You were a life saver for us today as we have been installing garage door, opener and rebuilding garage front for past month on weekends. This part had us frustrated tremendously and your video saved us much anger and arguing!!!

The video is super helpful. I just don't know whether or not it will matter when I go to do it because rather than the part being vertical it's horizontal in the middle of the lock. I don't know if you know what I mean but the oval part that the knob slides through. On my door my old block is missing but the part of the lock that remains is that oval part and it's turned the other way than it is in your video and pretty much any other video. I don't know if you'll see this coming or not but I don't know what to do about that

The lock on the out side have to be unlocked before the handel on the endside can be turned?

That clip is called a Tinnerman clip.

Couldn't you just give the sheet metal shaft lock a light hit on a solid surface and then push it on the shaft? Avoid having to knock down the tabs while on the door?

Great video.. Quick question though, My cloplay lock does not hold and I am able to open my garage from the outside.. Would this be fix that problem or would I have to do something else?
