10 August 2010: Tall ships race 2010 participants Kaliakra (Bulgaria), Pogoria (Poland) and Pelican of London (UK). Some of the ships(eg Stavros S Niarchos and Kaliakra) return to Hartlepool for another race the following day. Includes Vintage vessel MV Balmoral. I've uploaded before but this time it has a better quality picture.

Part of the Cunard ship QE2s 40th anniversary tour. The QE2 was built on the Clyde, Scotland but this visit was to commemorate another famous Cunard ship RMS Mauritania(1906) which was built at Swan Hunters in Wallsend in the North East of England. The QE2 was used as a troop carrier during the Falklands conflict in 1982.

This was filmed while waiting for tall ships during Newcastle Gateshead segment of the Tall Ships in 2005. It was originally named the 'Dana Anglia' and appeared in series 2 and 3 of the BBC Soap 'Triangle'. A series set onboard a North sea ferry.. From 2009- it is owned by the italian Moby line . We sailed on this ship in 1982 and 1983 on family holidays to Denmark, loved it!! Was on HEART FM BRISTOL this morning on air talking about it when Bush, Troy and Paulina were doing the Time Tunnel segment, the year was 1982 and the songs played were on in the ships disco. Happy days.
On my great Interrail trip 1996, I travelled on this ship from Esbjerg from Harwich.
