environment (in the long run) but honestly I have grown afraid they will ruin my AMS. The rings do work when the spool is not full, but they are not a good solution. I just noticed the AMS works perfect with plastic spools no matter if they are Bambu spools or not. Polymaker spools are a pain for the AMS, at least until they are about half way empty. I guess the weight and the force of the AMS pulling on them just makes a sort of spring system that fails and the AMS gets stuck, not good for its gears. Will try this as it definitely saves a lot of time and effort respooling while I can keep buying filament in carboard spools.

Just to add: this trick only works with spools that are exactly the same width. Sadly, the cardboard spools I have are less wide so for me the best option was to use electrical tape and wrap that all around the edges of the cardboard spools. Works like a charm.
