Check out my modified 1974 Datsun 260Z equipped with Triple Weber DCOE style carbs during its first hub dyno tuning session! Watch as I sit in the driver's seat and the car is hooked up to the dyno for a quick session before heading to work. This was a very quick time frame to get the car tuned unfortunately the car was still very temperamental and was very rich or extremely lean in a lot of si...

I have not been to a Drifting event at WWTR in a while. Check out STLSCCA for their Auto Cross (Solo) Schedule at the Family Arena. They are having one Sunday Nov. 10th, but due to a previous commitment I will not be there. Maybe I will see you at one next year. Should not be too far of a drive for you.
@@Blu_Grit_Garage I was just at the family today for the hot wheels monster truck show. Unfortunately my car isn't scca class legal but I was thinking about just going for fun
@ They can always find a class for you. You can even run a fun class just to get a time.

Hey Shawn! I heard about you through Andy, the Casper Ford. How do I get your information so I can tell you what I need done? Looking forward to working with you.
@@reimoloon I should have a email in my channel description
I didn't get to meet you at NNN24 this year. I was there but wasn't feeding the best. Ill be getting my gears turning on 3D printed parts
Very nice. I would maybe make the flanges thicker or add some webbing. I would definitely put o-ring seals everywhere, especially with the different thermal expansion rates. But i know nothing about this. Im here to learn.🎉
@@mikegreer9041 this is a fairly older revision. And there are definitely massive thermal properties going on. I do design in stages so it was the hard unmovable point, then move to runner design and carburetor placement. Placing the carburetor the farthest and closest spot possible is a good exercise. Then I make the wall thickness and start reinforcing the structure.
I am so happy to know that my car will be well taken care of. I have a few things for my baby to look over when he comes.
The kid is going to be a natural mechanic!!!!!
Great job Dad! I had my son removing head nuts years ago with his rubber gloves & Home Depot apron...time flies. I had a great time getting to meet you and makes some passes down the track this last weekend!
Great video brother! Good job start em young!
i loved the wiring, looks like my 1961 chevy dubl-duti step van project rewire
The engine bay wiring harness has been remade by me twice now. I even swapped the dash boards out for the slightly better harness. Now that it's proven functional, and I'm finished racing for the year, I'm going back in to clean it all up!!
same here, get it working then clean it up
Good to pit next to you at No Name Nationals! I was already subbed to your channel but didn't have the bell on, so I turned it on now.
@@buffdelcampo thank you buff I made it back home In shape. Thank you for the great conversations and help!
Keep up the good work on the z
Same here! I've just about got it licked though....only a hydraulic line replacement and general clean-up of the buggy and trailer this weekend, so not a big deal. I just got mine running a week or two ago, so I'm trying to get it tuned as best I can with the jets/venturis I have. It seems to be getting close though - I'm basically gonna run it untested for the most part 😜, so it could be good or bad. lol.
@@culturedredneckgarage3784 I find street driving and the trick with pulling the main tube helps a lot with the tuning. And if it's running then you know your close!
It looks like you are covering getting the window to sit in the frame correctly. What about the other piece of alignment? For instance, my driver door, when the window is fully rolled up, there is around a 3/8 inch gap between the new seal and the window frame of the door. How to you change THAT angle, so the window is flush with the door frame?
@@rdh2059 where is the gap on top or on the back side by the quarter window
@@SeanOBryanZZ With the door closed, the seal that is glued to the chassis door frame has a gap of about 3/8 inch from the top metal window frame (the frame with the window rolled up completely).
@@rdh2059 ah okay the later models have a piece of weather stripping there are you missing this piece? There shouldn't be much adjustment but the metal frame can be removed very easily so that could be work.
@@SeanOBryanZZ 1971 240Z. The gap is such that when driving down the road with the window rolled up, I can feel air blowing. It's significantly more gap than a seal would normally handle.

@@SeanOBryanZZ yeah I saw you did the fourth hole mod. Did you have a jig? How did you know what size and where to drill? Idle is terrible and it's a hard start for me many turnovers before it starts.. 3.5psi at my gauge under the hood before the carbs. Wot I'm 11-13 afr. Freeway cruising I'm at 11-13afr. Shockingly poor. Roland Hayes, HT Racing Ltd
Yes, most of the tuning could have been done long before a dyno session..
This was the very first session and I think I showed all the pulls except one. We really only had 40 mins or so before I had to go to work. Do you have any suggestions I'll probably be back on the Dyno tomorrow.
We wanted to load the car up to see what it does and this was the safest way
This is where my old man shined. He could synch and tune carbs like a demon. And set up points, time dwell with mastery! Geez I remember now the rack of monometers and timing and dwell meters the size of shoe boxes lol. Oh Oh and a spray bottle of water to see how hot each cylinders exhaust was from how fast the water would evaporate. Old school. He and my uncle would tell me about how they both learned to braze to make quad and six pack intake manifolds in the 50,s. and had carbon flapper wheel superchargers that made like 4-5 psi on a good day. Carbs, I have a love-hate with them. Such a beutifull contraption, yet a simple Haltech EFI will out perform it in EVERY single comparison, except poor fuel mileage. carbs win there. Nevertheless I still have to Holley 750Dbl pmps and manifold for fun, and a 650 vac sec for the street on the 82 caprice. last carbs ill ever run cept on 2strokes. Long post sorry wont edit maybe something in it for ya.
Sean, what were the Hp and TQ. numbers? the linked videos were blocking them at the end of the video.
Oh sorry I'll change that. It is a rough tune right now but 144lbs-ft and 125hp
@@SeanOBryanZZ what rear gear ratio are you running again? Also is it the stock trans.?
@@buicksmith1249 well in the video it's a R200 diff welded and it's 3.90. as of yesterday though it's a R180 diff open and a 3.54 gear. The transmission is essentially stock besides it be the 5 speed version not a 4 speed. Lightened the flywheel by 8 lbs and has. Heavyweight oe clutch setup

Is it bad to breathe in the cloud after the car pulls out?
Probably 🤔

Before Drag racing on a Prepared Track the track Crew will clean the track then begin to add rubber to the ground by dragging tires on the ground with a tractor. (Seen off in the distance) This then gets sprayed with glue and we repeat the process over and over until the track is perfectly flat and sticky. I'm just picking up the larger trash and debris to keep things clean.
I love bike racing!
Congrats on making it past 1,000 Subscribers !! We are trying to make it to 500 so we can run the No Name Nationals this year, any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated !! Thx, Mike
There you go a lot of raw fuel just getting pumped out and exhaust and it right at the end and now you want to talk about air pollution
I remember a time we just went outside and beat pots and pans together to make noise!!!!
Haha that's hilarious. You probably need quite a few pot and pan to match this guy
in a beetle is CRAZY
Yeah this thing in person is crazy. And in 12 days I know he's going to be laying on the 2step for a long time in a competition at IFO
When did car culture devolve into sitting and revving the shit out of your car? I miss the way it used to be.
Check out my recent video I uploaded. There is plenty of actual action going on. This guy in particular is a multiple time two step champion. This was during midnight madness and we had 100 plus drift cars and 5-600 cars drag racing.
Looks like alot of time money and maintenance but this is nice to see
Definitely nice to see. I'm pretty sure he was actually practicing for a competition in 2 weeks. I'm going to video it but I wouldn't be surprised I get 20 full minutes of him laying on the 2 step
I can't even drift in a video game
