conical baffle suppressor simulation
This is my attempt to improve to the conical baffle.
I made one image and tested it with several rounds. This improvement doesn't look really good. Project you can be found here

Tesla valve in the annular chamber of the suppressor.
This is just a simulation, I have no plans to do it in matter. In this project, I tried to reduce the back pressure and find a balance between low back pressure and low sound of the outflow of gases from the annular chamber into the atmosphere. you probably know oss suppressor. I looked at what would happen if the spiral labyrinths were replaced with Tesla valves in the annular chamber. and als...

Interesting
I will perfect this and try it myself. In Minecraft
What simulator are you using ? is this in Solidworks. How do you set this up. I would like to try my own on solid works.
what software is that?
Hello. From your videos, I am left with the impression that you probably have knowledge and accumulated practice with suppressors. what would be the best suppressor design for an airgun in your opinion.
Depends on your budget. If your budget is zero dollars then take a used 1-liter plastic Coke bottle and tape it to the end of your barrel. You can drill a small hole in the end for the projectile to escape. If you have a 3D printer you can print a suppressor on most would be fine with air rifles.
k-baffles are an equivalent "design" for a tesla valve
Did it reduce the pressure / noise wave from the blast? If so by how much ?
Glad to see you kept at it.
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking about the tesla valve for this application lol.
Excellent! Could you make a tutorial?
it's very nice work sir
Beauty
Could you help me please with the boundary conditions?? Do you have an example? I have to calculate my model with suppressor and with muzzle brake in ANSYS
Send me email

I thought of this tonight, beat me to it! I was thinking 3D printed metal monocore with a couple of radials before the core. Good work! Would be gassy but with a piston action and a variable-position regulator between the piston and barrel port, I think it may be an interesting experiment. Somebody was screwing around with the Archimedes screw principle years ago for .50BMG if I recall correctly...
your simulations make me drooll.
is the projectile supersonic?
Fantastic!. Clearly the device does not works as pretended by Tesla.
very interesting design. It blows the fluid in front of the projectile and reduce the discharge coefficient in the next hole. It seems that it begins badly and ends very well.
Can you ask the software for a local mas flow map?
Ansys
very didactic experiment!
something is wrong. core vortex speed must be very high and pressure very low. is t beyond scale?
everything is right here. it is a steady state flow. the speed is reduced and the maximum in the bullet channel, this indicates the low efficiency of the suppressor. There is no pressure chart in this video. The scale is at the top of the screen.
@@hamond6472 It is an interesting design because the vorticity reduces the natural frequency of the chambers, however, since there is a toroidal vortex, it reduces the mass that each chamber can accept. Also, a lot of useless volume. Maxim also tested another design with an axilsymmetric vortex generatos, where the minimum pressure is in the central channel. However, it was much more expensive to produce. Beretta used a 3D evolution of those types of silencers for closed bolt pistols. There is also a subtle modification to the Maxim that greatly increases its performance. One aspect of this is that they work well on the first expansion chamber but not on the others or near the outlet. In blowback pistols this is the guarantee that the explosion will come from behind. I know taht!. Now I remember seeing a Makarov silencer that took this into consideration by using a single large resonant chamber with a wire cooler and resistive center tube. Very simple, efficient, cheap, low tech and could be calculated manually. Sadly I stopped doing these things almost 30 years ago, long before a home computer could do things like that. Here all that is illegal and nobody develops silencers. Nobody develops anything here! :/
I have some designs far simpler than the Tesla valve and theoretically more efficient for an accumulative multichamber silencer. Hard to dimensione however. Are you interested?
thanks for the offer, but right now I'm only interested in winning the war against russia.
@@hamond6472 ohhh. O_O so you are Ukrainian. Hard and sad situation. I have friend in both sides including a couple.
Impressive!. So much changed from my days with silencers 30 years ago!. all must be in your brain and you need to know a lot of compressible gas dynamics to understand what the hell is going inside. What soft do you use for that?
I have watched all your videos. Thank you for your hard work. However, your simulations look far from believable. 1) What gas model did you use? 2) What were the pressure and temperature of the gas at the inlet? 3) How did you set the amount of gas at the inlet? 4) What initial conditions of the atmosphere did you set? 5) Were the walls of the device declared to be smooth and adiabitic? 6) What was the scale of turbulence given?
Before asking a question in the hope of getting an answer, ask yourself what did you do for Ukraine? Follow the Russian warship!
first, it is not a valve it was designed to have a no-cogging fuel pump to be used in winter without any help or heat source from the outside. Placing it near the engine block helps too.
Where you got the dimensions? That's for education purpose 🤔
can you share with me your ansys file
So it's a tesla valve attached to a gun barrel?
yes
@@hamond6472 How does it perform compared to other suppressors ? Are you satisfied?
Question, how does this compare to normal suppressors? It looks pretty good to me.
Very efficient silencer
Your simulation shows gas escaping into the SOLID metal of the threaded adapter; something which you should know is impossible.
what is your boundary conditions and initial conditions?
is there any tutorial for that?
not here

some of that preassure goes over and in front of that bullet. That seems like it would slow it down no?
I think in theory yes. the question is how much?
Thank you for your video. In your tests, gases do not overtake a bullet? It looks a little strange.
there is no bullet in this test
@@hamond6472 I'm sorry I didn't explain what I mean by your tests in general and not this particular one. Of course there is no bullet in this test.
@@baykajiak2614 check the whole video on this channel and you will find many such simulations where there is a bullet. thanks for your interest in my videos
@@hamond6472 It's a pity that you don't have instructional videos. I work in Solidworks at an amateur level. This does not allow me to conduct such research. Your videos clearly explain the movement of gas inside the device. Thanks to you, I was able to improve my understanding of the process of gas discharge.
how did you made this video?
Exactly what I was looking for.
I want to learn all of these things, can you please help me?
I would like to see a "Tesla valve " has anyone tested that?
Very nice simulation, looks very impressive! Was it done in Ansys only or is it coupled simulation using also Ls dyna with Arbitrary Eularian Lagrangian method? Can you tell the formulation for the gun powder?
I would love to see something like this in action. I'd pay big money for a design like this to work. I've got some ideas for this.
unfortunately this is not possible right now. in my country now the war with Russia, I am a volunteer in the army. All I care about is how to get the right parts, s case, bullets, etc. You know, slightly different priorities.
