do you still have the silence of the lambs in your video store???...cool
There’s quite a few tapes on the wall lol
@@MidnightMovieGangPodcast yeah.....but for sure there is the silence of the lambs....
Love you guy's stuff. However, I do slightly disagree about Eggers use of darkness in this film. I think he runs into an issue of "if everything is dark nothing is dark." I felt that the movie, in general, was so dark and desaturated that I had nothing to contrast it with. No comparison to emphasize the gravity of the horror sequences. In comparison, Bram Stoker's Dracula 1992 has these gorgeous moments in full daylight exploding with color and then these darker scenes that highlight the danger our protagonists are about to face. Idk if it was the projectors at my local theater (and this was a 35mm showing) but I could barely tell what was going on at Orlock's castle. In some ways, this could put us in Thomas's mind set as I did find it rather disorienting as a viewer. However, I would have liked to see a bit more of the castle's architecture and set dressing. I also found the introduction of Van Froz in a dark cluttered hovel to feel a little limp compared to Van Helsing's introduction giving a lecture in a massive Operation Theater in the 1992 adaptation. Ultimately I enjoyed the movie but I do think Francis Ford Copela did the source material better 32 years ago even while being shackled by an abysmal performance on the part of Keanu Reeves.
I get what u mean about the movie feeling rather monotone in terms of contrast. The whole movie stays in one visual language for the most part. For me tho, I like that the movie has this dream/trance like quality throughout the whole thing. It stays one vibe, but I like that vibe, but your point is valid
I think you guys would like some old westerns from the 60s era, like the great silence and or the good the bad and the ugly, some of clint eastwoods westerns, yall should look into them!
Got any good recs?
@@MidnightMovieGangPodcast shit sorry i made a typo in the comment, i was real tired writing that, i edited it. again my bad lol
@@MidnightMovieGangPodcast I would go with the good the bad and the ugly, such a classic
I love old samurai films, especially kurosawas and okamotos, glad to see other people are taking a liking in them! love y'alls movie reviews keep it up.
Love the reaction 👍👍
I would be in the top 20-5. Maybe win depending on my random weapon.
The movie was woke trash biting bits that were done better in the original to try to recapture the old magic for a new zoomer audience. This movie was Disney lvl bad.
Why are these two movies compared to one another? One is a crime drama and one is a horror film with the devil in it.
Um
Relatable
*forget about the baby*
Lamer? No way
Twister & the blair witch project dont get no credit.
💕Wow💞🤍💛🤍💛💛💛💛💛
This movie shook me so much because it is so correct of what was
Takashi Miike movies are great for violence. Ichi the Killer is a classic.
Gotta check that out!
@@MidnightMovieGangPodcast He also made a good samurai movie in 2010, 13 Assassins.
And the classic 1999 slow buiding psychopathic horror movie, Audition.
Both men are great, but Mifune is universally considered Japan's greatest actor. They are also great in non samurai roles. High and Low showcases both men in modern roles.
I loved this movie. There’s not much left to do with the slasher genre so I appreciate the effort. I actually found it quite relaxing to watch the guy trudge through the woods for 90mins. I love nature walks and I love slasher movies, this was both in one, I’m happy!
Tommy after taking off his head: “My names Trevor..?”
I love it keep going
LET'S GOOOOOOOO
Im still so entertained watching Reservoir Dogs even after watching it ten times!!😂
Video games are allowed to be stupid. It’s that they aren’t allowed to be stupid while trying to still be serious at the same time.
My brother thinks casting Kevin hart as Rolland was a mistake. Says Kevin isn't going to capture his personality correctly.
Still love borderlands. Shit was great back in its day.
Don't disagree. Games are so afraid to just be games anymore. That's why Saints Row 4 was my game of the year in its respective release year. And Sunset Overdrive was the same way. Because those games were just fun and didnt take themselves seriously at all
Saints Row 3 and 4 were definitely peak for me
i think where ridley scott fails as storyteller is he always seems to have like 12 different endings to his scripts and it shows. he originally wanted to end alien with the xenomorph eating ripley’s head in the escape pod, accessing the comms terminal then making a distress call in dallas’ voice. like wtf dude that sucks but he only changed it when the producers met him with guffaws lol
Well peter had some good material to work with in lotr. Not so much in the bad hobbit movies. He milked it too far.
The big boss, the fist of fury, and enter the dragon
Enter the dragon
Return of the Dragon . The BADDEST MAN ON EARTH
Man was the best
Original Dune is still the best imo.
For me that is jeromy piven (spelling)
*homers voice* NEEEEERRRRRRDDDD
There was a prologue for the 1984 Dune movie. Virginia Madsen did it.
