The Monster Hunter Crossover We Need!
The Monster Hunter series has never been a stranger to weird crossovers. Final Fantasy, The Witcher, and even Metal Gear Solid. So, why not one of Japan's most beloved monster raising game series? No, not that one...or the other one. I'm talking about Monster Rancher!

Crazy how your fears were spot on and we have Monster Hunter : Now being released. I'm going through the anomaly grind right now and i can't tell you how frustrating it is to look at those lvl4 slots on my armor pieces knowing that i won't be seeing any of the meaningful lvl4 decos for another 100+ anomaly levels. I really don't like Qurio augments for armour or the amount of bloat involved with anomaly. The entire thing is a mess especially since each monster or quests has its own levels to raise up. Way too much bloat. They also spaced out decorations that unlock far into it. Too much stick with the carrot spaced too far apart. TU5 btw is likely to add the max to 300 or even more.

As interesting as it would seem, I doubt that it would happen, considering that Capcom would be more of a rival to Koei Tecmo. Think about the Sengoku Basara series that rivals the long running Warriors (Musou) franchise. But it would definitely be interesting to generate monsters like Rathalos from CDs and combine one with a Khezu, just to give an example. And I'm also glad you remember Monster Hunter Stories! I, too, was surprised when Koei Tecmo collaborated with Bandai Interactive and Tsuburaya Productions to give us Ultra Kaiju Monster Rancher. I have to say it was a great choice, considering how many kaiju we were given throughout the years of the Ultra franchise (Ultraman shows and Ultra Q). And the addition of Mocchi and Suezo as obtainable breeds were a nice touch, too! I have some ideas for future Monster Rancher collaboration titles myself! Look at the Kirby series! So many candidates for obtainable monsters (Waddle Dee, Poppy Bros Jr., Rocky, Chilly, Bonkers, etc.)! And considering the Nintendo has worked with Koei Tecmo for Warriors titles, such as Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors, and other games like Metroid: Other M, it would be great if Nintendo and Hal Laboratory could work with Koei Tecmo and give us a Kirby × Monster Rancher crossover! I would call it "Monster Rancher Dreamland". Same goes for the Metroid series itself, so many monsters worthy of being raised! I would call it "Metroid Rancher". As for the Super Mario series, raising your own Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Blooper, Piranha Plant, Spiny, even Monty Mole would be nice. I would call that "Super Mario Monster Rancher". The Klonoa series is also worthy of a Monster Rancher collaboration title. Sure there aren't many titles, but damn there are quite a few monsters. Moos, Burnies, Summies, Boins, Mew-Mews, Bugons, Nagapokos, Fifis, even Tetons. And one more idea? Monster from throughout Sega's games! Sega Superstars: Monster Rancher! A Chao from the Sonic franchise, a Rappy from the Phantasy Star franchise, a Paku Paku from ChuChu Rocket, a Puyo from the Puyo Puyo franchise, a Morolian from the Space Channel 5 franchise, and even some of the Egg Animals from Billy Hatcher and The Giant Egg. What do you think of my ideas?

    • @graysonthebard9034
      @graysonthebard9034 Год назад

Really, anything that gives more virtual pet style games I would be interested. Definitely a long shot for us to see a true crossover with Monster Hunter but I really do hope Capcom incorporates a similar feeling into the next Stories game. Realistically, if there’s another new Monster Rancher I think we’d probably see some crossover with Wild Hearts since that’s already in house with Koei Tecmo. I could easily see them basing a special Golem on Lavaback. Nintendo crossovers would be absolutely wild but they would definitely be cool to see.

I would give to see Nintendo and Koei Tecmo work together to make an accessory where you can connect to the Switch AND use the CDs you own to generate monsters! That's right! A wireless external disc drive! For the Kirby series, I would like to generate a Poppy Bros Jr. as my first monster! For the Super Mario franchise I would like to generate a Piranha Plant, Cheep Cheep, a Wiggler, Chain Chomp, or even a Blooper!

Remember a long time ago me and friends came up with a end game raptor monster that had long scaled 'hair' that came from the back of it's head that would rattle like a rattlesnake before it did attacks, when enraged it would use those to swing itself across the battlefield, so if a Lance would be block it would use it's hair coils to zip behind them, we also had it's pack to be two slightly weaker versions of itself that would help it in battle by being whip points it used. So we had 3 Raptors fight you, agility on their side and the weaker members that would also trigger a rage mode each time one of the two is killed and going insane if both are killed and just attacking unstop to the point that it knocks itself down or even hurts itself just trying to attack you.

Fully agree on basically everything shown here. Especially about great Boggi. I really like the Boggi's but that's where it ends, there's nothing notable about them. My favorite would be Tzitz-Ya-Ku. They're pretty fun to just follow around, looking at their daily life and see how they blast a dozen wingdrakes and a Paolumu out of the air. It's also instant comedy when they show up in the middle of hunting another monster as you know someone will get blinded before they leave. It might even be you.

There's a handful of pros and cons with the anomoly investigations, but overall I enjoy them as a passive quest I do every now and then. Given enough grinding, anything can go to look bad if you force yourself through it past your own comfort level. Plus they made for a nice way to level both my mr and ar st the same time. I do think that the anomoly investigations is an improvement on the investigations from world. The don't go to overshadow the regular quests and keep inportant parts of your set from you like it was handle in world. Who knows, they might find ways to impove it even more in the 6th generation of monster hunter. The biggest pro I have with them is that you're not punished for choosing to do one over another by having other anomoly quests delevel like how the guiding lands were handled. It lets you take it at your own pace and level witgout having to worry about screwing yourself out of resources that you could otherwise being leveling. I do find that going up to 200 feels a bit much, but they might increase the amount of points gained from anomoly investigations like they've already done. I can see some of the higher levels of the upgrades being put up there, but I do think that the base level of upgrades should be fine with getting with lower or mid tier rewards. Maybe taking the new upgrades and reducing thier 1st and maybe 2nd upgrade to some lower or mid tiers of anomoly parts while keeping the higher tiers with the higher tier anomoly parts, if they have enough or are powerful enough to be worth the higher tiers of anomoly parts. The anomoly investigations still give a nice change to the quests variety for rise. While I don't personally look to make the most efficient quests out of them, I just want the anomoly monster by themself as the target with staying as close to a standard quest as possible. It's not making the most from the investigation system, but it's what I want to do out of them. Adding more monsters just make each individual monster weaker and makes it harder to destroy parts and cut off tails which is what I find to be the most fun while hunting the monster. I have some disagreements with some of the content creators like level 8 shelling being a must. I think level 7 shells are a good baseline damage and and are worthwhile to go for. I do think that they could've given more gunlances higher shelling levels cause there shouldn't be as many level 6 or lower shells with a maxed out gunlance. I also like mixing upgrades so having higher tiers might not be possible if it takes too much to slot them in. I still need to work on getting to the point where I can get more skills to fit more upgrades on my weapons, and the armor augments I don't even bother with since they take away what's special about the armors imo. Taking and replacing skills with other skills doesn't feel right to me and takes away the personality that the armor has and just makes it into a slot machine of skills that holds no value but the skills that can be put on them.

First of all, Diablos is a flying wyvern not a brute wyvern. I often think of them that way in my mind too just because they embody the idea that brute wyverns represent so well, Tigrex too. But mainly I think the reason we don’t have any raptors in the endgame is due to their size. The monsters tend to get bigger and stronger as you progress through the game, so with raptors being the smaller skeleton it’s hard to imagine one with the power level of a Rathalos. Other skeletons in the bird wyvern family are meant to be the upgraded version of raptors. And in a way, brute wyverns also share their skeletal shape.

    • @graysonthebard9034

The diablos thing was a recording mistake. I 100% meant to say Deviljho but I got tripped up and didn't catch it until I was editing. That's how they are now, generally. But I would really like to see them expand a bit. I feel like a threatening smaller monster can be done. Same way Odogaron and Tobi Kadachi are smaller but still threatening fanged beasts.

Great video! This idea may have been mentioned in the comments already, but while watching this, I was thinking about how cool it could be to have another maturity tier for one (or some) of the raptors, as brute wyverns, whose move set and aesthetic leans more towards the finesse and mobility of the raptors, rather than the raw strength and beefy aesthetic that brute wyverns generally have. This same concept could be applied Monster Hunter World's early game fanged wyverns.

I have an idea about why there aren’t any late game raptors. I don’t know, this is just speculation. Most late game monsters are recognizably late game, because they look really imposing and intimidating. Maybe raptors are kind of hard to make look super deadly and dangerous or intimidating. So I feel like there are three main ways to make a monster intimidating. Make it big, make it ultra-aggressive, or give it some special power (like brachydios slime or pukei’s poison big tongue). Raptors would be hard to make intimidating because you can only scale them up so much before they start to look ridiculous. The shape of a raptor’s body make it hard for it to be ultra-aggressive (only two legs). Finally, raptors don’t leave much room for special powers. You could make them breath fire or have poison claws or whatever, but that’s already been done. In conclusion, I would love to see a late game raptor monster, but there are limitations that might make it impossible or at least difficult.

My favourite raptor is Velocidrome because it just gives me a sense of nostalgia and its armor has been good for early game builds in the games it has appeared. Funny how raptors are classified as bird wyverns. They should be a class on their own, and I would love to see a raptor that is at the same power class as that of a Rajang. Just subbed to your channel by the way. Nice work!😊

the first large monster in MH4 is actually a Seltas but fair point all other games do that, also great video

Fair. I always forget about Seltas unless its attached to Seltas Queen.

One way they could achieve something more difficult is by actually leaning into pack hunting a bit more. Have two to three full size raptors act as a single target monster. It’d be pretty difficult for newer hunters but still fairly easy for veteran hunters but still a sufficient challenge

Tbh isn't Anjanath or Deviljho just a big raptor? Especially the jump attack is exactly the same.

I think it because raptor like monster is always weaker compared to other large monster, except large monster that are appear in same threat lvl. Iodrome always appear on almost end of low rank(5*)but still weaker compared to Rathian from 3 star thread

This concept is how I felt about bird wyverns as a whole, we very rarely get bird wyverns stronger than mid tier and Garuga has been ruling the roost since his inception (which is fine) it'd be nice to see raptors even in the mid tier, maybe larger ones that keep the pack dynamic but all instead of smol ones it's 2 large ones (around the size of the current alphas) and then one about 70% the size of Anjanath (maybe its a parent and adolescents?) And the hunt isn't done until you kill all 3 maybe have it so if you kill either both kids first or the parent first, the leftover is perma enraged (outside of getting exhausted)
