Also surely the newest RTD season makes up for past Tardis transgressions by making his newest season revolve around things happening to the Tardis and making it have implications for the whole show, even if it is still a doorway to other adventures.

iirc Matt Smith said something about how there actually is a manual that he got about how to control the TARDIS so i think maybe its just something they didnt really worry about with Ecclestan's run but with subsequent doctors they do actually map out the control room and tell the actor what everything does so they dont make that mistake of using the same lever/button etc to do two different things.

I've been listening to the WP for years and had not been able to tell if the love for Sunshine was real or a joke. So happy to hear it's real, cus this movie rewired my brain.

I’ve seen it twice, when I was a kid and last year. It’s not as terrible as I remember it but I agree with Laurence. It’s the worst one because of the stunt casting and the weird CG action. The monkeys and aliens in particular. Shia is terrible but I also think Cate Blanchett and John Hurt were miscast. Otherwise it’s fine.

When I was 12 I have just watched this movie and my nan had a broken freezer box in her garden, me and my mate would take turns sitting in it while the other pelted bricks at It to simulate the nuke scene, this one time a brick slid off the top and smashed my nan's Elton John gnome, me and my mate were like, fuck, so we scooped up the pieces and threw in a bush, my nan noticed it was missing immediately and subjected us to 4 hours of interrogation to make us confess to where it was and what happened. I have so much trauma from the Elton John gnome incident I had to attend child therapy and it permanently destroyed my family's relationship with my grandma, so other than that stuff, pretty fun movie

I watched this last night after hearing James mention it in such high regard. Thankfully I didn't have the twist spoiled for me by the trailer (what an odd decision to include that right, right?) Went in completely cold and it made me feel so uneasy the whole way through. The flashes of that group shot as they enter the Icarus I were so deeply unsettling. 😳

I Knew that everything was up S..t creak when they listened to Icarus 1 s beacon. That was so disturbing to me..

By the way, Joel McKinnon Miller, the actor that plays Scully, is an alumni at my college, and I met him in an elevator once and got a selfie with him. I felt stupid afterward, because I wanted to tell him how good he is in that last scene.

There’s a comic book that takes this concept and leans into the religious side of things called Punk Rock Jesus. I remember it being pretty good. Also there was recently a very funny show called Judy Duty, which ethically is concerning in this way because they tricked a man into thinking he was doing jury duty with weird people but he was the only non-actor in a scripted television show. It’s a good show, but worrying.

I watched these so much when I was a kid and I was that weird kid who had no friends and watched TV with his mom all the time and was a huge fan of Hugh Grant and John Malkovich and Hugh Laurie so I’m unable to take my nostalgia glasses off for these two. Even though I’ve grown up since then and I spend all my time watching Paddington 2.

I like the original Planet of the Apes, I watched it recently, I think it holds up. I’ve seen none of the sequels and I haven’t seen the Tim Burton one. I get Laurence saying Rise is boring, especially in comparison to the other two, I think it would be a 75% better movie than it already is if they’d cast someone who was a good actor as the lead and not James Franco, who I’ve never liked in a non-comedic role, or a comedic role, or in general.

I can understand Nathan’s arguments about feeling spiteful towards annoying film weirdos who think A24 is gospel, but that is part of why I deleted Twitter. I was sick of everyone’s annoying opinions being blasted at me about things I did enjoy or didn’t enjoy and wanted to view these things on my own merits. Watch these movies to make you happy and don’t go with film guy gospel. Have your opinions and stand by them. Don’t avoid good A24 movies just because you think people are wanky. Make the decision for yourself.

I’m with Laurence. Best movie ever. It’s part of my source code as a human being. It’s the first movie I ever saw, I was two years old and my dad had to hold my seat down so I wouldn’t go flying. Such an incredible film, I instinctively started humming the theme before Laurence did. So so so so good.

If Yesterday wasn’t sort of a Beatles Jukeboxish, I would totally make one centered around the court case of Maxwell, the serial murderer who kills with hammers, and how he’s gonna get the electric chair and won’t be 64, time feels like it takes 8 days a week, and he won’t have another good morning ever again.
