Yea it definitely sounds like a thingy from France.
This sounds like more of a Halloween thing but it absolutely could be played in France. If you want a more stereotypically French thing, you could add accordion and make it sound romantic. Edit: Can't tell if you're French or not

Cool! I usually only attempt acapella hymns. I’m not great with it, so I’m too afraid to try anything that sounds “classical”.
Noice! As a general rule, we don’t usually play the 3rd’s that low in the bass. Something to do with too many resonant overtones probably.
