Bonafide RVR 119 - Why you shouldn’t buy!
Просмотров 4,8 тыс.Год назад
After taking this boat out a couple times I feel as though I have a good feel for what it is, and what it ain’t. This is my honest 300lb man review. It is fast and turns quickly. Easy to paddle and not too heavy. The seat is good, not great but good. All the gimmick stuff work as advertised. The issue is as a big guy, I pull water into the kayak. This makes me sit lower in the water than most a...
Perception Outlaw tackle storage. No more Saddle Bags.

Cheaper alternative to saddle bags on the perception outlaw kayak. I bought this on Amazon: ChromaCast JF-CC-MGB-BAG Musicians Bag a.co/d/8XNa2V1 in a size small. It will hold 4 3600 series boxes and one 3500 series box.

Unboxing and review of Vector Hooks

Today I unbox and take a look at my latest order from Vector Hooks. I am not on a pro staff and did not get paid for this. It is a product I use and have liked a lot so far. We are all looking for an edge on the water and I believe the quality behind these will give me that edge.

Would definitely upgrade those strings in the future, but overall this is a very solid idea.
Enjoyed the video but thought I'd offer some tips going forward for other vids. Sometimes people "can't see the forest for the trees" and need outside, independent, impartial observation and comment. 1. Saying "gis and gat" are NOT acceptable substitution's for "this and that." 2. It's 65 cents (with an s), not 65 cent. similarly you need "20 Feet of cable, not 20 foot." Do you not understand the basic difference between singular and plural? 3. You're using ply-ers, not plars. 4. As a self-confessed redneck, why are you buying chinese made products vs "Made in the USA???" 5. But most disturbing is you calling your father, on a public platform like RUclips, "Daddy." NO grown up male, certainly no REAL, masculine adult male, calls their father "Daddy!" It's gross, and in psychiatry, it's linked to an "erotic affinity to a male father figure." 6. In your video you mentioned that you feel that there should be "more right and wrong in the world." well, you should practice what you preach. Start with speaking/talking correctly and coherently. It'll make you sound less stupid. While proudly calling yourself a redneck might be "cool" in your southern circles, it's not cool to the rest of the world. It's a HUGE reason why they make fun of you people, why southerners are the brunt of so many degrading jokes, and one (of the many reasons) why you lost the Civil War. I hope that this (not gis) helped.
Nice setup! I have the same motor, but haven’t mounted it yet. I was gonna do the whole pwm/foot steer thing, but I think I’m gonna do it your way. Less expense and more simple. What is the extension handle and what kind of speed do you get on that BigRig? Thanks.
@@fly_yaker not sure on the speed. I fish mostly in rivers so the current varies the speed a lot. I know it did 3.8 in a lake. I’m 300# so that factors in also. I didn’t want to do a PWM after I’ve been out with a couple guys that were stranded after they failed. I used the Atwood handle but extended it with just a piece of pvc pipe I painted. I put a pin in it to make it easier to transport.
Using that hole on the motor going into a pulley system is genius. Gonna have to borrow that idea. Thank u for sharing!
Scupper plugs?
@@ryuflea maybe but I fish the river mostly. I’m always having to get in and out fishing shallow water. It just wasn’t the fit for me.
Do you really talk like Larry the Cable Guy?
No. He has a fake Oklahoma accent. I’m just a hillbilly from the Appalachian mountains.
well now....good video. IMHO I do not think the conduit is neccessary, nor the drilling of holes. I have something similar, but used a pulley that is attached to the bow carry handle. As for the retractable clothes line, I mounted it in a track with a tee bolt. Should I ever decide to go with an anchor trolley, I would attach a carabiner to the middle ring of the trolley and hang a pulley there. This would give me line management and the ability to position the anchor anywhere. No need for two anchors, but could be useful should you be in rivers. As for the knot, I use a figure knot which is pretty small and passes through the retractable clothes line (mine has a little holder built in to lock in the line, so I don't need a cleat either.) That being said, everyone has different needs and your idea is certainly a good way to go for what YOU need.
Thanks and I agree. I did this years ago and still have it like this and use it from time to time. I’ve got a few other kayaks but have not used the conduit pipe on them.
Hi buddy but did your kajak was to heavy on that side flip when empty
No concerns of flipping. It did well for me at the time. Turning was tough and I now have a stern mounted motor in a different kayak.
“How great thou art”? A hymn translated to native language?
Use scupper plugs it will make a vaccum and be more stable
Would a nucanoe unlimited be okay for you?
I’m going to try one this weekend. A close by shop is having NuCanoe demo days.
@@mtnwayadventures9661 Great news! Please let me know your results.
Have you paddled the Jackson Bite for its initial stability?
I have but I push the weight limit. The Coosa fit me a little better and I have a Big Rig heavy barge lol
My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
Just took this out on my maiden voyage on biscayne bay. Have it hooked up to an intex excursion 5 and 100 ah battery. Easy to install. The height adjustment feature could glide easier but honestly no real complaints with this. Great product.
Make sure to use lithium grease on the motor shaft. Makes all the difference.
Could have just put a pulley on the bottom caribiner. On motor. That would have given you 2 to1. Right?
Yeah I started to do that but I didn’t want a submerged pulley
Great sharing 🥰🥰🥰🥰
What size of wood is that? Length and thickness
The width is 5/4”. I don’t remember the length.
Cool video but your breathing gave me asthma attack and anxiety lol.. I’m a big dood too and I feel your pain lol
You want to be at or less than around 60% of the kayaks capacity for the water to stay lower in the scuppers. You could also use scupper plugs. Foam golf balls make great scupper plugs. Then your gear, you’re a big boy, you are 100% gonna need scupper plugs I think no matter what kayak you choose, except maybe the largest kayaks like say a native watercraft titan? If you like the boat and are keeping it, scupper plug it. Have fun
Thanks. I have a Jackson BigRig, Perception Outlaw, Big Fish 120 and a Wilderness Ride 115. This is the only one that water comes in on.
Hello I hope you are well. In advance really cool idea that I would like to adapt. What exactly are these tubes and what diameter are they? 😊
AMEN!!!
Loved your video. You sound like my kinda guy. Keep it up
That's a pig!
Unfortunately the inside liner rips after a few times putting the cases in... then it's a freaking fight... otherwise a GREAT bag..
I haven’t had any trouble with that, but the outer part ripped on me where I put weight on it getting in and out and zip tied it to my seat.
I’ll buy it from ya!
I did end up selling it. It just wasn’t for me. I liked the set up. Would be good for a normal sized person, just not me.
Came here from a suggestion by Mickey. Looks dang good!
I have old time kayak
Most kayak companies include their weight of the kayak in the weight capacity. May be your problem. The shock cord in the rear tank well has a seat clip that hooks on to the seat bar to hold the seat down. Load the boat bow first and lay the seat back and go down the highway at 70 mph. I do it regularly.
My only experience with new kayaks, the companies did not include the weight of the kayak. If the weight limit of my big rig is 550, that is not using the weight of the kayak to take it down to 450 lbs. the capacity does NOT include seat and drive. Wilderness also does not count the weight of the kayak into the capacity. Not sure if other brands as I have no experience with the customer service part of it. You are right about the seat bar holder. I just didn’t see it at the time.
Great review thanks. My ss127 has 2 clips on the bungee to hold seat down in back. Seems like that one should also. I was considering selling my 127 and buying one of these. May test drive one first. Thanks
Great review! I LOVE the idea of that handle located in the back middle...that would make loading the kayak into my truck so much easier! Thanks for the info.
Very nice! Thanks for the information!
Kayak weight limit is determined by your weight is a little misleading in the Kayak industry. When they say a boat has a weight capacity of 425 lbs, that’s your weight plus your gear weight plus the actual weight of the kayak itself. So bonafides website says 425 but that is not the usable capacity. You subtract the 85 lbs the boat weighs leaving you with 385 then subtract the weight of yourself and gear. A good rule of thumb is to not exceed 70% of that max capacity as well because at that point it dramatically effects the performance of the kayak. Hope this comment helps someone.
Most companies do not include the weight of the kayak itself. You must count the seat, accessories, tackle, angler, etc but not the vessel itself. I wish they would make it uniform like they have in the boat industry. Boat weight capacity never includes the boat. I hope that the USCG will look into this and make it a uniform system for everyone and require testing. It does say on Bonafide’s website to include the kayak weight in the capacity. It isn’t hidden. I just didn’t think to look for that caveat with them considering I own 5 other kayaks and none of them include the vessel weight into the capacity.
@@mtnwayadventures9661 The Bonafide website specifically says "Note: Capacity is determined by taking kayak weight + paddler weight + gear weight."
@@mickeyhavoc939 you are right. I just wanted to point out to people who are used to companies that tell you how much weight it holds, not how much total weight can be on the water. Capacity probably shouldn’t include the vessel weight. Maybe one day it will become standardized.
That's the problem with kayak manufacturing. High weight capacity means a big heavy hard to paddle kayak. Good review tiny. Hate the boat is not working out for you.
Thanks man. I hate I had to sell it. I think I will use the cash to fix my kayak hauler some more.
Crescent CK1 weighs 60lbs and has a capacity of 400lbs. I think it has more to do with the design of the kayak than the actual size and weight.
Sitting in water all the time would be a deal breaker but any addon's would be easy to install!!😎
That's one reason I like the Shoalie. I'm 325 and run scuppers out. The Shoalie sits higher in the water as well. The rvr 119 is a good yak though.
I have a Shoalie and I like it.
Thank you for your review on it like when people are honest I just bought on not long ago I weigh 270 hope I have better luck with the water coming in
It’s hard to find reviews on kayaks that haven’t been out long. People are either sponsored or feel like they paid a fortune and have to like it. I won this in a raffle for our kayak group.
Great review! Thanks for sharing!
Do you know if the RVR power pole ready like the SS127 etc?
“For anglers who want powered options for anchoring and propulsion, the RVR 119 transom is shaped to accept a motor and Power-Pole bracket.” Got that from the website. I’m not familiar with the power poles.
Thanks for the review my friend
Thank Mike, good info! I have a buddy that has been looking at these and this will help!
I have this one for sale. If you want to try it one evening and I haven’t sold it I can meet you and you can try it. Just give me a holler.
Hello bro!! Good job 👏🏻, what about turning the engine 360°? won't the rope get in the way? I intend to do this on my aluminum boat, climb this way but using an electric car window motor.
I’ve never turned it 360. It turns well and then I always have the reverse feature.
Those are some units in those photos
