Long landing (by design) at Huntsville's Three Six Left - more than 12,000 feet (2 1/4 miles). The purpose of landing long is to reduce the time and wear/tear of taxiing. Wind was a bit gusty and you'll see the shadow of the plane rocking back and forth a bit.

If you've ever wondered how pilots prefer to clean their planes... 😃 From a recent flight out of the Atlanta area back home to Huntsville, flying IFR in and out of small cumulus clouds that were starting to build in early afternoon.
Atlanta Speedway Pattern

Flying into KHMP (Hampton, GA) right next to the Atlanta Speedway. I mean, right next to! Had to do a bit of S-turns to get appropriate spacing in a very busy pattern on my way to visiting Atlanta Center (ARTCC), which I overfly about 20 seconds into this sped-up clip. Shout-out to all my controller friends - you do a great job keeping us safe!

Shot at 120 fps, this landing at Fayetteville, TN (KYFM) is slowed down to enjoy every relaxing moment from final approach to touchdown. (No birds were harmed in the filming of this video.) Between Layers

Quick flight from #Huntsville, AL to Fayetteville, TN between layers of clouds. One of my favorite things is to #fly between layers of clouds. ⛅ Not really sure why - maybe because it's a very different perspective, or you get a better sensation of speed, or maybe because the clouds over the ground below make great scenery while the clouds overhead keep temperature down in the cockpit. Possibly...

excellent video, thanks for sharing it!
i like your videos but this fish eye lense is ridicilous . want a puke
Where is the Citation???
Starts around 3:39; very brief clip of Citation departing as I'm taxiing.
very nice, when im older i wish to get a plane, but sadly its just too expensive
Will you please share the cost of installation and time-frame involved? Thanks.
If only all instrument approaches could be that simple. Just a think layer of clouds and clear below...
The 180 Hp and equipped with nice avionics makes a difference
I’ve got a few hours in a Grumman Tiger and I love it and love IFR flying
I still can’t figure out how you are getting those shots.
GoPro MAX with Flight Flix mount. Or magic. 🙂
Been there many times. Tricky in a cross wind. I solved that landing long. Works! Dangerous on hot days if ya neglect density altitude when leaving. Nothing as nice. Great vid. Terry. KFFZ PP2
This was a fun landing. Due to outbound traffic, I had to delay my descent and ended up slipping like mad to get down to pattern altitude in time.
Oh Yeah, I remember doing that.
BUTTER!!!
Wish I could say that all of my landings were like that... 😳
On my bucket list to fly and land there! Lovely vid!
Definitely worth the trip!
Looked like a very "flat" approach.......far less than 3 degs. Not that a steeper glide path would help one much in that terrain with an engine failure/problem.
I agree it looks flat but appearances can be deceiving, especially due to camera angle and 360 lens distortion. It was a standard 3-deg approach; I was using the GPS RWY 3 as reference with advisory vertical guidance on my Aspen PFD. Just checked CloudAhoy debrief and it confirms that I was right on glideslope - 3 degrees.
Damn rugged terrain! Engine don't die... Engine don't die... Engine don't die!!!!!
Really enjoying watching this. Would be cool if you could bring us into the cockpit someday.
I've got some mounts for that - I'll have to do an interior one soon, with ATC audio maybe...
@@GrummanTiger1 that would be awesome!
I also have (part owner) a 1978 AA-5B, but she's not as pretty as yours!
Can you show or describe your mount. I just bought a max GoPro and love this perspective.
Sure, Scott. It's an nFlightCam Exterior Ball-Mount. www.nflightcam.com/collections/frontpage/products/nflightcam-ball-head-exterior-mount
Great artistic video. Turned it up on my Bose system. Nice.
Sweet
Like that highly swept wing Grumman! Then forward view forward sweep. Thought the F14 was their last sweep wing. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will that AOPA Tiger.
It's the X-29 version of the Tiger... 😃
@@GrummanTiger1 , highly classified I’m sure!
I know you have been getting at least 1 like
Wow! I’d love to know your setup to get this video? Please let me know. I’ve got a Tiger and would love to try this! How did you get the cameras in the plane? Here are a couple videos on my channel, “Life Elevated” ruclips.net/channel/UCc6mGlKLLLKhZE8YCGs95tg
Nice wheelie!
Gotta baby that nosewheel... 😁
Perfect landing. 🙂
Flying 1 of my favorite tiger's
Great video. What day did you make the flight? Looks recent
Thanks. I flew the morning of Tuesday, 8 Mar 2022.
Would've been fun to see your speed and rate of climb during this or at some of the periods. Nice vid man 👍
Good idea - thank you!
Beautiful Tiger!
Thank you very much!
Very nice, the background appeals to my German roots. Like the effect with the camera. Gonna tell folks about you in one of my videos coming up. I subscribe BTW, again, nicely done.
Thank you - that's very kind.
So I gonna blame you for showing me this camera, of course I had to buy one.
@@GrummanTiger1 Did the camera wrap from 360 to linear and back or did you do that is post? What editor?
@@GrummanPilots The camera just records the 360 video - all of the viewpoints and transitions are done in editing. I use the GoPro Player editor for the transitions, then take that exported file and do final editing including adding soundtrack in Filmora Pro.
Nice! I own and fly a 77 AA-5B Tiger... so, I can relate. And, I have to admit, this video was rather cool!
I was there
What do you use to mount the GoPros to the canopy and wing?
Good
Went to the website and bought it. Gave them the Grumman code and got a discount. Thanks!
Awesome! I need one!
If you enjoyed the music, go check out wintergatan.net.
Nice view of 8A1..nice looking Tiger too..I've not been to 8A1 in a while, I hear they made improvements..
Thanks! I'm not sure about improvements since I've only been flying there for a few months but it is a nice airport and probably the best looking (most scenic) final approach in the area.
Dayum! That seems a long runway....where is that?
That's actually the "short" runway at Huntsville - One Eight Left. Only 10k feet versus 18R's 12.6k. 🙂
Very cool, you got some great shots of the low clouds in the valleys. I gotta look into using that TimeWarp setting with the GoPro.
Less music volume would allow better comprehension of ATC comms.
Nice video and nice looking plane. It's a shame that you had so many empty seats for this flight. Fly-in breakfasts are a great way to introduce general aviation to others....especially the next generation of GA pilots.
Nice smooth landing at the end there
Thanks! It helps when the wind is dead calm... 🙂
Awesome vid Gary- man I miss that tiger!
Thanks Chuck! But you can't have her back. 😉
