    I need help. We did everything right, but our whole pole rotates instead of only the trays rotating around. So the wheels aren't engaged and causing the trays to stop in the right place. Any suggestions?

    I installed and the bottom of the left side of the cabinet door rubs the bottom of the cabinet opening on the right side when rotating. Any suggestions to adjust it? The door needs to be raised up about 1/8 inch.

    Many people have a granite counter top and if you are installing this after everything is in place, here is a tip. Cut a 2 inch by two inch by 3/4 chunk of pine and mount the top plate centred on it. Install rev a shelf base and second shelf as described. Add a glob of crazy glue (CA glue) to the top of the pine block. Make sure things rotate then lift the block up by the smaller chrome post that rides inside the bigger one. Lift it up to your granite and hold it in place for 30 seconds while the glue drys.

      @@lampsoncabinets Yes, it's important to spread the word of my experience so others can make personal decisions. I finally got it installed, and after only a few months, the top shelf is already developing cracks. I don't put heavy items on it. Spices and the like. The heaviest probably being peanut butter. This is not a good quality shelf.

    The project came out looking nice. Just one question or a tip for the future, with all of the pocket holes you used, why not assemble the box itself with them? With plywood especially, a pocket screw joint is considerably stronger than a joint with the screw going into the edge (end grain) of the piece. The screw is much more likely to pull out or split out the side.

    amazing work from a very nice young man. It makes me feel so good to see that there are still young people who want to make things, build, and do things the "old fashioned" way! I loved this build!

  • @Deanriley

    These are pretty good instructions. I was replacing a broken one, and the old mounts/holes didn’t work for this brand. The first shelf wasn’t too hard since I could remove the shaft, slide the shelf on, then put it in. The upper shelf is trickier. I had to take the pole out put both shelves in, remove the top post, then feed through, tilting to put the top post/shaft back in. It’s a pain, but doable.These will not hold a lot of heavy weight, so think twice about glass bottles of oils, etc., or heavy pans-that was what led to my old, much sturdier lazy susan top shelf breaking. All that said, it took me about two hours total-I’m no youngster so had to take rest breaks. Note: sort your screws carefully first: long for bottom, and two for the metal pieces the pole goes through.

    This was well done. Despite my best and continuing efforts, when I build with mitred corners, I invariably end up with a bit of a gap on the outside of the mitred corner, usually on one or two corners. I see the same sort of gap in your video at 3:45, thanks to the superb filming you have done. That has disappeared in the final product. How do you mitigate or eliminate or hide that gap ? Godspeed to your brother in the Navy !!

    • @jacobsmith8143
      @jacobsmith8143 7 лет назад

      Steven Castelletti Yes you could certainly use a Kreg jig throughout the project. You'd have to plug and/or fill the holes after everything's been assembled.

      I made a Hope Chest for my Wife back in April for our Anniversary, it was my first attempt, had never built anything like this before, but it came out so well, even if I say so myself lol To answer your question, yes, Kreg system worked very well for me - I set the front, back and two sides on top of the bottom panel and used Kreg screws to hold them in place by drilling holes on the lower edges on the Outside - there are no visible screws on the inside. I covered the holes along the outside bottom edges with a “Base moulding” that I made from a 2x4 with a routed design. I attached The moulding with Kreg screws that come up from under the chest and out through the front - into the back of the moulding.... Though I guess you could use a pneumatic nail gun and fill the nail holes.... Again, no screws visible unless you turn the chest upside down ;-
