Songs at the Center is a weekly TV series that celebrates The Song. The Songwriter. And Their Stories. We feature Songwriting Royalty, as well as other lesser-known artists you’ll want to get to know better. The show is video captured at the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center (MAC) of Worthington, Ohio, and other select venues. Hosted and co-produced by award-winning songwriter and Emmy-nominated producer Eric Gnezda. Executive Producer, Jack FitzGerald, is joined by Andy Herron, and Alan Beavers of Alba Productions as producers. The show airs Saturdays, 11 p.m. in Columbus. For national air times, check local listings.

All to often women in power protect the social-economic group from which they came
I'd like to point out there are countries in the world where women are in charge and those countries' problems didn't magically go away the day they took office.
I was raised by my mother and an older sister after my father passed when I was 10 years old. I saw her do some amazing things for us and I fully agree that we need to put women in charge.

Why? This is the problem with so many women. Rather than look at policies or competency you go straight to gender as the sole reason for your vote. It is so childish. And don't now start saying she has better policies too for if that was the case you would never have mentioned her gender as a reason for voting her in. I might add that countless women have held positions of great power throughout history and to this present day and the facts show women are no more moral and no less susceptible to corruption than men. This song is ridiculous and I say that as a fan of Beth. It's pandering and cringeworthy and above all simply untrue.

=John Schwab was part of McGuffey Lane a Columbus OH band in the 70s that never quite made it big but entertained us all on college campus (including Ohio Wesleyan) and Zacharia's RedEye Saloon. Very nostalgic, and one of several great songs ML performed. Cheers

"Ain't that some shit" for thse of you who think that swearing isn't appropriate in a song. It's a personal song, an expression of personal experience and it needs to be honest, so swearing is good when it's done within context.
I completely agree. You write and sing the words that you are personally feeling, for someone else to edit or silence you afterwards, to try and shame your pain into being more palatable for consumers…seems like such a violation

I met Marshall at some place in Atlanta, a smaller venue, can't remember what it's called, but opening for John Prine, man it was just her and her guitar, harmonica I believe, her boots, and I think they had rattle on them, oh and her hat, I recall it was a western variety, She put on a show for 45 minute or close to an hour, not once was there a lull in her act, it was every minute being entertained, then bought her cassette tape at a met N greet, yep, that's how long ago it was. Dirty Linin, she signed it, still got it and been a huge fan ever since, maybe early 80s. You rock Lady !!!
What a truly great performance! I remember seeing Tommy Womack perform this during a Todd Snider show in Santa Cruz. It was so stellar then I made sure I bought the album there I set it which ended up in my CD player for like 6 months. Will Kimbrough opened and I also really enjoyed his CD. This song truly is one of my all-time favorite
