I was a stay at Home mom with no money in my IRA or any savings of my own, which was scary at 53 years of age. Three years ago I got a part time job and save everything I make. After 3 years, I am 56 yo and have put $9,000 in an IRA and $40,000 in my portfolio with CFA, Evelyn Infurna. Since the goal of getting a job was to invest for retirement and NOT up my lifestyle, I was able to scale this quickly to $150,000. If I can do this in a year, anyone can.

Thank you for sharing! I have had a very similar career progression within the investment firm I'm with in 5.5 years, and I'm always excited to watch these interviews and learn from others. This one hit close to home as I can see my own career progression in her story. I also enjoyed hearing more of her admin/paraplanner role. So many podcasts highlight the financial advisors, and though extremely valuable, it's so valuable to promote and highlight those who are in supporting roles as well. There are also not enough books in the financial services support or leadership roles. It takes everyone in every role working in alignment to see results.

Brilliant episode! It's great how it's just a natural conversation rather than a boring question and answer session. I also agree that admin to para planning to advising isn't always the best option. Great Paraplanners are like gold dust and a lot of employers will be hesitant to let them move up to advice- giving them the hassle of trying to replace the PP.

Get your qualifications and it opens lots of doors. It’s neither easy nor hard, the industry is competitive but very rewarding. It’s an industry where your level of work will control your destiny. It’s not 9 to 5 but that’s what makes it’s so interesting. I have been in the industry over 15 years also for a bit of background. To the point regarding retiring practices. 1) Why would Financial planners NOT train staff up to ensure a successful exit? 2) Surely if more leaving than replenishment, the price they ask to purchase said clients, will decrease drastically? (They are creating a problem which will hurt them)

Yes, you might say that but More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire without any investment. Retirement becomes truly fulfilling when you possess two essential elements: financial resources and a meaningful purpose in life. Make prudent investment choices to secure good returns and ensure a comfortable retirement and that is where Cynthia Mcclure Alexander will be useful.
