That canny local could have been me. Used to live in Birchington and loved fishing this area growing up, haven't been able to get down there for years. Great area for Bass between reculver and Minnis and of course a bike is the quickest way to access that from the car park.

Iv fished elmer a few time with some nice bass coming out from fishing on the rocks but it's best to fish the 2nd set of rocks on the right as they are the highest . Fishing from the beach to the rocks over a night tide we found small bass eels and pout , We was having a bite a chuck good fishing . But please only fish the rocks on small tides

They charge you £3 to fish the arm and an extra £1 per rod, absolute joke charging you to fish in the sea, and what's different to before. Just a few bins, it was still full up with crap. Don't waste your time

Nice fishing platform and the chaps that run the place are helpful and keep it clean, however, I object to being charged a full day ticket for my nephew who is 5 to fish for 2 hours. I know the difference between a day ticket to fish and an ea rod licence, but the ea don't even require him to have a rod licence yet, but he is charged a full ticket here the same as a man who is fishing for 24 hours. Common sense says thats clearly wrong.

Worth trying sandeel on a Pennell rig, in addition to the usual lug, squid and crab. Plenty of doggies - tend to find your baits first. Very strong current/drift - towards the jetty on the rising tide and then reverses and plenty of drifting weed to pick up your line and move your rig. Found a 6 oz breakaway wouldn't hold for long. Can be frustrating, but plenty of bites.

I was down at Cuckmere Inn lastr week and looking into the river saw shoals of rather large fish either spawning or hunting for stuff in the mud around low tide. Are these mullet or seabass? Basically, should I go back there with my rod and try to catch them for dinner?

I did a spot of luer fishing in peacehaven. Sea was good and coloured, but didn't get a bite.

not sure if its an unwritten rule but many fishermen tend to go west of Salts rec/Dane Road as a few swimmers have caught hooks nearer to Martello and I always hear the moans, so have decided not to risk it and go where theres fewer people. Having said that, the mackeral were on from late September only this year. Not a lot happening (for me anyway). I blame the French.

The pier will be open at the start of next year perfect timing tbh considering its known as dab central.

Fished from a kayak here today (27.09.14). Plenty of mackerel, a red gurnard, a good sized place, and nice sized bass...best of all, saw a huge loggerhead turtle. What a great day!

Hythe is easily the best place to fishing the winter around the Kent area In my opinion but only at high tide.

I fished at the fort caught nothing but people nearby caught a nice sized thick lipped grey mullet

There is also good fishing to be had towards the sailing club, past the Kingshall. It's inbetween Herne Bay pier and Bishopstone Glen.

I live in Seaford and have fished there for many years, there is a deeper channel opposite the start of the Salts park and the retirement home. In this deeper channel there is an abundance of Mackerel and 15+ Mackerel can be expected to be caught in the hour and a half leading up to high tide. Frequently the Mackerel come in very close and can be seen to be jumping out of the sea all along the shore travelling in either direction.

This is a great service you provide. Very in depth, great detail. At 1.35mins in, is exactly where I am going to go fish off the shore. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

My friend caught a ray at wothing pier but haven't seen it since and do you no of any free places to fish whilst the tide is out

i went 2 weeks ago caught 30 mackerel not bad considering it wasn't the best of days to go.

Bexhill is great for beach fishing. More or less all of the beach is very similar so it doesn't matter really where you go. I tend to go a bit further west by the Clock Tower. Also I've had some good luck further east under the cliffs. Also the Council didn't try to ban beach fishing. They proposed that for a small area of busy beach right in the middle of the town that no fishing should be allowed during daytime hours over the summer. Both of the spots you mention would have been fine as they are outside the small area. The local anglers made a fuss and the resulting conversation with the Council led to our Beach Fishing Festival which has been going for two years and the proposed ban didn't happen either. Good news for everyone!

Walmer castle is the best spot I have found but been out of sea fishing for about 5 years concentrating on fresh water, but walmer used to be great for plenty of doggys . Am going tomorrow so is I remember I will post my results

If I was kayak fishing opposite King Alfred's Leisure centre, would you say that Lure fishing for Bass here would be a good option? I fancy giving my new MegaBass Zonk a whirl!

cant wait to get back from this deployment so i can fish there!! i've been wanting to do so for about a year. i longboard there whenever i visit my girlfriend. i don't recall seeing the pier as crowded as in the video! for those that live in the Dover area, where do you usually get your fishing supplies?

I live local and find the fishing off the jetty produces some nice bass. As long as you go late as it gets busy up until 10-11 pm.
