Yo bro am i able to cut the long dashboard light into two? Will it still work? (The long wire with two connector on each side)
Only if you can find a way to attach new 4 wires and the same specific connector to the cut piece. When you cut the strip, it no longer has a connector for power on the cut piece.
I learn too much from two of your videos you deserve a follow 😭
This video is about , a chill guy installing starlight 😂
The app you use for the ambient lighting?
It’s called “Magic Lantern” on the App Store!
Where do you store the projector
Shown in video, in the trunk.
Yeah i saw it right after @@TheAutoSurgeon
I went black to brown red to red with no power why?
Where are you referring to?
@@TheAutoSurgeon at the cigarette lighter i found out it’s the shitty 22 gauge power supply not making good contact to car awful product was your accessory power 22 gauge aswell?
I tapped into the actual + and - for the power to the cigarette lighter. Maybe the 22 gauge wire was for the ambient lighting on the cigarette lighter. Either way, I think it would still allow for enough current to power the control module. Did you test the brown/red and red wires with a multimeter to confirm it had 12v?
@@TheAutoSurgeon I tapped into the same wire as you i’m referring to the ambient lighting main control module mine came with 22 gauge supply i might return and shop a different product it seems the ultra thin wire isn’t feasible
The wire on the ambient lighting kit itself? It’s not too thin at all, the LEDs draw very little current. It’s more than likely where you’re drawing power from, double check with a multimeter.
Finally someone that did the sunroof!
Video on the carbon fiber dash board?
Made all the interior carbon trim myself via a skinning process.
So what wire should I tap in for it to work on auto I only leave my lights on that setting
If you want the lights to turn on automatically at night, tap into any factory ambient lighting for the main control module.
@@TheAutoSurgeonso i tap red to red and black to brown correct ?
First off I must say GREAT Video. I have done this mod to my SUV twice now and you make it look so easy. When I first did it there weren't many videos showing how to do it properly. I did it a second time when the shooting star feature became an option. And what's crazy is that now I am considering doing it again with a much bigger and brighter kit. Some say I am crazy but I refuse to pay someone a ton of money for something I can do myself. You are totally right about keeping it organized. The first time I did it I had wires going everywhere and the reinstalled was horrible.
Question, if I tap into the fuse box I need to know, if I buy the splitter what fuse port do I plug it in ( I know it’s the cigarette port but in the video he had 2 other fuses in there where do I get that or is it just the cigarette port fuse and the star light fuse) can someone just help me out here thanks
Hi, sorry I’m not 100% sure what you mean. Could you rephrase a little? But from what I can understand, you mean on the little paper there were two other fuse numbers? You can plug the fuse tap into any of those fuse numbers. If you mean the two fuses on the actual fuse tap itself, the one fuse is the one we remove to plug the fuse tap in, and the other fuse is a new one you need to buy that’s going to be connected to the starlight kit.
@ right basically what I meant is - so you locate the cigarette port fuse, unplug that fuse, plug the cigarette port fuse into the fuse splitter (the wire that powers the star light) then get another fuse separately for the starlights that connect on to the fuse splitter? If that’s what you done can u tell me what amp fuse u used or wich one i need
Yes, exactly! I used a 10amp fuse, a 7.5amp would work too. Just don’t use a fuse higher than 10amp.
@@TheAutoSurgeon nice one bro
Would you be able to install those ambient lights in my car?
Monkey activities
Shown the information on your steering wheel please
Check out the steering wheel install video on my channel
Great thanks bro
Bro please help me what you Type in The Last coding , how is Right 587 231 how to Type 5.87 2.31 or 5.87.2.31 ?
I think you just type it as: 587231
Great explanation for the video! For the storage bin area, why you placed the light in the sidewall instead the middle ceiling area? Maybe it would brighten the whole storage if the light is placed in the middle ceiling area? Thanks a lot!!
I think it was because there wasn’t good enough access to drill the hole on the top of the storage area. If you have space on your car, it would be nice to install it on the top.
As an electrician your cable management is pretty good, nice work
Can u connect the wires to a fuse?
As long as you tap into an already fused power source, you don’t need to use another fuse. But yes, you can install an extra one if desired, it is redundant tho. If you’re directly tapping into the battery for power, then a fuse is required to run it safely.
Ay what's the password so I can buy the kit?
I think the company is revamping their website, maybe check back couple days!
Hey brotha I’m looking to buy this kit but your link doesn’t take me anywhere. Do you know where I can order it? Thanks!!
I think they might be revamping their website, maybe check back in a couple days
After watching so many sloppy install vids, its refreshing to see someone actually take the time to remove panels and do it correctly. Nice work, looks clean and tight.
Nice 👍🏾
how is the steering wheel holding up?
Holding up great! No issues
I've been searching online after seeing this but still your work is far better than most of the shops I saw, man. They put the stars in very strict pattern and it looks like a light grill. You made it look natural. Top job.
you in toronto? because that's clean work
How much you spend for these light
Check the link in the video description!
Where did buy ambient lighting kit frm ?
There’s a link in the full videos description!
Where can you get the fuse that you put at the end to connect the device?? Thank you
Any automotive store should have them in stock!
@@TheAutoSurgeon I mean the whole cable where the device and the fuses are connected, where can you get it? second 15:15
Yes, the fuse tap, right? It should be available at any automotive or car audio store. Just ask them for a fuse tap. The rest of the harness was made using the connectors that came with the kit and some extra wire.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Okay okay thank you very much my friend
@@TheAutoSurgeon Is it enough to have the device connected to the fuse for it to work or is it necessary to have a negative socket?
Another suggestion would be to get two kits with less fibers to also put in the doors 😉
How would that work with putting it different doors with the same kit
Why not use super glue?
Super glue has a super low viscosity, it would be too messy and could leak through the hole onto the headliner fabric. You’d also need a ton of it and it’s not cheap. You could use epoxy or silicone-it would be a little messy and you’d have to wait for it to dry, but it’ll create a strong bond.
@ I hadn't thought about the leaks 😅 Another suggestion would be to get two kits with less fibers to also put in the doors 😉
Does this sync to music? And does this have a rainbow effect mode?
Yes to both
What happens when the motor dies can you just replace it with a new one ? And how long can I expect it to last before having to replace it
Yes, you can just replace the light motor. Not sure how long it should last, I’d probably expect it to last the life of the car, but who knows for sure.
How long do the motors or the engines last before I have to replace them ?
Sooo i want shooting stars, but idk what it means for options. Do i just get the 6 watts 2 meters in length? Idk what they mean. Thx. Also do i get 16 or 20w? Its for a nissan z coupe
?
So the length is referring to the actual length of the strands, so for bigger cars, you’ll want longer strands to span across the headliner. The wattage refers to the power the LEDs, the higher the wattage, the brighter the stars. I’d get the 800 star 20w light motor and the 9w 3m shooting star module-just so you have some wiggle room when it comes to installation!
@ awesome, thanks so much!
Poor car 🤕😭
:(
That was amazing. You're so good at that. How much would you charge to do someone car?
Thank you! Depends on the car and number of stars, probably around $2500-3000CAD
I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It looks like you might live in Canada
Yup, in the GTA!
Great work but to say it's pretty easy, that's insane.. it takes patience...How would you charge ???
Depends on the car and number of stars, probably around $2500-3000CAD
Amazing Work Men , Can you provide Any discount Code, So i can Save a lil bit 😅
I wish I had a discount code for you!
do you know how to turn off the initial animation?
Yes, in the app that the kit uses, click the icon in the top right corner and there should be an option that says “startup animation” - just toggle that off
Thanks so much! I just wanted to know, how did you install the extra one? Did it need a new module? How did you go about the wiring and getting it all to link up?
Which extra one are you referring to? The one under the radio controls? That one I just plugged directly into the main control module. The modules have multiple slots so that you can plug in multiple LEDs.
@TheAutoSurgeon awesome! Thanks for that! I've just installed a kit after watching your video! I'm trying to work out that if I bought another kit, if those modules will connect to the same main controller as the others!
Someone else asked me the same question, honestly I don’t know the answer 100%. But I’d imagine it would connect-reach out to the company and they should be able to confirm.
@@TheAutoSurgeon you've been a great help! I appreciate your help, so much!!! I'll check back in with you and let you know how I go!
@@TheAutoSurgeon it works!
hi, ik this video is a year old but I’m using it to install my ambient lights. I connected it to the ambient lighting but it only comes on during night. Is there any way to get around this?
You need to double check the power source. What did you tap into? If you tapped into factory ambient lighting, like I did in the video, it’ll only turn on when your headlights turn on, at night. If your door lights are connected to a constant 12v supply, change the power source for the main controller, maybe that one is connected to your factory ambient lighting power. Change it to a constant (always on when the car is on) power source and it’ll be on at all times.
Very good video. Easy instalation when i see your video. 👌👌
I did not bolt one clip good for 2 injcetors ,and when i started the car it was loud explosion , injectors moved out ,there was some smoke and bolt fall out off and fell in to the engine compmatment Scare me to death
That’s pretty terrifying, I’m glad it didn’t fall into the engine! Otherwise, a 3 hour job would have turned into an engine replacement 😂
How do I get it and how much does it cost?

Looks very cool
Just one tip, when dissasembling the sun roof, its easier to just roll over the car and the glass will fall from the gravity
Bro where you get the carbon fiber door trim pieces and dash area ?
Excellent job
Uhhhh... Hell nahh. Kudos for the vid tho.
