I think its unfair compared eiyuden with suikoden, suikoden 1&2 was perfect game while eiyuden try to meet suikoden standard

I agree fire emblem can have better combat. But not 3 houses. That combat was horrible too easy too homogenized and just plain dumb

Putting politics in my games is one of the worst things. I hope nobody touches IPs while this crap is ongoing. After waiting to see if the game is censored now we have to see if text is close as possible to Japanese script.

Ouka studio only got shut down because China want investments in games to go back in China instead of investing in japan. But yes f*k them. The game is well worth buying though because ultimately if it sells well Square could save the studio.

Very based, some series should stay dead if they aren't being brought back by actually good devs with a spine and a vision for it. Also Gust isn't afraid to go darker in some of their games so I completely trust them for Atelier :)

It's easy to say a studio is better off closed than being with a woke company, but there's often not much option, so that take is a little too simplistic. Not every company can succeed independently.

I just 100 sophie 2 great game.

I played the Arland trilogy and Shallie on PS3 and everything that was originally released on PS4/PS5. I believe the older games aren't AS hard as people make it out to be, i think the time management is doable and the games are ok. Of course, the older games lack the charm of newer games such as Lydie&Suelle and Lulua, but it scratches an itch if you are desperate for an Atelier game. But, if i'm being honest, i'm the type of person that is fine with getting a normal ending instead of the true ending if i'm not going for 100%, so there's that...

I didn't find it too hard but I reduced the difficulty on some of the dragons to farm them. I find a lot of their games put really hard final bosses infront if you. I've been playing Shallie and Lulua too. Despite being pretty easy they suddenly pulled out massive bosses that constantly heal themselves if you don't damage them fast enough. I am playing in Japanese though so maybe it's a language problem.

The original Atelier Sophie was my first atelier game and the enemies at night were kind of brutal whenever a new area unlocked. The final boss didn't give me too much trouble on my second attempt but it was still a challenge, the DX version seemed to be easier but that's hard to say as the time between me playing one from the other was 5 years or so. One thing I can say is the final bosses in both Lulua and Lydie & Suelle gave me the most trouble. I lost count how many hours and attempts I lost fighting those two.

Eh. I played atelier sophie in hard mode, yeah final boss is definitely a challenge, but with right preparation (crafting the best equipment for each character) is very doable. I did not even grind.

I haven't played Sophie in forever. I don't remember the final boss being hard. I played the PS4 original version. There's a bonus boss on Escha and Logy DX that I can't beat. It gets it's HP back whenever it kills a party member, and fills up the battle meter with extra attacks. You get the platinum without having to take it out, so I'm not wasting my time messing with making better equipment.

After I met the level cap and saw the super grind afterward to gain a small boost in stats, I stopped playing. I liked Sophie until then, which I have played on the Switch. I might go back to try finishing, but the sour grindfest has ruined my love for the game.

For me, the main disadvantage is that now the release of remakes and remasters is perceived as a serious release. For example, people like Star Ocean 2 remake, but it does not compare in coolness with the original at the time of its release. And despite the availability of games thanks to remakes, often the gameplay or their ideas are very outdated.

Yeah, the older games definitely rely on the more end game traits...

I like a nice challenge. Next to play Atelier Sophie.

I got P3 FES and P4 for $30 each, still sealed from Amazon not that long ago. I picked up the Shadow Hearts trilogy for around $250 for the whole collection about 2 minths ago. The first 2 Xenosaga games are pretty reasonable, though the third one costs a bit more. Okage: Shadow King is almost always available for less than $40. Radiata Stories has been slowing rising in value over the last few years as well.

I picked up my copy of Star Ocean on ps2 for really cheap, so I imagine it still is.
