Was the kit you ordered 6 or 9 watt and also was it 2 or 3 meters? Also was it 800 strands including starlight or not including?
The kit I have is 20W 800 strands, not including the shooting star strands. The shooting star module comes with 60 strands-I got the 6W 3 meter one. But I’d probably recommend getting the 9W 3 meter shooting star module, just since it’ll probably be brighter.
@@TheAutoSurgeonwill I have to worry about any problems with it getting too hot with the higher watt shooting stars?
Nope, the shooting star module doesn’t really get hot since it’s not always on.
This looks so amazing, I’m planning on doing to on my next car and it will be a 2016 GS450h, do you think it will be hard to do it on that car? Because the rear seats do not fold down at all
Yes, as long as you can find a way to remove the headliner, you can do it. Technically, you don’t even need to remove the headliner from the car, you just need to lower it, it’s just much easier to do it outside the car.
I did this on my friends car. But you can see all the fibers kinda sticking out of the headliner. How do you prevent that?
You need to cut them with flush cutters, like the ones I used in the video. Then, grab a brush of some sorts and brush it out. That should help hide them a little better. You might still be able to see some, but it’s pretty difficult to hide them all, especially if you’re using the OEM headliner fabric. It’s usually easier to hide them using alcantara or suede because those materials have texture which helps camouflage the fiber optic strands.
@@TheAutoSurgeon thank you!
I'll normally do any mod myself but I'm definitely paying someone to do it after watching this lmao. Props to you and everyone else who DIYs this!
I wasn't sure how these worked. I guess I just assumed it was a projection...it looks good but you saved me a nasty surprise finding out all the fabrication it takes to install it.
It’s a ton of work, for sure. But totally worth the effort!
Hey, quick question, is 10a fuse not to high? I saw that the star is 20w and the shooting is 9w so in total 29w 29/12: is 2a we round that up to 3a. Will the 10a not be to high?
Yes, looking back a 10a fuse is a little high, but is still safe to use since the wire I used is 16awg. However, a 5a fuse would be ideal, you’re correct.
@@TheAutoSurgeon perfect, thank you for the reply 👍
Great video! Question tho, which size for the night glow shooting star should I chose? Does it make a huge difference?
I’d go for the highest wattage available, they’ll be the brightest. The lower the wattage, the dimmer they’ll be. As for the length, it depends on your cars size. If you have a larger car, you’ll need longer strands to reach the area where you’re going to install the shooting stars. I’d recommend getting the longest length regardless, just so you have some wiggle room when installing.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Thank you man!!
Great job bro, can I pay you to come to the States and install my system? 😂
did you install the dash & door ambient lighting too, or did it come with the car?
Yes, all of the ambient lighting is aftermarket. Check out the full video on my channel!
6:19 - ....alright Pennywise, settle down....
Best looking e60 interior I’ve ever seen👍🏾 very great work
Perfect step by step🫡
Is there a way to just connect it to the positive and negative of the battery? My fuses are under the hood and my battery is in the trunk so I can’t power it the same way you did.
What car do you have? There should be a fuse box in your trunk or in the glove box/under the dash-if your battery is in the trunk.
@@TheAutoSurgeon I have a cadillac ats-v coupe
@@TheAutoSurgeon also, which wattage did you buy for the starlight kit, 16 or 20? And which wattage and length did you buy for the shooting star, 6 watt 2 meter, 6 watt 3 meter, 9 watt 2 meter, or 9 watt 3 meter?
I got 20w for the starlight motor and 6W 3m for the shooting star. But I’d recommend getting the 9W 3m shooting star module, since it’ll be brighter. They didn’t carry them back when I ordered mine, otherwise I would have gotten that.
@@TheAutoSurgeon thank you!
Too short for my car :( need 2m, 1.5m and 1m
You can email the company and they should be able to provide longer strips for you!
hella neat.. just finished mine and wasnt as neat but still came out great
Glad it came out good! Honestly, it doesn’t matter how neat it is-as long as it works.
very good knowledge sir 👏
Hey, How do i know what wattage to choose and length to choose? and is the lengtt the length of the wire or...?
The higher the wattage, the brighter it will go. The length refers to the length of the fiber optic strands. I’d recommend getting the highest wattage and longest length fibers, just so you have some wiggle room.
Tip for anyone trying this. Dont and I repeat do not use high temp glue guns use a low temp one because it will melt the fibers and they won’t work. Luckily I figured out real quick and had enough length still. But don’t use high temp guns
The thing is low temp glue will melt in the summer heat and can increase the chance of the fibres backing out of the hole. Honestly, I’d probably stay away from hot glue in general next time. Maybe using some sort of silicone would be better.
@@TheAutoSurgeon well it’s a duel temp gun using the same sticks so there is no difference in the glue melting. It just runs lower temp so the glue isn’t burning everything lol. But yes next time silicone or something would work better. Thanks for the response just tryna help others out who run into what i have.
Amazing! Does the lights show from the sunroof glass above?
Yes, you need to add a piece of black cloth to cover them.
when you start the car does it always boot up with rgb colors or will it turn on with the color you set it to last? I’m not a fan of the rgb boot especially if it did it every time id turn on the car
You can turn off the startup animation through the app!
Great video! Looking to do the same to my car with the same exact kit, so I’m curious what size drill bit did you use to drill the holes??
I’m assuming you used a 1/16” which is what I may use
It was a while ago, I really don’t remember what size drill bit I used. I just compared it to the diameter of the strands.
@@TheAutoSurgeonDo you remember what size fuse tap you used?
Yes, I used a “Littelfuse ATO add-a-circuit holder” fuse tap. Just the regular size, not mini. It was just one I got from Canadian tire-If you’re not in Canada, I’m sure you can find the same thing under a different brand.
@@TheAutoSurgeon thank you!!
I just bought me a Supra MK5 and I love ambient lightings. Would this installation work for me?
Yes, it’s a universal kit!
Nice set up bro? Where did you get the steering wheel ?
I got it from Aliexpress! I have a video regarding the steering wheel on my channel.
Great video, do you think there is anyway to add a physical on off switch or button?
Yes, absolutely. Put the switch in-line with the main controller’s power supply. Since the sub controllers don’t turn on without a signal from the main controller, if the main controller doesn’t have power, the sub controllers will also be off.
@@TheAutoSurgeonperfect exactly what I was thinking of doing.
Iv just done the ambient lights to my car but they keep changing colours will not stay on the colour I chose
Which app are you using?
@@TheAutoSurgeon iv tryed magic lantern and iv tryed magic car light
Are you using some other sort of Bluetooth device in your car? Maybe an FM transmitter or something like that? That could be causing an interference with the signal.
You should try ambient lighting under car 😉
Perfect 😎thanks for video
Gotta fake it till you make it
Wooow this video is amazing. 💪
where did you get the hand wheel ?
Ali Express! Checkout the video on my channel.
how are the sunroof lights holding up, a lot of people say they’re not worth it cause with more use, they’ll start to rip
Still works great! Just make sure you use a liberal amount of adhesive and it should hold up. Having stars in the sunroof cover is a must, in my opinion, it doesn’t look as good without it.
Very tastefully done. 🥰 Looks like it was installed by the manufacturer.
Very expensive. I prefer others examples from other selllers.
Yes, but you get what you pay for. This cluster is much more refined and has a much better UI than any other I’ve seen. It’s like the Apple of the gauge cluster world.
@@TheAutoSurgeon In your opinion, not mine for sure. To be honest i didnt see any special about it. To have many possibilities doesnt mean they are good. I didnt like any to be honest. In otherwise, we can buy in Aliexpress a cheap one and being honest i just like one image of the Aliexpress, Speed on top and gears bellow. The rest are so ugly like yours, it seems a toy and not made to a special car. All examples that you have are worst than the original cluster. Calling Apple of the gauge cluster to that, is to laugh for sure. Even trying a joke saying that is ridiculous. Better saying, "apple" overpriced of the world. 👎 Paying 1000 ou 2000 for that not even if i was Elon Musk.
To each their own 🤷. If you end up getting the Chinese one, I'd love to hear about your experience with it. I'm pretty confident it'll be filled with glitchy software or subpar hardware. When it comes to a part as vital as this, flawless operation is crucial. It should work seamlessly without any glitches or crashes for optimal safety. The mention of Apple was in relation to its user-friendly interface, reliability, performance, and quality. I understand if there was any frustration stemming from that comment.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Like I said, I didn't see any special on yours. All examples are not worst comparing with Chinese one. Some Chinese pieces I agree are not good, but in these days forget that. DJI is the most reliable drone and guess what, is Chinese. Xiaomi is the most reliable I'm many things, and guess what... We are in 2024 not in 1980... I bought an Android 11 to my BMW and so far is perfect. Technology is very good and reliable. At the time I heard some guys saying the same as you, but overpriced is overpriced no matter what. With clusters is exactly the same, Chinese ones we can pay 500 and the effect is better than your... 3x less the cost and with possibility to upgrade in future always free...like we do with android using a USB port. And free... And yours just to put colours the cost is bigger... Is funny. But, like I said. Not just the cost, models of display are better looking than yours. That's why they sell a lot and we can see in RUclips reviews and so on. And guess what, people love it. If I intend to buy, of course no doubts at all. I prefer the Chinese one. Better looking the displays and better deal. My opinion and opinion of the most of the people. Using the expression of Apple on yours doesn't make any sense bro.
@@thextubegood for you lil bro everything thinks the exact opposite
Can you pls do a video on how to retrofit the standard e60 mirrors to the m5 model folding ones?
bro pls help me , i have e60 2010 , I can't disable DSC, I tried every way
What happens when you press and hold the DTC button?
@@TheAutoSurgeon It appears there for 1 second or less and then disappears. :(
Thanks for the great video! As I want to install it on a small car without a soft ambiant dome light, would it be possible to use the storage lights for this purpose or are the LED's to bright?
Yes, absolutely! It can be done. If you find that they are too bright, you can always turn down the brightness through the app. It can go very dim, so you’ll definitely be able to find a brightness that’ll work.
@@TheAutoSurgeon Great! Thanks for your quick reply.
I lost the controller to my lights and they randomly changed one day to a color fade instead of just sparkling white. any recommendations for universal remotes?
Just look up any “RGB remote controller” and any of those should work just fine.
Very good work!
Very helpful video. Appreciated, I have been watching many of these videos but none were this detailed.
Glad it was helpful!
I have never seen anything like this can’t wait to do this on my car🔥🔥🔥
does this works with 530d? like from 2004 and up?
Yes, it should! Check the website to make sure it’s compatible.

Gonna do this too
Ok at first I gave up on this project but now I’m thinking of doing it cuz of how great it came out and thanks for plugging in the shop to get it from.
It definitely takes some determination, but it’s 100% worth the effort! Let me know how it goes.
Amazing install🔥
Perfect timing, i just ordered a kit off amazon a week ago but it doesn't have dual color selection. I might return it and order this one instead
For sure! Most Amazon kits aren’t the greatest, they have very limited functionality.
I had the Amazon one before too. Thing was a bit wack. The wires it came with didn’t work so I returned and gave up on the project but this video gave me some Motivation 😂
