What stood out to me visually is the relative lack of attractive actors and the shittyness of the costumes in general. It feels like 80% of the money was spent on the CGI shots and the rest of the show was made on the cheap. The writing obviously is the worst part, but like I said, even the visuals are not consistently great or even good. Too many scenes are ruined by terrible costumes and miscast actors

It's stated in this video that the license itself was a big chunk of the costs. This alone should make intelligent people understand that only Amazon could have considered making the series. Also, the Tolkien estate prohibited any participation from Peter Jackson because of the way he made The Hobbit. Yet the costs seem to be magically too high compared to other movies. Except Avatar, as mentioned in the video. Funny you mentioned it, as both Avatar and the Rings of Power rely on magnificent sceneries that cost to set up or make with CGI. Lotr as opposed to say GoT needs to convey the large scale of a fantasy world. While GoT is impressive, all the movies based on Tolkien's world are on another level. Admit it, most people have a beef with Amazon. The big bad corporations we love to use and love to hate. There are too many people nowadays that hate things for existing. Take the show for what it is, you'll probably enjoy it. Everyone was enthralled by GoT for doing it's own thing with 0 care about the audience. Until it hastily packed it's things and headed out to buy a pack of cigarettes.. I understand the frustration somewhat.

Well this was actually very eye opening regarding RoP just being a giant advertising campaign for Amazon, and moving forward I will be spitefully ordering things elsewhere just because they ruined some of my favorite IP. I don’t care if it costs me extra. You are losing most of my business, Amazon, and I hope others fully boycott as well.
