Shame the system seemed to have a fault in the receiver voter for years. You can hear it a few times where the audio from the mobile is scratchy for a few seconds, then clears up. The old callsigns were so much more efficient too!
This is a blast from the past!! My dad was a retained fireman @ Pocklington (Alpha 7) station..think I'm right in thinking that Alpha 6 was Market Weighton, Bravo & Delta signs were South of the Humber??
Yes you are correct A7 was pocklington and A6 Mkt Weighton. South of the Humber were C and D Divisions C1 being Grimsby and D1 Scunthorpe and D2 Goole etc, A and B div's where north of the river.
The main scheme radio talk groups for communicating with control is encrypted for all fire services, however the fire ground radios used by the firefighters to talk to each other at incidents is usually using DMR or analogue and is typically unencrypted (encryption usually requires a repeater, fireground radios are usually Unrepeated) therefore it is possible to scan their frequencies if you are within ample range of the transmissions.
