Improving guitar playability and looks with just one work
Hello! It's been a while since my last upload. It's been a slow few weeks on my workplace and I'm busy with personal life. But the good news is that I I have a few guitars that are 'abandoned' that I salvaged and restore them all to playable condition. Also I just moved into a new home and I plan to shoot videos at my own house.
Here I'm only doing a fret levelling and setup on one of the showroom guitar for now.

Restoring an abandoned Ibanez GIO electric guitar

This guitar went in for electronic repairs way back from around 2018 but never returned to owner despite the numerous attempt to contact the owner. Since then, this guitar parts was stripped for parts and leaving empty spaces. Hey folks! Normally a player wouldn't want to do service such as refret due to the cost is similar to getting a brand new one but he seems to be keen on replacing the worn out frets. As requested, I am obliged to do my absolute best to give a new life as well as plays like the real thing! Enjoy!

Regluing Martin Dreadnought Jr Acoustic Bridge

This is actually a brand new Martin acoustic, unfortunately the bridge starts to lift on one corner. The owner tried to claim warranty for the defects but the store didn't entertain him very well. So, he requested to just fix this issue before it gets worse. Enjoy!

While editing, I notice that there are few steps that I did not do correctly and plus, I have no premium equipment and I have to make do with what I have in my pockets. Hi ! Thx for the video, but this is not a "one job" fix. Why the super glue under the frets at the beginning? Were there some "moving" frets. I've never seen that before unless some frets were not well pressed in.
@@mrdt011 True. Some of the frets are moving, fretboard radius isn’t properly sanded and I’m being told to not refret the guitar, so my options are limited
Any tips on installing the electronics? Im about to renew the whole electronics on my ibanez gio. Do you have any wiring diagrams or was it just your understanding behind it?
@@DerVerdy I remember some common diagrams and understand what’s going on behind it. Depends on what are you trying to achieve but I always refer to Seymour Duncan Resource website www.seymourduncan.com/resources/pickup/wiring-diagrams If you use non SD pickups, it will be a little tricky to figure out the wiring colour codes. I can try my best to help

@@刘晓东-n9y Thanks! Is it Custom 24 SE? They’re medium jumbo if I recall correctly, that’s about 2.7mm. You can go for 2.8 if you wish to feel the grip while pressing the notes unless you want some ‘feedback’ to sort of know how much you’re pressing the notes on fretboard

Couldn't you just buy a brand new Gio for the cost of a refret job? Unless there's some sentimental value for this particular guitar, doing this makes no sense.

I think cyanoacrylate
looks like CA glue (super glue)
I use CA Glue for most of my refret

In Brazil an Ibanez Gio can cost you more than a minimum wage 💀

Nice fix, its cool to use that crazy glue so it dries fast and ready to get the screw. Using wood glue requires one day or more.
are you shooting all this next to an Airbus reactor ?

I have an LP copy as well (Memphis logo) that has been hotrodded by a buddy of mine. Its amazing how good those old lawsuit era LP copies can sound if you put some work into them

Is it just me, or do the majority of Fenders have maple freboards these days? I have nothing against maple in theory, I even own a Tele with a maple neck--it's just not my preferred aesthetic, and I wish Fender would put out more guitars with dark fretboards.
I'm actually with you on this one! I prefer dark fretboards and that's why I prefer brands such as Schecter or LTD. Their tele are gorgeous and modern.
They sound much better.
I like the darker fretboard wood but don’t like Indian laurel, pau ferro is better but needs to be oiled, very dry.

I have this guitar, same exact one too.… the Ibanez gio GSA60. I also have a white older brother of the gio… the gio GRGA120. Both setup with paradigm Ernie ball strings… stop c tuning with not even slinky paradigms on the grga and the power paradigm strings on my gsa60 tuned to drop d. For some reason the gsa60 sounds so much better than the grga… and the grga sounds incredible how I set it up. Truly both beautiful sounding instruments at hugely low cost. I’m entirely satisfied and content with both of them too. Me next guitar will be an Ibanez s series with fixed bridge and in a few more years… Ibanez S Prestige S6521Q Electric Guitar with Surreal Blue Burst Gloss color.
The current GIO is pretty good already even for seasoned players just by modding a few parts of the guitar! And that Prestige is beautiful, go for it!!
