Gold Bridge is a tiny town just south of the Chilcotin mountain range. While it gets a lot of tourists in the summer, it's empty and quiet during the winter - the perfect place to get up to shenanigans and appreciate the beauty of the back country while still having a warm, dry place to sleep.

    Try 7 to 12 hours from Vancouver. The only short 5 hour is if you only take the first ferry out at horseshoe bay. Powell river people should have priority boarding on the ferries since they are part of our highway. But we get screwed all the time by BC ferry committee and BC Ferries.

    • @nomorewasteddays5406
      @nomorewasteddays5406 2 года назад

      Thanks for the comment Jennifer! I know many people come to RUclips seeking travel advise and answers to real questions, the how and the where, if you will. I find there are hundreds of thousands of hours of that kind of content online and can be found when needed. I'm aiming to build a channel that is less about the how you get somewhere and more about the why you would want to go there, or in more broad terms, why we go anywhere. It's no secret that venturing into the backcountry isn't very comfortable, so why do so many of us keep doing it? And I'm sure many people will disagree with my personal reasons and have their own reasons for getting out, but I want to explore what it means to me and hopefully inspire others to give it a try, or at least help them understand what reason we would have for getting up at 5:30 on our day off and hiking 1100m of vertical instead of staying at home safe and comfortable. I hope you get to San Josef and find it as magical as we did!
