How many stitches do you cast on to make a large blanket to get 24 triangles
CO 240 for the large (or 180 for the small) Dimensions and materials can be found here: www.atyarnslength.com/summer-stitch-sampler-afghan-knit-along/ If you want to do all Entrelac, you can find the info in Week 12.
@@AtYarnsLength thank you . Have a very blessed day
Thank you so much ❤❤❤ Can you please do a video showing how to do a few rows of this in a row??
I’ve been trying to work mine for the longest time and it ever makes a cord it just gets jammed
What yarn weight? And you have the clothespin-looking weight on? If you're good in both cases, you may want to be sure your hooks aren't bent.
I have used used this in past...but this is a great update for me- never thought about using this for cakes and deliberately going slow . also this is great way to use up stash!
Thank you! Very clear explanation and demo, makes me want to grab some yarn and try it!
Thank you! It's my favorite way to use thin yarns since I don't like making socks :)
So pretty!
They are out again right now! :)
Just got one of these. What could I be doing wrong? It keeps dropping stitches. I have tried many times.
If the yarn is too fine or too thick, it won’t work properly. You also have to use the weight or the stitches draw up. What are you using?
@@AtYarnsLength I have the weight on. I’m using lions brand mandala yarn.
That yarn should work. Are you sure you loaded it properly? Also, how fast are you cranking?
I’m not going very fast. Yes it’s loaded right.
Mine keeps jamming
Thank you - v difficult to find such a good explanation of these stitches
oh now I want to make an order
I’ve made many twin size afghans for winter. Very warm!
What a great idea. Thank you.
Perfect instructions, tips and visuals! Everything I need to enjoy this pattern and design with the proper colors! Thank you! I'm making a baby blanket.
Thank you, Doreen!
Hobbii has these boxes on sale for $60 today so I watched your video to see if it was with it. How were the patterns? Ok for a beginner?
Good tip! I’ll share that sale. The patterns were good (except the socks, which I don’t like to make 😉) and I think an advanced beginner would be fine.
@@AtYarnsLength Thanks for the quick reply. The sale is $59 USD for those who participated in the bingo today - so limited time - 48 hrs)
@@Rosie906 I played bingo today, too! I never even get one row 😅
@@AtYarnsLength Same! Maybe one year! 😂
@@Rosie906 Maybe today :)
I use the term Leading Leg so regardless which way the leg presents, left/right or front/back, knit into the leading leg.. I find this term less confusing.
Yes! You can use "leading leg" instead of "right leg" when describing a stitch leg, too.
@@AtYarnsLength given that I have left and the other left in my old brain leading leg works
is there a way to make a final tier but for it to be right-leaning?
Unfortunately no, not like this. It was designed to be used after Tier 1 as Tier 1 is comprised of triangles on the ends and rectangles in the center. It would have to be redesigned completely to work with Tier 2, which is all rectangles 🙁
@@AtYarnsLength ok
Mine came. You obviously got the jackpot. Mine came today with 1 gray and 1 white small skeins. And 3 larger skeins of light blue variegated. I’m a little disappointed. Especially seeing what could have come in the sack. Not worth $25.
Ugh! I’m sorry to hear that, Debbie 😞
I just got to this pattern in the summer knit along. I’m thinking of going up to a size 9 needle for this section, compared to size 8s for everything else. Will that keep it a consistent width, do you think? Curious what you did for this section of the afghan. Thanks!
I think it’s a good idea. Lots of folks in the KAL had trouble with tension on this stitch. The nature of it makes it hard to work evenly with garter- or stockinette-based stitch patterns. Many folks saw their blankets cinch in a bit here as a result 😅 Please let me know how it goes!
On the written instructions it says to end with a p2, is that wrong?
Each repeat (in *s) ends with a p2. Once all the repeats are completed, there is an additional p2 to finish the row. p2 + p2 = p4 :) "Ending final repeat with a p4" is another way to say that.
I'm excited to get started on this project! In watching your video, it seems that you sometimes knit into the back and other times into the front of the stitch. Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or is there a reason to do it one way vs the other? Thanks!
Hi Phebe! I'm happy to help! I actually have a knit along happening now (I'll link it below); this one has concluded. Your eyes aren't deceiving you. Most likely it's because I'm a combination knitter, which means that sometimes I wrap my purls "backwards." This means my stitches are seated facing a different way, so I knit into them differently on the next row. (This sometimes also happens when you tink a row and pick the stitches up facing different ways.) Just knit the way you knit and you'll be fine :) Here's the link to the current KAL: www.atyarnslength.com/winter-stitch-sampler-knit-along/ Week 2 just went live this morning, so you have plenty of time to join in!
@@AtYarnsLength thank you! I saw your winter sampler on Ravelry first, but then I found this one and loved the look of it, so I'll start with this one and catch up on the winter sampler next :) Do you recommend the small or large version? I'd love to tackle the large but don't want to get too overwhelmed
@@PhebeKemmer There are some other stitches down the line that are a bit complex and time-consuming, but if you are determined, go for the large size!
Thanks!! Such a great way of unboxing this. I was curious too. Lovely yarn. Thanks for sharing with us.
You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Oh, love it! I think I will give them a try!
You should! I'd love to hear how it goes.
I love you so much miss
Thank you, Shelley 🥰
Thank you for this
You’re welcome, Ruby!
Thank you for doing an unboxing! I was so curious what the knitting box had (box 2 is completely different project in crochet) I do love that they kept the patterns a secret until the day it’s supposed to be opened 😅
Yes! It’s a good balance. I couldn’t wait to open them all, but not knowing what the pattern is keeps some of it secret at least 🙂
That was a great video! Thank you so much❤️
Thank you!
Thank you for showing :D I love the Lucky bags from Hobbii. Just a little sad you got 2 of the same ones. Better luck next time :D
I liked them, too. I think I’ll just add one each time I order from now on!
The yarn and notions are the same in the crochet boxes
Thanks, Debi! Do you have any guesses about the patterns?
Your unboxing was the best I've seen so far! Love the fact that you put the Hobbii prices with it. A lot of others are stating it wasn't worth the cost, I don't think I agree.
Thank you! There’s definitely a discount with the calendar (versus buying all of these items separately).
👍 I would want printed patterns included in each box and the boxes to be full when I opened them. 😸
That’s not a bad idea. I guess holding back the pattern prevents spoilers (like me) from spoiling too much too early, but a hard copy of the patterns would be nice!
My first 2 boxes came out different than yours. Not sure how that's going to work with the patterns they give
Oh, now that is interesting! Do you mind sharing what you received? Was it similar?
I will let you know exactly when I get home. I know the first box came with 5 mini skeins of cotton and the same bag as yours and also the black string. I can't remember what was in the second box
My second box came with ribbon yarn, flash it yarn, a round wooden base, a hook, some hand made cotton labels and some straps and the postcards
@@BrokenKat1 Your boxes might be the crochet edition rather than the knitting?
Now I feel dumb lol I missed that yours was for knitting 🤦
That unboxing was great. Than you because I was so curious and nobody shows this advent calendar as nice as you
Thanks, Kamila! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I can't tell you how silly I felt when I discovered the yarn didn't have a smell and it was actually the hearts in box #4 all along!😂
@@AtYarnsLength you don't have to feel silly. I saw unboxing of this calendar erlier and I didn't notice that it have to give nice smell. How silly is that? You are natural I love it

Hi Holly thanks you so much for the information stay safe 😊 ☺ 🙂
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
I use the term leading leg, that which presents first on the needle, to take away the confusion of front/back or left/right. I knit into the leading leg regardless whether it is front/back or left/right.

Newbie #374 🎉🎉🎉. HI Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year 🎉🎉
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, too!
We just got our first fiber animals this year. Two alpacas and an Angora. Can't wait to start going to these events.
I'm so envious! Fiber animals are on my dream list :)
Very cool! I live in the southwest, but I'm from the northeast and miss these kinds of events!
They are amazing!
I have a question, does it matter what size needle or pattern your doing when it comes to using the life line? I used a life line for my shawl pattern which is pretty simple, 6 rows of K and the 7th row is k,k,k,yo,k2tog, repeat the YO and k2tog until the last 3 stitches which are k,k,k. I place the life line on the 6th row before the YO row and continued this method for 30". I messed up and had to rip out the YO section. I got my needle back in but when I went to restitch, the stitching did not look like the rest of the pattern. When it was all said and done I ended up ripping out the whole project. Now I am hesitant using the life line method. Can you give any advice?
My needle size is 17 circular needle...yarn is thick and quick acrylic.
The needle size doesn't matter, but the lifeline should be small so as not to affect gauge. If you picked up the stitches in different ways (front to back/back to front), you may have found it was wonky when you worked the next row because the stitches would come out twisted. I have a video called Front Leg, Back Leg that explains why this happens and how to fix it.
Nice stitching
Thanks!
