That's great to hear. I hope the video proves to be useful. It is a fun course and atmosphere and you get to see a lot. I would say it is a good choice. My only suggestion would be that you make sure you are used to running on trails as lots of this is quite rough under foot. It adds up and will sap energy at a higher rate - familiarity and strength in the joints will help. Another reflection was that the final few miles felt harder than other races because you're running across fields - only a little harder but this is when your energy levels will be low. So pacing and conserving a bit more energy than you normally would will help you to finish strong in the final stages - I was struggling.

It's a nice run and a varied run (well, as you can see!). You might do well to be a bit tactical and calculating on as you cross the little bridge and enter the woods on your final lap - it's always tight but this is where you'll meet people on their second lap, so it either gets slow or dicey! Yes... I was trying to think of it as charitably as possible. People walking, absent minded... Yet I still can't see how passing through a race wouldn't make you think twice!

I used to run through a local forest. It was ideal, about 9km and beautiful. Had to give it up as I got attacked by dogs off leads. Sometimes the owners would blame me because ' my legs were moving ' !

@@mysay70 that's awful! A terrible thing to go through in many ways! Does actually bring back flashbacks for me too! People get defensive in a bind (though I'm sure some really would think that the runner was the problem). First principles 'are you in control of your dog as a responsible owner? If you can't control your dog, it shouldn't be off a lead in public'.

Thank you for the kind words. Great question. If I was going full on, I think I would be a little angry with myself. The really dispiriting thing for me is when I am pushing to my maximum effort and then someone with a pushchair overtakes me! Such a sinking feeling!

Thank you for the kind words. On the breathing, I have tried to change my approach but, now you mention it, I forgot about the nose! I was concentrating on reducing the frequency and deepening the draw. I'll bear that in mind.
