WW2 Helmets Restored: Burned Relic and a Tricolor Decal!
In this video, I restore and preserve two WW2 German helmets, each with its own unique history and challenges.
The first helmet was found near Skrunda, in the Courland Pocket, in a burned-out bunker. It was covered with thick layers of rust and buildup. After cleaning off the debris, I discovered it was heavily corroded and full of holes. Despite its poor condition, I decided to give it a chance and soaked it in an oxalic acid solution.
While waiting, I received a second helmet, found near Tukums and purchased from a friend. Unfortunately, this helmet had been partially cleaned with a grinder, leaving it damaged and poorly restored. Since the first helmet was in such bad shape, I decided to...

There are some things that can't be restored, like the loss of life in ww2.
Do you call this a restoration ????
No, I call it modern art in progress. But thanks for the feedback!
There Is nothing that you can't find❤
0:24 I see a decal.
Good job❤
For cleaning and protecting my helmets I use Ballistol universal oil. It protects very well against further rust, red rust is active, you can remove it with this, it also gives a natural color to the helmet. This natural oil is used a lot by collectors, also for weapons.
Thank you very much for the comment and suggestion, I will definitely take it into account 👍
From Poland friend from tik tok nice job !!!!!
So much rust on it good job , but sometimes rust can ruin all work
@@MONETYzHISTORIA unfortunately 🤷♂️

@@Ww2history_collector I'm not lucky, I just walk with a metal detector very often.🤣
Did you find any bones?
@ no, never
Sveiks!
Oh my God Oh my God, you hid the swastika we can all sleep tonight…………what a society we have become as the old saying goes those who forget the past are sure to repeat it……
@@Joe-lq6xy Unfortunately, I had to blur the swastika because it’s required by RUclips’s guidelines. I regret that such restrictions exist, but I need to follow them to keep the channel running.
Jesus H. tap dancing Christ! You can’t even show a swastika??
@@tjtinsurvivaltin3797 these are the RUclips rules 🤷♂️😒

I'm from Italy. Good job!! If you have a video of the place where you found it, please post it. 💪
@@matei82 Thank you very much! Unfortunately, I haven't filmed my metal detecting finds because it was quite a while ago. Nowadays, I go metal detecting less often, as I buy many WWII items from friends. I really hope that next year I will have more time and opportunities to dedicate to my metal detecting hobby.
Good job
