A masterpiece-it was sorely needed to break the hold of the churches.U would be suprised how many deaths occur around movies. They involved a lot of people tho the manson thing is creepy.
My only critique of SVP is since Spielberg wanted to convey the Germans not as monsters, then there should have been a scene with the German who killed Mellish having a breakdown like Miller did after the death of Wade. Since I can't help but think no one could have killed someone so intimately and not be emotionally moved.
Fun fact: Spielberg invited Stanley Kubrick on the beach scene. He says Kubrick would watch and never utter a word. Also, he never invited Spielberg to the making of Eyes Wide Shut even though they were both filming at the same time 😅
Rosemary’s Baby is very well made and very well acted..but this movie has never taken hold with me. I think it lumbers too much and the overall premise simply doesn’t interest me. I say this as a 49-year old movie buff who enjoys 1960s and 70s intellectual horror like Picnic at Hanging Rock.
The ending was so tactless and tacky - like really sharon and “some people” were murdered - show some respect or don’t talk about it
Paramount did not want to do it and they put all possible obstacles. It later became his most profitable film in years.
who is reading this sounds like a robot. could watch due to poor reader
Beautiful job. True respect for a true classic. John Carpenter's THE THING deserves the same reverence.
I watched this movie on LSD
I'm a fan of Hitchcock from his early days in Britain to his last film, Family Plot. His set pieces are examined in cinema schools. The shower scene, the jungle gym scene in the Birds, etc. For me, there are shots that linger in my mind that Hitchcock filmed. Marion's hand reaching for the shower curtain, camera under Norman's jaw when being questioned by Arbogast. Norman's eye looking at Marion undressing. Haunting shots.
From 70k to 500k? Sounds just like something i would do
great shots.. sinatra was an ahole, much like the gaslighting of Cassavetes character 'Guy' and what a fool, no one een thinks or 'Detective', but Rosemary's Baby is a timeless classic and Farrow did an amazing portrayal
It’s one of my favorite movies, but I can’t listen to this narrator. I’ll also note that there’s no such word as “costed.” The word is cost.
Not "costed". Just "cost".
4:05 can’t call him names since he made the most influential film in all of cinema. Take that Toho
Imagine Marilyn Monroe instead of Janet Lee.😂😂😂
OMG...it sounds like the narrator walked out of a horror movie...please whoever you are don't ever narrate another doc.
President Joe Biden need this to remind and aware about American soldiers sacrifice in war is a heart breaking of very American families.
Great cast great production. Spielberg at his best.
IM GONNA SAY ONE SINGLE THING: SINATRA SUCKS!!!
This is the type movie we could watch for 1 day straight and never get bored of it
I just did today. Watched it four times.
Ira Levin also wrote "The Stepford Wives"
Alfred Hitchcock's largest payday came from the film Psycho. He deferred his salary in exchange for 60% of the movie's profits. This resulted in an estimated $15 million payday, which adjusted for inflation is around $120 million today.
Don't you think we wouldn't know who Steve Forrest is? That's Steve at 3:02, not somebody named James Cavanaugh. Forrest was an actor and brother of actor Dana Andrews. He played Hondo Harrelson on the TV show SWAT. Your credibility is in danger with all of the gaffes you're making.
The real D-Day was suppose to have 30 Sherman tanks float to the beach to take the beach. Using flotation balloons on the tanks was a huge failure. 29 of the 30 tanks sank and drowned their 5 man crews (145 men dead). If those tanks had made the beach Allied casualties would have been greatly reduced by as much as 90%.
Great pronunciation of all words and all correct facts 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
...featured a fully nude woman through out the whole movie.
Saul Bass didn't co-direct shit. It's all Hitch. I'm an old person and was fortunate enough to talk with a number people who worked on the film. BTW: l Want to Live - 1958 - showed a prison toilet. Lois Weber's silent film, The Naked Truth,
The Farrow-Sinatra drama: Mia became depressed and wanted to quit, Polanski showed her rushes and said: "This will win you an Oscar, Mia." She finished the shooting, it was a big box office hit, but she didn't win an Oscar. Worse-- she wasn't even Nominated. Seems to have been an 'administrative mistake'. The biggest Hollywood blooper evah.
The narrator sounds deranged. It’s as if he’s unravelling and will lash out and kill at any moment.
Trust Mr. Spielberg to do the most amazing war film initially of the landing at Normandy and war at its most realistic. To see this film once, I cried all thru it and haven't watched it since. It broke my ❤ to see what young men went through so we could have our freedom. My heat goes out to any veterans past or present who actually endured this horror called war. Thank you Mr.Speilburg for bringing this historical account to life with such accuracy. Everyone needs to see this. Merci
Meh... so-so video. Several mispronounced names, a few incorrect facts, and a photo of Steve Forrest for some reason? I'd suggest a little more research and some vocal coaching for future clips.
20 thousand... about 210 thousand today. 40 thousand... about 418 thousand today. Big money in 1960.
Only stringed instruments were played in the film score
It's Robert Bloch, pronounced "block" not "bloch"
Saul Bass is responsible for most of the genius in the film. Hitchcock branding curtailed any admission of Bass`s contributions. IMDB should amend the listing to include Bass as co-director.
stop. bass got credit for what he did, you don't need him to get credit for what he didn't do.
@@plasticweapon LOL! Hitchcock was wildly derivative and seldom acknowledged contributions of his sources and/or collaborators. Bass, a Jew (do not know if he was Blacklisted) saved `Psycho` from being dumped as a tv film. Bass deserves co-director credit. The director also short-changed his wife Alma Reville. Reville not only is responsible for `the Hitccock signature` but did continuity on the films. She should receive co-producer credit on all films, possibly sole producer credit. Hitchcock made a routine of having the nighlty 6 o`clock meal not so much for anytning but Reville`s prep for the next days shoot. Hitchcock has become a Phallic figure of male ambiguity. Just like Jesus. Sick!
@@sandrashevey8252 speaking of sick, you should really see someone. and janet leigh (as well as bass himself) said saul bass did not co direct.
The story, the characters, the movement of the camera, the composition of the scene, the impact of the action, the humanism, the philosophy, the music, the atmosphere. Everything in Seven Samurai is essential. Is a masterpiece in its more absolute level
Psalm 138 verse 6 For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly, but the haughty he knows from afar.
you would know.
Janet Leigh autographed her book 'The Making of Psycho' for me in NYC in the 80's. L
Fabulous, accomplished film - with an even better score from Williams.
Wasn't William Castle a second rate producer of slock horror movies...13 Ghosts come to mind.
He sure was. And it’s spelled “schlock”.
@@hebneh XXcuse ME!!
I've never heard any educated adult say "costed" 😅 you have a pleasant voice and the editing is decent I'll give you that.
could be chatbot AI
The music added so much to this film and Hitchcock later admitted it. Man, the same guy who did the music for this did the music for Citizen Kane. But really, this is a well done slasher film.
and Taxi Driver
Bernard Herrmann is credited with revolutionizing the scoring of film's. TV credits were Have Gun Will Travel and original Twilight Zone themes. As a child in the sixties, I was thrilled by his music from Mysterious Island and the 7th Voyage of Sinbad. His first film score was for Welles' Citizen Kane. All told, he did over five Hitchcock movies.
Eeeeeentire........eeeeeever.......tooold
What's with the weird accentuations ?
W H A T do you mean?
Robert Bloch--pronounced Block
The speech of the narrator is so slow you must watch speeded up
Excellent film
I have only seen it OVER 60 times!
The Fact that the corpse of Miss Bates is better than any of todays Movies!
To be honest - the film was better than Ira Levin's novel. Sad but true.
Oh, I think they’re equally brilliant. Love Ira Levin.
