Blessed are these types of videos XD
The sound of the Cat V8's ruined by silly music
If they were Caterpillars you would not have heard V8’s as Severn class were fitted with V12’s or MTU’s. I think you will find Albert Brown is fitted with MTU’s.
beautiful
Story sad cumulonimbus clouds
Ya by all means , either tie down the main or cut it loose , put out a sliver of jib and sail for a port. ( unless rudder was gone ) And having a Drogue would have helped and made it very manageable People get scared and in fear cannot think clearly to know what is a proper decision at the moment That vessel is very capable of 60-70 knot winds and up to 20ft seas fairly safe.
Had he lost his rudder?
Dificult to get the mainsail, with strong wind, aboard, all the rest not mayor problem, the boat is clear could cope with that rough sea. just that de mainsail is in the water, the engine could be affected.
Da ist nur noch leicht r Wind zu sehen
That is because the Hurricane force winds ceased in the early hours of the morning. The sea state is the aftermath some hours after the worst wind.
The yacht in reasonably good condition. Very good action of Norwegian Star, it declares the bonding between a sailor and a sailor in distress. A law of the sea in itself. Bravo Norwegian!
The song choice is certainly very fitting lol
Great video,keep it up!
Seule la peur semble être le problème. Dommage!! Pour ma part cela me semble un temps idéal pour convoyer une unité de ce genre.
Good footage. Boat is ok. Anything wrong with the crew?
I don’t believe these people are sailors They’re a Bunch of idiot on board They should’ve prepared them self with experience before hit open sea. Not good jerks and abuse that vessel with no knowledge of sailing in high seas.
Cut the main sail and increase size of the genoa. Not enough speed to be comfortable. Or heave to and wait.
не понял о чём кино . шквала нет . чел у тузика трётся наверно хочет спастись . грот на палубу не хочет убираться .)))
It,s a Malö, well design quality yacht built to endure this kin of weather, but you must prepare yourself and the yacht for the the expected wind and waves.
That’s the patrol boat, not the pilot.
why to abadon ship for just a sail broken wtf!!!!
we can get lost in the melbourne to sydney of the storm.you choose who who you sail with. I trust my ?
Look like his main halyard line broke and his main sail was adrift seems like it would be a easy fix however I do not have all the information as to what was going on just what I could see and I'm glad to have several different halyer lines myself in case sister to ation happens
Looks like a hallberg rassy,in which case it's an in mast furling main so maybe not an easy fix probably should have just cut it away
We were there in Greece when this storm came through. All yachtsmen were advised to seek shelter ASAP due to the strength of the impending conditions. We did exactly that. And yet saw 4 yachts sunk in Epidavros harbour. Such were the conditions at the time. Having experienced 65k gusting winds and big seas such conditions can be very difficult. Back in Feb this year, again we experienced 45 knot winds and 4-6m seas, it wasn’t pleasant, could have been dangerous but we were safe. It’s all about the boat (systems working and the crews ability). Who really knows in this instance precisely what the situation was beyond what you can see.
Hello David, you followed the advice which was well advised. I can't comment further than what we were told by the ships Captain and my own footage. Having my own boat I know the debiltating effects being tired and having had a battering can do. While the footage does not look desperate (although the camera at the height we were hugley underplays the size of the seas) who knows what this giuy had been through in the preceding 12 hours. My overriding hope is that he was reunited with his yacht.
@@pks1702 Hi, I know what you mean. We headed the advice given to all sailors at the marina (Alimos) given we were on a charter yacht. We had gone out for a couple of days and then returned until the conditions improved. It was definitely the right decision given how bad the conditions became. I understand completely what you are saying re this boat and for sure who knows what the skipper had been through. It would have been tough, just the conditions alone, let alone then when he had all those issues with his boat. I understand and know exactly what you mean about filming conditions at sea and so often they just don't look remotely anywhere as bad as they do when on the boat. The main thing is the skipper was rescued and hence safe. Its only a boat in the end, they can be replaced. If he could have been re-united with his boat, so much the better.
Sea state not that bad, I can see storm jib, so unless he was incapacitated why abandon a seaworthy boat?
Ray this was the morning after the Hurricane. The yacht was not in a state to be abandoned for sure but who knows what the owner had been through. He evidently called Mayday (I assume at the height of the Hurricane) and under Greek Maritime law (I am told) once made you cannot recsined a Mayday. I hope the owner manged to be re united with his Yacht.
No storm jib, just a heavily furled genoa. Mainsail attached to boom but otherwise blowing free. Bimini fully deployed, sprayhood not folded down. It looks as if the skipper took no preparations for the storm. In extremis he could have just cut the main free, maybe attached a warp and streamed as a drogue. I’ve made mistakes enough, but this seems like an object lesson of unpreparedness. It also shows that the Med is not to be underestimated.
че за мудак? я на такой волне на 3 метровой резинке гоняю. тут и руль вроде целый и стаксель на месте.
Can't have been that bad BBQ and tender still there.
I think you will find on closer inspectipm the BBQ is an outboard on a bracket. The Tender is a Liferaft, as all who have done sea surviaval know it is an absolute last resort to use the Life Raft.
Abandon his boat?! Why?? Unless he was mentally unable to continue, I see no reason. The worst was over. Sad
There is not much description here was that just the mainsl knackered or had he lost engine and rudder the jib sails looked fine. If you got no rudder no engine no sails then it's time to think about abandon ship but if you still got one of the three I think you can come up with something to save your boat
Bob as my video shows we had Hurricane force winds overnight which had dropped quickly to 40-45 knots by the time we arrived on the scene. The Yachts mainsail appeared to have blown out of its track and the Furling Genoa appeared jammed, the yachatsman tried numerous times to free it without success from what we could see. According to the Cruise Ship Captain the Yacht had sent out a Mayday distress call which was picked up by the Greek Coastguard, when that was I don't know but it may have been when the seas were much worse. What the Captain told me privatly was once the Greek Coast Guard react to a Mayday they then take control not the yachts master. If he wanted to stand down the Mayday once it is acted upon by the Coast Guard there is no turning back. Having done a fair bit of Yacting myself I know a Mayday should only be called in if there is an immediate danger to life, what went on before we arrived on scene I don't know. Winds at over 80 knots would not have been a pleasant place to be but certainly uncomfortable; did the Yachtsman feel there was an immediate danger to his life - only he knows. It would be a great end to the story if he had been able to be reunited with his Yacht but sadly I know no more.
@@pks1702 Nice job on the footage. It would have been interesting to know how it all turned out but such is life.
@@friarfox Yes it certainly would be good to know if sailoer and Yacht were reunited.
Abandon Yacht? Never !! be prepared, where was the drift shute? where was head sail to keep on track? So sad. where is boat now?
Abandon yacht , never, Idiot.
Right.?. Get that main sail squared away at least. They look like they're fine just blew a halyard maybe
Riding parallel to the waves with no sail up probably feels like youre gonna die..
That's what I'm saying it look like his main sail halyard broke and he should just use another one
Just heard, both are OK, man and boat!! Thank god!
That is sad that the captain had to abandon his or her ship. Thanks for posting this video and bravo, Norwegian Star! What a brave crew on the Wild Goose!
Actually, it's quite large. A mini tornado is 5 meters wide, or less.
I think theres possible death to be by a window during a tornado
chair: like a boss
get away from the freakin windows
shit !!! we in germany would call this the end of the world... Ô.ô
are you sure thts a tornado or a hurricaine?
I agree that it looked more like a set of microbursts.
mini ?
@Gabbielikescheese Actually it was a pretty small tornado if it was bigger the tree wudve fell down
how is that mini thats pretty big not really big compared to the kansas tornado but still...
EF-2
that was no mini tornado... to me with damage like that i say it was some where around EF-1 to EF-2 tornado
@GOODY61 In a wet microburst, the winds generally shoot out rapidly in every direction. If you see a video of one hitting the ground from a distance, it looks like a giant basketball filled with water. To me, it looked more like a wet microburst than a tornado, actually a series of wet microbursts.
One thing for you guys: You can't be near windows when there's a tornado because the windows will break and you could've been torn to shreads on the spot.
What's up with all these foreigners in all these tornado vids. Moron standing by the window...

GET AWAY FROM THE FRIGGEN WINDOWS!!!!!
MINI MY ASS!!! We had one in Philadelphia like that (i cried because i thought it was the last day) But it stopped and the streets were flooded to my waist. (I'm 4'9 and i am not a midget but only a 11 yr old boy). That was the first time i'd ever prayed and cried at the same time lol. I was expecting a tsunami.
